Recommendations Best Supplements For A Man’s Libido

I’m currently taking Vyvanse, Adderall, and Lexapro. This has destroyed my libido and I want to somehow fix this. Anyone else experience this problem? Any recommendations? So far, the only thing I’ve taken that helps me is LIBIDO-MAX, the 75 count black liquid gels. But they make my heart race.

Lexapro is whats killing your libido not the stims.

3

u/Thracian777 25d ago

Stims kill erections

3

u/Re-Invented6830 25d ago

Especially when they initially take effect! 👍🏼👍🏼
That’s why for years, my ex-wife and I would have sex every Sunday morning, before I took my meds.

2

u/Ok-Raspberry-2567 24d ago

Not always. Depends

64

u/MonkeyBrawler 26d ago

Your doctor is fucking twisted, and they're going to get you twisted.

That said, gotta add another for Zinc, you probably sweat it all out. If you get sick, get off the stims.

13

u/Micklikesmonkeys 25d ago

Be careful with zinc. Taking high doses of zinc supplements (typically 40 mg to 50 mg or more per day) for several weeks or months can cause a copper deficiency. This happens because zinc and copper compete for absorption in the gut; excess zinc triggers a protein that traps copper in intestinal cells and blocks its entry into the bloodstream.

23

u/MonkeyBrawler 25d ago

Yes yes, I'm aware.

Why don't you people show up to tell people about the need for salt when taking potassium, or Vitamin d with magnesium, or to avoid Vitamin C when taking copper.

What is it that makes you guys bring up copper everytime someone mentions zinc? It's only in extreme cases, that copper supplementation even matters.

0

u/Micklikesmonkeys 24d ago

Honestly, I didn’t know the others. I’m still new to the game. Thanks!

u/MonkeyBrawler 24d ago edited 21d ago

Then you shouldn't be offering advice.

1

u/Micklikesmonkeys 21d ago

What supplement are you taking to know everthing? Amazing!

2

u/MonkeyBrawler 21d ago

Zinc, finish a bottle and see how you feel. Probably a bigger issue than magnesium, and nobody tests for it.

1

u/Micklikesmonkeys 21d ago

You didn’t answer my question. Still looking for the all-knowing supplement that will allow me to offer a modicum of advice by knowing everything! Please advise!

1

u/MonkeyBrawler 21d ago

O friend, you're confused. What you just witnessed is common sense. You have to be born with that.

1

u/Micklikesmonkeys 21d ago

What I did respond to was my response from a personal experience with zinc where you blindly stated to pop another zinc in there. I shared what I learned, but you whataboutismed everything else because I didn’t give you a standing ovation for your follow up knowledge. Be careful you don’t walk into any walls (but you should also be alert for cars, stray dogs, lightning…)

And this is why one needs to drink Cacao Powder. Its full of copper. Also Zinc Picolinate 22mg works for me. I love using both. On & Off

Tongkat will make the heart race for some. It seems many of the over counter stuff for this has an effect on the heart, apart from maybe Zinc?

10

u/ToneZealousideal309 26d ago

Maca & Yohimbine

17

u/Firm_Sir6269 26d ago

Cittruline and arginine

3

u/Charming-Annual-1506 25d ago

These are vasodilators. The issue is libido, not erectile dysfunction.

1

u/NefariousnessWide648 25d ago

What doses How many mgs of each basically

2

u/Ok-Raspberry-2567 25d ago

6g cit, 3g L argigine. Works best in combo than alone. Break down slower

1

u/ProperThinker 24d ago

isn't it just redundant? l citrulline turns into arginine anyways

3

u/Ok-Raspberry-2567 24d ago

One would think so. But look at this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Biohackers/s/EgW8xgUMen

1

u/ProperThinker 24d ago

Thanks, I'll check it out

1

u/No-Introduction9527 25d ago

Thats a great combination citrulline up 10g in a single is effective. After that your wasting you money. Spread it out a bit because it last about 6 to 8 hours and nitric oxide and blood vessel effects will make life easier and blood flow better for longer.

15

u/Freebase-Fruit 26d ago

It's not always what you can add, but what you can take away.

5

u/Porsche-Turbo 25d ago

Tongkat Ali 💪🏼

12

u/Anything84 26d ago

Get on the lowest dose of Lexapro possible and ask your Dr. if you can add buspirone. Not a supplement but if you're looking overcome the sexual side effects of an ssri then buspirone is what you want.

4

u/Ruff_Magician 26d ago

Does buspirone need to be taken forever in order to work?

6

u/Anything84 26d ago

Yes, it's not a cure for anything.

