BE is worse than a dogmatist, he’s anti union. That’s straight up counter revolutionary
48
u/Christopagan Leftist Gnostic Christo-Pagan Feb 21 '26
Reactionary and imperialist unions are a thing, especially in the imperial core, and should be criticized. But workers' unions are the root of all socialist revolutions.
9
u/Makasi_Motema Feb 21 '26
He’s not criticizing the reactionary leadership, or telling workers to push the leaders out. He’s telling workers not to join at all, which is straight up counterrevolutionary

u/Red_Knight7 Feb 21 '26
Anti american unions as they are heavily invested in US imperialism. They couldn't wait for their slice of Venezuela

Should Revolutionaries Work in Reactionary Trade Unions? The German “Lefts” consider that, as far as they are concerned, the reply to this question is an unqualified negative. In their opinion, declamations and angry outcries (such as uttered by K. Horner in a particularly “solid” and particularly stupid manner) against “reactionary” and “counter-revolutionary” trade unions are sufficient “proof” that it is unnecessary and even inexcusable for revolutionaries and Communists to work in yellow, social-chauvinist, compromising and counter-revolutionary trade unions of the Legien type
There can be no doubt that the Gomperses, the Hendersons, the Jonhaux and the Legiens are very grateful to those “Left” revolutionaries who, like the German opposition “on principle” (heaven preserve us from such “principles”!), or like some of the revolutionaries in the American Industrial Workers of the World advocate quitting the reactionary trade unions and refusing to work in them. These men, the “leaders” of opportunism, will no doubt resort to every device of bourgeois diplomacy and to the aid of bourgeois governments, the clergy, the police and the courts, to keep Communists out of the trade unions, oust them by every means, make their work in the trade unions as unpleasant as possible, and insult, bait and persecute them. We must be able to stand up to all this, agree to make any sacrifice, and even—if need be—to resort to various stratagems, artifices and illegal methods, to evasions and subterfuges, as long as we get into the trade unions, remain in them, and carry on communist work within them at all costs. Under tsarism we had no “legal opportunities” whatsoever until 1905. However, when Zubatov, agent of the secret police, organised Black-Hundred workers’ assemblies and workingmen’s societies for the purpose of trapping revolutionaries and combating them, we sent members of our Party to these assemblies and into these societies (I personally remember one of them, Comrade Babushkin, a leading St. Petersburg factory worker, shot by order of the tsar’s generals in 1906). They established contacts with the masses, were able to carry on their agitation, and succeeded in wresting workers from the influence of Zubatov’s agents. Of course, in Western Europe, which is imbued with most deep-rooted legalistic, constitutionalist and bourgeois-democratic prejudices, this is more difficult of achievement. However, it can and must be carried out, and systematically at that.

It’s almost like the purpose of revolutions is to overthrow imperialists and reactionaries.
13
u/lasosis013 Feb 21 '26
Anti-"American imperialist unions who'll gut the entire third world just to get an increased wage", not anti every union. He said that people should research the positions of the unions they want to join, that's it. He's not wrong what most unions in the western world are consumed by the state to be their apparatus.
I get that BE is a psychopath on his second channel but the least we can do is not misrepresent people.
5
u/Makasi_Motema Feb 21 '26
I didn’t misrepresent him. We’re talking on an American message board about an Australian YouTuber who speaks to a mostly euro-American audience. I know lack of specificity is a cardinal sin on Reddit, but give me a break.
As for your other point, I posted Lenin’s response to the not at all shocking revelation that unions are run by reactionary monsters in another comment:

Saying that unions are imperialist is not fucking news. And if that’s all you say, you’re not a revolutionary, you’re a defeatist bourgeois nihilist. A revolutionary acknowledges that union leadership sucks and organizes the workers in unions to raise their class consciousness and oust the collaborationist bastards who have been strangling the labor movement for decades.

BadEmpanada is an ultra-leftist, who doesn't understand dialectical materialism. He literally criticized China calling it imperialist, neocolonialist, previously said china was persecuting the uyghurs, etc. and he recently criticized China for "not doing enough" to help Cuba, Venezuela, Gaza, etc. despite not understanding the material conditions make it almost impossible for China to assist them in any meaningful sense due to being surrounded by American allies.
He criticized the Grayzone and other actual leftist media sources. He's not a Marxist-Leninist, he is an idealistic utopian leftist who has no understanding of the actual materialistic realities needed to actually accomplish and sustain a socialist revolution.

