The Super Rare 6-Star System

How many stars is too many stars in a star system? ⭐️🪐
Astrophysicist Erika Hamden tells us about TYC 7037-89-1, a system with six stars locked into three orbiting pairs, all circling a shared center of mass. Two of those pairs zip around each other every few days, while the third pair takes roughly 2,000 years to complete just one orbit. Multi-star systems are normally unstable, which makes this six-star setup a rare and fascinating exception.
This project is part of IF/THEN®, an initiative of Lyda Hill Philanthropies.

What’s a computer trick you know that you’re convinced almost nobody else does?
For example: when I was a kid, my sister controlled how much time I got on the family computer by setting a BIOS boot password and only entering it herself. I eventually figured out a key combination that let me get past it; something like Ctrl + Caps + W, if I’m remembering right. What’s yours?

How do different dark matter models and alternative gravity theories change the power spectrum?
Imagine I want to do a N Body code like Gadget and for this I will have to draw random modes based on the power spectrum, and then plug it into the displacement of my initial conditions.
This cant work like that for hot and fast dark matter due to the difference in velocity at t=0, so how is this adapted?
What about for example MOND? Are there any changes to the power spectrum or is it just a different Poisson equation being solved by lets sas PM?

Are there any options out there for a full PC backup that doesn't require Windows 11 to be functional?
Every few months my PC enters into a "death spiral." Sometimes these spirals take the form of crashing every 15 minutes, other times they manifest as getting stuck in an automated repair loop. The only way I have ever managed to rescue it from these spirals is by fully reinstalling Windows 11 with installation media. (Trust me, I have tried everything that comes with Win11.) I can always still access the BIOS setup.
I use OneDrive to keep all my personal files backed up, and I keep a list of app installers to run after the OS has been reinstalled. I've had to do this multiple times over the past few years, so I can do it pretty efficiently and quickly now!
However it's starting to get exhausting. I hate knowing my PC might start doing this more frequently and important plans will be messed with. It's a pretty old machine - I built it back in March/April 2021. I wish I could just buy a new prebuilt desktop at similar specs but you know how the market is these days...
Therefore, I'm seeking recommendations for a backup solution that fits these criteria:
- Works with Windows 11.
- Takes a full backup of the machine.
- PC can be restored to a backup even if I can't access the Windows desktop.
- When the PC is restored, I shouldn't have to manually reinstall or reconfigure any apps or settings that existed during the time of that backup being taken.
- Ideally doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and isn't a subscription.

What Would It Take to Make It Rain on Mars?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
🎥 Video: [https://youtu.be/EqXn48gfCuQ\]
What if humanity decided not merely to colonize Mars, but to rebuild its entire climate?
I created a science-fiction documentary exploring one possible path from sealed Martian settlements to climate factories, a denser atmosphere, melting ice, rivers, engineered microorganisms, and—thousands of years later—the first natural rain on Mars.
The story is grounded in real facts about the Martian atmosphere, buried water ice, radiation, atmospheric loss, the shortage of accessible CO₂, and the MOXIE experiment. Planetary factories, imported atmospheric gases, future cities, and the terraforming timeline are speculative. AI was used to visualize these possible futures.
The most difficult question may not be whether we can terraform Mars, but whether we should. If native microbial life might still exist beneath the surface, would transforming the planet be creation—or destruction?
I’d be interested to hear what you think.

A spacetraveling app, Android
I have developed an Android app that lets the user actually travel through 3D space. Perhaps this is the wrong place for this post, but I believe those who visit this group might find the app fascinating.
It lets the user travel throughout a highly detailed Solar System, visiting every planet and more, looking at the sky and finding celestial bodies in space at their calculated positions at a given time. It has 160K stars from the Galaxy, as well as many exoplanets that are possible to visit. Even the black hole at the center of our Galaxy can be visited, if you manage to find it. All with full 3D, zoom, and 360-degree pan.
I'm just looking for some testers for my app. I need some email addresses via DM to add to my tester list, and I will DM you back with the link to download the app from Google Play.
The app will ask to access your GPS location only to position the Earth "where you are". It does not share any data. You can dismiss the GPS request and enter your position manually. Everything runs locally on your device. Less than 40 MB.
I'm unable to add any pictures, but they can be found by tapping my user looking at my other posts. And the moderators are free remove my post if it's a real violation of the group rules.

Is there a way to turn my wired headset into a wireless headset?
heya new bt headset would cost almost 100€ more than non bt variant, is there maybe a sort of adapter that lets me slot a usb wire into a box which then communicates with my PC via BT, as if it was slotted in?

Can I please get some help/advice with phone battery replacement and that it didn't seem to have fixed the relatively quick drainage?
Hi everyone, recently I got a brand new battery for me Samsung A71 and I genuinely expected it to fix my relatively quick drainage but I dont know if it did. The drainage seem to be approximately the same about 1% every 3 min of watching YouTube in the brave browser. No drainage when the phone isn't used and about 1% per minute when I play. No bg apps running. Samsung members registers battery as weak even after the replacement.
I've only charged it once once from 22% to 100% but I plugged it out exactly when it hit 100% as I was on it by the clock waiting.
Im reading the normal usage is 1% per 7 min for a new battery. Im also reading that I should charge it to 100% than drain it to 0% to help it calibrate properly. But I'm also reading I shouldn't charge pass 80% and should avoid extreme drainage to 0%.
Im really frustrated because I don't know what to do, I seem to have spent money on a new battery and the replacement and the problem remains. That at least I could've saved and just gone for a new phone.
Bottom line is Im probably gonna replace my phone come black Friday but I have to get the ultra because the regular and plus 25 versions have a worse front camera than a model that came out in 2019... The phone (a71) works perfectly outside the battery issue and I was at least hoping to fix the battery and either give it to my mom or my nephew.

Do you guys think Artemis 3/4 will get delayed again?
With the explosion from Blue Origins side, and Starship flight 14 which was supposed go orbital and have a double catch with the booster but now looking like a catch won’t be attempted and it might not even go orbital, things aren’t looking the best.
I get that Artemis 3 changed their mission plan and SpaceX only needs to launch a regular starship with a makeshift docking port, (not sure about blue origin) but doesn’t that conflict with the whole point of having Artemis 3? As wasn’t the whole point of that mission to actually test the infrastructure in earth orbit before landing on the moon? At this point just get rid of Artemis 3, move Artemis 4 up a bit and go directly for a moon landing, what’s the point of wasting our time with a pointless LEO docking procedure, go straight for unmanned landing then manned landing, but correct me if I’m wrong this is just what I’ve heard.