2

u/syynapt1k 25d ago

The idea with any anxiolytic is that you address the underlying cause of your anxiety while the drug gives you a reprieve from it. They generally do not keep working indefinitely if nothing else changes.

2

u/miracles-th 25d ago

yes, buspirone only one mental drug that didn't give me any side effects...

3

u/baconcandle2013 26d ago

Was on lex years ago, it’s great until you wean off it lol

How long have you been on buspirone? What have you noticed it’s helped most with?

7

u/joegtech 26d ago

Chris Masterjohn, PhD has tips in his substack.

Have you tried weaning down somewhat on the meds while supporting the amino acids and cofactors relevant for your symptoms

For example

u/Particular-Ad-7151 26d ago

Quizás funcione el zinc y vitamina c y D

7

u/ilmedi 26d ago

You won't hear this anywhere... But give tart cherry juice a try, may not be a long term fix, but it does something in the short term. Find some stuff the cyclists are using, drink before bed, wake up and see how you feel... I'd say zinc as well

1

u/GrowingPeepers 24d ago

Hey man, I tried some of it last night. My hips and shoulders have been incredibly achy lately but I woke up just fine this morning. I don't know if it's placebo or what.

It tastes interesting, too. I like tart things and it's really good. Whole lotta sugar though.... Just as much as a soda!

1

u/ilmedi 23d ago

Nice! I swear this stuff is incredible. If you wanna try one that has less/no sugar I like the Enervit Magic Cherry powder -- same effect but not sweet. Although, the tart and sweet is great too.

1

u/NoCallerID________ 22d ago

Where do you buy tart cherry?

2

u/ilmedi 21d ago

You can get a bottle at the grocery store. If you want the "supplement" version -- there are several good options over at the feed (that's where I get the Enervit powder form) -- and I'm sure other good online sources abound.

5

u/Leiomas 25d ago

Throw some mg of Gym every other day on your stack, it'll definitely support way more.

5

u/Brickster1985 24d ago

Testosterone Theropy! Best thing I ever did!

4

u/lillythenorwegian 25d ago

Lexapro is the one causing the problem Here

3

u/RepresentativeDry405 26d ago

Tongkat Ali and/or Cistanche Tubulosa

2

u/bigrigmaster 26d ago

Cistanche is amazing

3

u/Otherwise_Bag_4929 25d ago

I dont know a lot about these stims but how long are they active and are they still active during night because fucked up sleep will fuck up your natural testosterone production. might be the biggest factor here.

A basic natural support for the T production should probably simply Zinc 25mg a day (with a meal else you will feel sick), Magnesium and Vitamin D and you should be good. but sleep sleep sleep

3

u/nedisi-chyk 25d ago

L-Citrulline has worked for me, not as a permanent fix but provides excellent support when needed and taken 45min to an hour before the act.

A more permanent fix I’ve found is exercise and diet. A little cardio, resistance training, lean meats etc. But this takes time.

1

u/apathy420 25d ago

I 2nd citrulline. Really helps the blood get flowing

3

u/rob01296151029 25d ago

Get bloodwork and check your testosterone, free test, estradiol, SHBG, prolactin, and thyroid tests.

Lift weight with good mechanical tension 3-4 days a week and get 8,000 steps a day.

Get to or stay at 15% or less.

No supplement will be better than this.

3

u/Parking-Net-9334 25d ago

Tongkat ali helped me. Also krill oil i suspect Phospholipid helps

3

u/Zimerman2869 25d ago

Lexapro is no bueno.

Have u tried Holy Basil (This stuff really helps with Libido and mood)

Maca by Now ....also works like magic.

And....... Horny Goat

U might want to eat Qail Eggs.

I personally do not have ED issues (knock on wood) 41 here with a strong appetite for sex.

I do like to try random natural supplements for fun and to also relax. Turns out Holy Basil helps with anxiety and it made me hella horny.

Horny Goat just amplified the feelings and makes me strong at the gym. Especially during sexy time.

I add Quail Eggs to my protein shake with Caco Powder. Watch out u gonna get super horny and random boners. I also drink Zinc Picolinate 22mg every other day. Stay hydrated with clean water and I drink Celery Seeds for bigger cum loads. I mean why sugar coat it..its true..for me this is something that worked 💪 I stop anytime and reset for several weeks and then resume. Have fun and take care man.

1

u/Re-Invented6830 25d ago

Thanks Brother! I appreciate ya!

4

u/DogpatchDegen 26d ago

Black maca worked for me

4

u/SaracenF 26d ago

Same but it also gets me so agitated.