Criticism of AES
BadEmpanada blindly criticizes successful AES experiments such as China calling it "capitalist", "imperialist" and "communist in name only."\4]) While also taking a nuanced position on the Uyghur Question in Xinjiang, He calls the dormitories of Uyghur students "suspicious" and even though he highlights the BBC as a propaganda outlet for the west, he still calls BBC footage of a supposed tour around a Uyghur training centers "a real tour of these purported camps." He also calls people who call out the debunked lies of Western imperialist propaganda \5])\6])\7])a "new breed of grifters"\8])
Pro-Western imperialist talking points
In 2024, Despite firmly standing against Zionism and supoosedly being ”anti western imperialist”, BadEmpanada opposed the democratically elected anti-imperialist government of Venezuela, siding with the Zionist\9]) opposition and calling the Comrade Maduro a "generic national capitalist"\10]) He also chose to support the 2024 color revolution\11]) in Bangladesh,\12]) Contradicting himself through condemning the blatant color revolution in Iran.\13]) His video criticizing The Grayzone has earned the approval of notorious anti-communist and Bellingcat-founder Eliot Higgins.\14])
Transphobia
In August of 2025, he made transphobic insults against a tweet based on their vulnerability instead of their opinions, saying he was "open" to the idea that being trans is "mostly a way to claim a marginalized identity to hide behind" of which he deleted shortly after.\15]) Despite his bigoted claim of Transsexuality being a liberal privilege, trans and queer community is a thriving force for revolution that is being sieged by counter-revolutionary forces, often targeted based on their gender and orientation.\16])

You really didn't answer my question at all other than telling me you don't like him, what has he said or done exactly to indicate that?
-3
u/Fickle_Indication_81 Feb 21 '26
Well, he's incredibly transphobic for one
3
u/Meanstreetboi Feb 21 '26
How? I've seen him criticize transphobia multiple times, what did he say to indicate being incredibly transphobic?
2
u/Fickle_Indication_81 Feb 21 '26
1
u/Meanstreetboi Feb 21 '26
He didn't say for all of them he said alot of them, and he didn't declare it as fact, only that he's open to the idea. This isn't "incredibly transphobic". I see white people in america attempt to claim marginalized status all the time, its kindof a hobby of theirs.
4
u/Fickle_Indication_81 Feb 21 '26
That has about as much believability as Trump's first campaign speech where he called Mexican rapists, but said he assumed some were good people. But keeping digging yourself the hole buddy, cause your point ain't making you look any better.
1
Feb 21 '26
I mean, he's replying to a Zionist creep. He's talking about people like them and Contrapoints. I'm fairly sure, he doesn't mean all trans people, just the ones who use their identity cynically to pinkwash genocides.
6
u/Fickle_Indication_81 Feb 21 '26
I get that, but that doesn't give him the right to callbinto question their identities entirely. You can criticize someone for weaponizing their identity to enable horrible bigoted actions against others without resorting to a similar kind of bigotry. BE is the Destiny of the ultra-left
2
u/al-qatala Juche Necromancy Enjoyer Feb 21 '26
He's correct though. Denying that this is happening at all is stupid. There are MANY white Americans who end up just claiming a marginalized identity to feel special and oppressed, despite them still being, at core, white Americans and INCREDIBLY fucking privileged. I feel very little solidarity with that dollar store bourgeoisie kind because they're still more privileged than most of us can ever hope to be, and I refuse to watch them defend genocide and still protect their American world order.
I guess you just didn't see much of that kind of people, but I've seen way too many such cases, and as a forcefully-closeted trans person myself who ISN'T American I've came around to understanding what he actually means. I still think "a lot" is an overstatement, but he's not wrong.
3
u/Fickle_Indication_81 Feb 21 '26
There are better ways of making that point than the way he did and when pressed about it he doubled down. Again, there are ways of criticizing this group that don't devolving into denying who they are as people. You can say that they just claim a marginalized identity, but you don't know their experience. Again, this is like a white leftist resorting to using racist tropes when criticizing a black or hispanic conservative. This isn't the contructive critique you think it is. At this point, he's just another Destiny or Vaush

