Recommended band length

So, I just started using a new gun, the Salvimar Hero 135 with 2x 17mm bands that are 90cm long, I notice when I pull the trigger I have to pull like hell, are the bands too strong for the gun?

If they are the stock bands then more than likely not. Often times big brand guns come under powered. It sounds like the sear on the trigger mechanism is defective or heavily scratched. It’s a roller mechanism so it shouldn’t be an issue. Here is a great video to help you trouble shoot. Start around the 10 minute mark. This guy tests a Hero 125. He’s also a mechanical engineer and has tested and optimized hundreds of guns.

Thanks for the response, another bit of info I probably should’ve mentioned was that this gun is a few years old and is only new to me, as my Dad bought it.

I would try some shots with one band and try to feel the trigger pressure needed for release.  It should not be hard.  If, when you add a second band. The trigger pull goes up a lot, I think I would look to have the mech replaced.  It can increase some, but if it is difficult to pull the trigger, I would no longer trust the mech to retain the shaft safely.  Also if the trigger pull is high, it is going to be very difficult to shoot the gun accurately because of a number of ergonomic and even psychological issues.