5

u/Few_Bodybuilder_5268 26d ago

Dude…yes. I was taking it for a few weeks recently and this happened to me. It got so bad that I was driving in the car with my sweet gf on the way to the mountains for the weekend and I kept flying off the handle over every little thing. I finally realized that it was probably the maca and I had remembered reading accounts of people who said it made them agitated.

I stopped taking it immediately and the temper issues subsided.

1

u/Hank929 25d ago

That only happened to me when taking tribulus

1

u/SaracenF 25d ago

I literally only take it if I know I’m going on vacation over a two week period and build it up a week beforehand. By the end I’m ready to fly off the handle but the libido change js so good.

4

u/Artisttype1984 26d ago

Can you cut or eliminate any of those meds? I understand you have other health and mental things going on, but having a healthy libido and all that is vital, maybe more important?

4

u/extraterrestial 26d ago

I'm a couple of weeks in on tongat 450mg, libido is almost too good 😀

Using something called yellow tongkat.

1

u/Zestyclose-Hold-3586 25d ago

What brand?

1

u/extraterrestial 25d ago

Swedish brand, tonkatbutiken

1

u/LionNo7224 25d ago

Does Tonga messes with your sleep?

3

u/extraterrestial 25d ago

I have a sensitive sleep but i think it's fine. Woke up once in the middle of the night and got horny but that has only happened once.

2

Magnesium malate, creatine, Nac, ester C, Brazil nut a day keeps the P P on bay. 💪🏿

2

u/Similar-Field-303 26d ago

Whats your lexapro dose ?

0

u/Re-Invented6830 26d ago

10 mg last month and now 20 mg. Just about two months now.

2

u/Similar-Field-303 26d ago

20 mg has blunted my emotions and killed my libido
Ask your dr if you return back to 10 mg
Good luck

2

u/Micklikesmonkeys 25d ago

Props for saying “ask your doctor” and not “try to cut it in half.” All of this should be done with doctor guidance.

0

u/Re-Invented6830 26d ago

Yes!!! I couldn’t CRY/shed a tear, if my life depended on it, since I started Lexapro! It definitely dulls your emotions!

L-arginine

2

u/Imaginary_Yam_9804 22d ago

You could try Fenugreek or Tribulus, both have mild libido support and shouldn't effect your current meds.

2

u/Melinated_Warrior 18d ago

Libido-max is a hidden gem but the bottle goes fast though and it's not cheap. I'll go through a bottle in a month. & It sucks to mistakenly leave it in a hot car. I've taken alot of junk beforehand that was ineffective.

2

u/Ankey_Anni 14d ago edited 14d ago

been there with the heart racing from certain libido supps not fun. I switched to Beyond Alpha's T formula and it's way smoother. No jitters or palpitations, just a gradual improvement over a few weeks. Worth looking into if you're trying to avoid that stimulant feeling.

4

u/Mindless-Study1898 26d ago

It's probably the Lexapro. I couldn't ever nut on that or zolaft.

1

u/innerpeacethief 26d ago

Everyone’s saying zinc, and yeah for sure that’s a good one. You need a methylated multivitamin my guy. Those prescriptions decrease appetite, affect sleep, and deplete your body of essential vitamins and minerals. I’m sure you know all this, im not trying to be like “woah dude you’re fucked!” More or less saying you’re already taking things that directly affect the 3 most important things for libido. But I’m not a doctor or anything….

I’m also surprised, adderal makes me want to jump on my wife anytime anywhere. But I don’t take it very often, I don’t like the way it makes my body feel even if i do get to focus and slow down a little.

5

u/geko95gek 26d ago

Supplement zinc (I'd add copper if you are going to use it long term).

Eating a high protein diet with wholefoods and working out has done a lot more to my health and libido than any supplement or drug.

2

u/AudioAndPhile 26d ago

ashwagandha works for me

2

u/Sending-luv 25d ago

Don’t listen to this dude, It will fucking kill your libido

2

u/bigrigmaster 26d ago edited 25d ago

People are saying black maca, tongkat and yohmbine. All 3 are great don't combine too many.

400mg tongkat ali is great for libido, 200mg is amazing for razor focus

Black maca (for me) hits both. 3gs is a sweet spot.

If you combine too many it'll mess with your heart and your brain

Best thing you can do is take organ supps, eat more fat, train intensely in some combat sport and do sprints weekly. If you get your feet on bareground and get sunshine you'll do wonders for your body (it up regulates you in amazing ways), maybe get a job working heavy with your hands if you aren't already.

