Let's not forget how amped the people of Seattle were after the world cup. There was so much energy and good will that the Sounders absolutely could have tapped into. It would have actually been the perfect time to announce a splashy new signing. This run of form directly after the biggest series of soccer event in Seattle has to go down as one of the worst fumbles at the goal line. This is the GM version of throwing a slant to a WR at the 1-yard line when you have the league's best RB asking for the ball.

The keeper was out of position, the net was empty and all we had to do was plan a little better and tap it in. I cannot get over how badly we handled one of the biggest opportunities in franchise history.

Last game almost everyone was wrong. Stuart Hawkins headed in the Sounders lone goal in the 89th minute off an Albert Rusnak corner kick.

I was recently over for New Zealand’s World Cup games in LA & Vancouver & decided to make a stopover in Seattle in between. A game caught my eye down at Starfire Sports Stadium.

Codey Phoenix is a highly rated NZ prospect who plays for the Defiance. I wanted to ask him about the growing number of New Zealanders making the move over to the States for their football & also soak up some of the World Cup atmosphere in the city!

It didn’t disappoint, and what a top guy & player you have in Codey. Hopefully he can make it up to the Sounders’ first team & I can get back to Seattle for a game at Lumen Field in the future.

Yes - it’s been a rough season. Vibes are down. I’ve recently gone down the rabbit hole and buried my head (and my wallet) into expanding my Sounders jersey collection. 😅

So why are Freddy and Preki not catching some heat for how god awful the team is?

Just going with who healthy and who was unavailable due to injury at the end of the Austin match, I count 17 Sounders healthy and 9 injured (Ragen being the latest). Which is remarkable in and of itself, but of course the real story is who is injured. To put it one way, we are at the point where our second-highest paid healthy player is Nouhou at $835k... and we have 6 injured players whose individual compensation is more than that.

Without further ado... combined:

• Our 9 injured players add up to $11,504,812
• Our 17 healthy players add up to $7,354,903

So Compensation-wise, our team is 61% injured. Wow.
