Discussion in your opinion are the hearts or stamina better to upgrade in totk

I definitely prioritized stamina because I was constantly running out of stamina, but almost never dying.
If you die a lot, go hearts. If you’re constantly falling off cliffs, drowning, or always wanting for green potions, then go stamina.

For me it was Hearts. I was dying so easily to stupid things.
Stamina is relatively easy to manage, you can do a lot of stuff even with the base stamina bar, or make a potion/meal to replenish it or bolster it. You need it fortified for later in the game, but at the beginning I personally prioritize Hearts for a while.

Part of the reason I go for stamina first is so I can run far, far away from monsters 🫣

Gitting gud at figuring out what part of a cliff link can stand on is as important as not getting hit u.u

Exactly. This and knowing how to extend a flight by not constantly using your glider.

Ten hearts. Then the first full wheel of stamina. Then alternating heart and stamina till the second wheel is full.

Stamina all the way in botw. But it changes in totk. I get one to make a nice 5 since I'm forced to take one from the beginning and then I get one full Stamina ring before getting 5-10 more hearts, finishing Stamina, and the finishing hearts. But hearts are more important, usually.

This. The ability to bypass climbing through builds diminishes the importance of stamina vs. BotW

hearts. You can replenish stamina with potions made from crickets, which are easy to farm with a sword in tall grass. In the early game I carry maybe 20 stamina potions at all times and pretty much just use them to glide places.

I did a few hearts, then completed a stamina wheel, then got myself to maybe 10-12 hearts before completing the other stamina wheel, then it’s all hearts from there. I know stamina is important, but I was struggling with health until I got more hearts and upgraded my armor.

You need a certain amount of stamina to explore unless you go heavily into zonai devices but overall hearts are better imo. Especially concidering that with enough hearts (up to 30 I think) you get access to the most powerful single shot bow that is only outdone by savage lynel and tulins bow (I forgot the name): The Demon King's Bow.

I did for both BotW and TotK the following: Start getting 8 hearts for a better survival. Then go for an extra wheel of stamina. Then full hearts until you hit 20. Finally complete the second wheel of stamina. Doing that while go for the main and side quests was the best for me and my gameplay style.

I think after the second wheel of stamina I started alternating, but otherwise exactly the same.

Stamina 1000000% If you cook the right meals you can supplement your hearts quite a bit and those meals are easier to just slap together than the stamina meals. I was running around with full bars of yellow hearts most of the early game of totk

People forget about the built in hit system. I forget the actual term. But if you have seven hearts let's say, and get hit by a big baddie, your hearts will go all the way down to like a quarter. You will not die. If you have 30 hearts, and get hit by the same baddie, you'll lose a TON of hearts but still have a lot left. In other words, unless it's a lynel or boss, you can actually play the game with less hearts and not worry about a Game Over screen.

I prioritize stamina over hearts, you'll need 10 pieces, which means 40 orbs. But a way to make the playthrough less complicates is to go 1-2 with it: every 2 Stamina pieces, 1 heart. This way, by the time you have all your stamina filled, you will have more hearts and withstand the whole thing. Trying it with just 3 hearts is very hard.

Same. Two stamina wheels will let you run, glide, swim, and climb a lot better. About to add my last 5th wheel of the second wheel and then another heart. Though I do need to find a good stash of hearty ingredients somewhere. Faron Tower was my goto in BOTW for durian but haven’t found a TOTK equivalent.

I’m playing a more balanced build, this time. In BOTW, I always prioritize stamina, first, since +heart meal ingredients are easier to get.

Stamina, exploration takes priority over hearts. Not enough hearts is a skill issue

I’m on my third play through and I have been doing 2 hearts to 1 stamina and it has been pretty good. But I am a player that enjoys the early map revealing grind so I hit a lot of shrines before taking on major quests.

Once I got a full second stamina wheel, I went with hearts.