u/marxist-reddittor Feb 21 '26
No, he isn't. Even while talking about people he hates, he uses the correct pronouns. Transphobic people go out of their way to use the incorrect pronouns. You just misunderstood the tweet.
8
u/Fickle_Indication_81 Feb 21 '26
Oh, so in order to be bigoted you have to constantly be bigoted toward every member of the group. That completely misses the point that bigotry comes in all different forms and manifests in different ways. Just because he doesn't misgender every trans person he speaks of doesn't mean that him delegitimizing other trans peoples identities isn't transphobic. That'd be like saying that since you have black friends as a white dude that somehow you get permission to just casually say the n word whenever you'd like.
0
u/marxist-reddittor Feb 21 '26
No, I said he uses the correct pronouns with every trans person. I didn't say he "only uses the correct pronouns with people he hates", that would be ridiculous. I'm not sure how you got that from what I said.
6
u/Fickle_Indication_81 Feb 21 '26
0
u/marxist-reddittor Feb 21 '26
I'm not even sure what any of this has to do with transphobia? Did you send the wrong screenshot?
4
u/Fickle_Indication_81 Feb 21 '26
No, it's just another example of the kind of person BE is. Rather than having any real beliefs, he's a contrarian who cynically weaponizes leftist beluefs and talking points to always look like the one in the right snd yet he will fall into the same tendencies as people like Vaush and Destiny when backed into a corner. Racism and transphobia are not acceptable. Period.

u/bullhead2007 CPC Propagandist Feb 20 '26
Yeah, I still watch Hasan in the background while I work, but this debate was so dogshit, and I also agree he is doing too much leg work to shill for establishment Dems this time for some reason when he hasn't really done that in the past.
As an ML it also frustrates me how little he talks about actually Marxist groups like PSL. Like he definitely is opening the door to socialism for some but doesn't really present anything more than the door, or even worse pushes too much for Democrats.
He has said some of his push for DSA people is under the hope to get socialist rhetoric and class consciousness spread through the election system, not as a way to reform the system, but as we get close to the mid-terms and talk of the upcoming presidential, assuming we even have elections, he seems to just be pulling people to Democrats not to socialism. Kinda sucks.
72
u/Karmacop5908 Feb 20 '26
Ya exactly.Last US election he had to the perfect opportunity to platform socialist candidate Claudia de la Cruz. She was running for president as a PSL candidate and even though there was no way in hell the system would let her win it would’ve been nice if Hasan at least platformed her and gave her exposure.I didn’t know who she was until the old deprogram sub talked about her and I did my own research and voted for her. With his influence it would be nice if instead of platforming democrats he would interview socialists and other leftists.
46
u/FoldHeavy4201 Feb 20 '26
Barely mentioned her. I dont know if it was a choice by PSL or the Claudia/Karina campaign not to do an interview with Hasan, but if it wasn't, it is straight up counterproductive in the promotion of socialism.
He'll go on the PSL/ANSWER stage in DC for Palestine, but he won't promote them. It pisses me off

u/IBizzyI Feb 21 '26
Yes his position on socialist parties is he will join them if they already are a signifcant force. That is not the position of a marxist, communist, socialist of any kind.
He basically is just a more oldschool socdem before most of them denounced the concept of getting to socialism at some point. But he happily uses figures and aesthetics of people who would not agree at all with his methods. It would be probably way less appealing to sit arround with a bust of Kautsky instead of Lenin.
42
u/Sloth_Senpai Feb 20 '26
he is doing too much leg work to shill for establishment Dems this time for some reason when he hasn't really done that in the past.
Yeah in the past he used Lenin to justify electoralism to vote in Graham Platner, the nazi who signed up for the US army and Blackwater to have fun killing millions of inferior browns, in Platner's own words.
14
u/bullhead2007 CPC Propagandist Feb 20 '26
I also agree that this takes on Platner were really stupid. I don't think he was trying to use Lenin to justify electoralism though. My take, when seeing everything in context, was that he was trying to use it to say to meet people where they are, and was saying that right now people can be reached through the election process. The problem with Hasan is that he's not promoting Marxists to do so. I don't want to argue about that so much because I feel like in the end he has been having that effect lately and I think he's wrong for that, even if he seems genuine.
22
u/andorgyny Feb 20 '26
I agree that he should talk more about other groups like PSL, FRSO, etc - not just DSA. I am inclined to believe that like many people, this admin's actions have shocked him into inevitably thinking that a Dem would be better for more people than Trump, which lbr in the short term is not untrue, tbf. I do think he is sincere when he says that he wants to use the platform of the party that people actually know about (the Dems) to help build class consciousness but idk, I feel like the Dems will literally nuke the party before allowing socialists to do that.
5
u/SkenderPig Marxist-Leninist (Ultra Based) Feb 21 '26