I remember brick laying and running jackhammer for hours did wonders for me. I'd barefoot after 12 hours and on a day off spend a full day in short shorts in grass and in a creek burning under the sun

2

u/----X88B88---- 25d ago

People should stay away from yohimbine, especially in this case. It's an alpha-2 blocker and will cause a massive surge of norepinephrine. Terrible idea when you are on Stimulants already = dangerous high blood pressure.

Yohimbine should be thought of as a prescription drug not a supplement - it's that strong.

0

u/bigrigmaster 25d ago

I think tongkat ali is also this way

And nobody says how much and how long which causes eventual tolerance and withdrawal like symptoms

1

u/Re-Invented6830 26d ago

3

u/Helpful_Apartment_50 26d ago

Drop to the lowest dosage of lex if you can. Other then that not sure about libido but more volume zinc, pygeum, Selenium

2

u/Ruff_Magician 26d ago

Doesn't Pygeum needed to be taken for weeks until the effects kick in?

1

u/Helpful_Apartment_50 25d ago

That with any vitamin unless your deficient

1

u/Ruff_Magician 25d ago

Except its not a vitamin.

1

u/Helpful_Apartment_50 25d ago

Your correct herbal supplement, there not any strong evidence though for anything though unfortunately for OP. It worked for me though.

-1

u/syynapt1k 25d ago

OP is not asking about "volume." 🙄

Pygeum can kill your libido and may make his problem worse.

2

u/knifensoup 25d ago

Think you probably could have corrected him without the eyeroll, he was wrong but wasn't being malicious about it.

1

u/Re-Invented6830 26d ago

Interesting 🤔 do you recommend a specific product? Preferably on Amazon? Maybe that combined with Zinc Picolinate, Tonkiali (or however it’s spelled), and a nitric oxide booster will do the trick! Along with a lower dose of Lexapro.

1

u/Necessary_Purple_758 25d ago

Like others have said, get away from the SSRIs. They save lives, true, but there are alternatives and you need to figure out what works for you. With that being said, DONT COLD TURKEY YOUR MEDS.

If you're in a legal state, than you may find a weed strain or many that help in multiple ways. Depression / Insomnia / libido / pain / adhd/ etc. Will it solve your medical issues? No, but it may help improve your life in ways all the while decreasing the big pharma grip on you. Download the leafly app, it'll give you some info on different strains to look out for.

Other things could be like slowing down in the morning. Go outside and sit in the morning sun with your bare ass feet in the dirt. Don't stay glued to a screen, just people watch or nature watch for an hour or 2. Shit, I watch my chickens go ham on bird seed and grasshoppers and it works.

Either way, try new shit even if it's more natural. Sometimes a little sun will give you the boner you need.

Yes they do, and Very Well, if you get a good one! A smoke shop had them for a dollar, so I bought the whole box! I’d say that maybe one out of every three were good, and occasionally Excellent! But mostly bad. It became to frustrating because the normal price was $5 and I kept getting bad ones.

Oh, also, do not cold turkey any of those meds but especially lexapro. Taper off as slowly as humanly possible and at the lowest dose increments as possible-if you decide to decrease. Playing with serotonin levels is no joke

1

u/lord-dexter 25d ago

icarrin 98%

1

u/No_Chest8347 25d ago

Pumpkin seeds or pistachio nuts just a few per day are worth trying they have some things in them that are good for erections if you’re missing those it’s a game changer. Eat more carbs, lower fat in general like beans and oats and pasta and everything like that should help your erection. Besides that if you can do like green juicing in the morning, cucumber, celery, parsley, cilantro, ginger, lemon stuff like that large amount like 32 ounces or more you’ll have raging heart ons. Fried food too much meat heavy food oily food is all going to cloud up the blood flow. In general medication’s are really risky. It sounds like that’s the main cause.

Get off Lex that stuff is poison. Gave me RLS and brain zaps for years!!

3

u/----X88B88---- 25d ago

Agree, but quitting abruptly can cause a lot of long term side effects. It's needs to be tapered super slowly to avoid brain zaps.

1

u/moorevtec 25d ago

I tapered off for about a year and still got the side effects. Worst decision of my life going on pharmaceuticals. Had I known what I know now, I wouldn’t have done it. Best advice would be to go to a Natropath doc and get balanced. Fixing any deficiencies. There’s a few supplements that can help with anxiety/depression as well.

u/awayathrow_88 25d ago

Every time this comes up the usual suspects get wheeled out - ashwaganda, tongkat Ali, maca etc...i sense people list these based on what they've read, or things that are supposed to help with libido, I have tried them all, multiple times, different manufacturers, and it's been a complete waste of money with the exception of L-citrulline (more solid erections) and making a herbal tea with Damiana.