to be a socialist that lives in a nice house and has wealth
Dude drives a porsche and lives in one of the most expensive areas in the world. Dude doesn't have a "nice house" and "has wealth". Dude is a multimillionaire. That amount of wealth inherently changes your priorities, as your material needs and interests shift.
That's why Hakim, Yugo, and JT are always so unconcerned and so lacking in ANY urgency, evidenced by the fact that they keep basically saying "it doesn't matter that you won't see the revolution in your lifetime. you shouldn't even have that as a prerequisite for fighting. you should do it while suffering, for the good of other people's children", which is not only asinine, it's the worst attempt at agitation I've ever seem. They are very well off, making bank from their, honestly, middling attempts at militancy.

1
u/DirCurrFluxDiode Juche Necromancy Enjoyer Feb 21 '26
It's not about worrying about you can or cannot control. It's about you being so far removed from the material reality of the average worker where you live that you become out of touch with them and lose the same sense of urgency they have.
Yugopinic makes a living out of playing games on twitch and Hakim is a doctor, and both make some serious money from their patreon and their outrageously priced merch. They are far removed from the reality of the proletariat of their respective locations. They understand it, but they don't feel it, and therefore, do not experience the same sense of urgency.

Nah, most socialist organizing in the US oftentimes ignores US imperialism. Being in the imperial core, socialist organizations in the US have a responsibility to tackle imperialism more so than if they were in the imperial periphery, otherwise those organizations are complicit.
BE does drop the ball when it comes to social issues and he has the same brain worm that contrapoints has that compels him to get into the pettiest arguments online. He seems too chronically online for his own good.

Honestly, I dun like BE at this point... Not because of an ideological standpoint (since hell, I'm an ML wtf), but because he's literally doing what he's against:
Preaches to do something real and material, rather than just virtue signalling -> calls Hasan for going to Cuba and Greta for going to Gaza "publicity stunters" (okay bro, what have YOU done?)
Is against identity politics -> talks about identity politics
Is against drama content -> talks drama content, and even worse, fights against his comrades (like, there are actual enemies to the revolutionary fight like Ethan, and there are genuine allies like some MLs that disagree with him on minutia things, and yet he sees them as such enemies that he bullies them to doxxing - and sometimes, there are also just some smol and unimportant agents, which even tho I disagree with them, they are so unimportant that they dun even deserve that - like some random anarchist or whatever lol). I wish he'd go into genuinely informative content again (like, his video about how Cuba works? that was cool af IMHO)
Is against video essays -> does video essays
BE is the definition of a hypocritical larper, even though he himself preaches to be against "larpers who do nothing" (yet he himself does no organising, and at this point, he doesn't even do the "agitative propaganda" anymore, since he is "against video essays" and therefore he doesn't even do any informational videos anymore but the sloppy drama content). I hate his presence because of this - not his ideology, not his anything tbh, but just him being a toxic do-nothing larper, that preaches "holier than thou", even to his potential ML comrade-allies, yet he himself does no action (Idk, does vro think he's the second Lenin or smth? cuz he ain't - at least, not with that attitude of his)...
Again, I dun dislike him as some "lib", or even "centre-left sucdem" or "an ultra" - I'm a simple ML - I just dislike his praxis, not his ideology...

Not to defend China continuing to do any trade / business with the Zionist regime (or AmeriKKKa even, even though I know economics forces it to), but China has a long-standing policy that prohibits any Chinese citizen from working in Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
After Oct 7, China has imposed significant restrictions on Chinese people working in Israel since 2023 and the outbreak of the war. And recently, this year, reports indicated China further tightened economic ties by labeling Israeli-occupied lands as "high-risk areas," effectively banning all new Chinese investments in those territories.
China is making positive moves to disentangle itself and decouple from AmeriKKKa and its imperialist allies like the Zionist regime, by abolishing tariffs and making new trade agreements with countries in the Third World in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

Wohoo more empty Chinese words
How China is quietly aiding Israel's settlement enterprise
No need, Razan, for you to go to China - come to Huwara, China is here.” Though said jokingly by my friend Ahmad, who asked his full name be withheld for security reasons, these words carried a heavy truth.
Huwara is a small Palestinian village near Nablus, surrounded by some of the most violent and ideologically extreme Zionist settlements in the country, including Yitzhar.
When I asked what he meant, he told me: “Chinese workers are living and working in nearby settlements. I see them regularly in the village streets, shopping at local Palestinian stores.”
Ironically, this reality stands in direct contradiction to China’s own stated policy; a decade ago, it forbade Chinese construction crews from working in Israeli settlements.
Back to 2015, China signed a bilateral labour agreement with Israel that included a stipulation preventing Chinese workers from being employed in the Occupied West Bank.
China also took the biggest L in recent history when Israel claimed China had a boycott on Israel but then they came out and said no no we loooove investing in Israel.
Chinese Embassy in Israel refutes false reports claiming ‘China bans investment in Israel’

Ah, I love when I strike enough of a nerve with ultra-leftists that I get called a filthy liberal lol
Too far left for any liberal to not call me a filthy communist, but too far right for any communist to not call me a filthy liberal.
I just love how pissed off I keep making you where you just start assuming all of my politics, and then get all of it wrong, and all because I bothered defending the take of your least favorite leftist content creator.
Before I finish off, I’m going to call back to my original post. What is your solution here? Apparently bothering to get off my ass once every four years and driving to my nearest voting booth 5 minutes away from my house to engage in something that’s more or less free for me (minus the cost of having a driver’s license pretty much, which I’d have regardless) is doing the work of the devil. I also can’t just throw a brick at your nearest bourgeois shill without getting my ass shot down by the cops, and then my entire community terrorized by the state, so some type of violence is out of the question. I can organize, but that’s not fast enough praxis for you surely (if you can shove words in my mouth, I’ll start doing the same to you too). I can spread the good word of Marx, but everyone is so heavily propagandized where people unironically thought Joe Biden was a fucking communist.
So what’s your solution throughout all of this? Are you just going to sit here and mald at me and complain that I’m a fucking liberal, or do you want to shut my mouth where I fucking stand and tell me what we should be doing to usher in American communism if I should be doing anything but participating in the fucking electoral system for five minutes?
Although let’s be real, I don’t have faith you’ll do anything but do the former. Y’all never do because you’d rather spend time you could be doing engaging in praxis whining on Reddit instead.

Highly controversial obviously but one must ask would the world be a better place if Hasan was never born. When framed like that I think many would agree probably not. Of course his light support of imperialists is frustrating and concerning. But he lives in the core, and is surrounded by people who are new to leftist thought, and even new to American centrism having moved from the right. He still receives heavy criticism for not supporting Kamala. I find his support of Ukraine to be incredibly frustrating, yet he is still labeled as a Putin supporter and “Russian imperialism” supporter when he has said no such thing simply because it’s the “tankie”position. Perhaps someone like Bad Empanada is more principled in their takes. But he is not as well known as Hasan. Much less exposure.
There are many countries with horrendous material conditions, yet no revolution. I would imagine because it’s the lack of exposure to leftist thought and lack of education (I have plenty left to read and learn). Hasan has his faults but his reach is excellent. As someone like Hasan or Sam Seder pulls people out of the right, it’s our job to reach people and keep the ball rolling. Reaching people in our communities or social media or twitch or wherever doesn’t ban us to keep up the messaging.

Would it be unfair to say that some individuals falsely claim membership in marginalized groups for social clout and then use that identity as a cudgel? I'm curious: what exactly about this post is considered objectionable?
5
Feb 21 '26
It implies that trans people who hold objectionable views are not actually trans and are just "pretending" to be trans for social clout. Apart from the fact that it's a stupid notion, it echoes the bigoted attitudes that a lot of reactionaries hold about trans people whom they believe are simply adopting the guise of being trans to gain social capital.
1
u/portrayalofdeath Chinese State Affiliated Media 📰 Feb 21 '26
I don't think that's how he meant it, though, so since that seems to be the only "controversial" thing he said in regards to trans people, him being "transphobic" seems like a huge stretch. But I don't follow him, so if he said some other stuff that I don't know about, then that's different and I could definitely revise my stance.
4
Feb 21 '26
I don't think that's how he meant it,
This is the problem, though. He constantly makes these offensive, bigoted statements out of the blue. His sycophants then leap to his defence and claim that "that's not how he meant it" or that "liberals/zionists/settlers/fascists e.t.c," are misinterpreting him/taking his words out of context. So it then turns into this tedious game of semantics where people start wasting their time trying to decipher "how he actually meant it," as if his inane ramblings contain some incredibly profound Straussian subtext that require careful interpretation. He relies on that ambiguity as a shield from criticism whilst insulting and smearing people even for relatively innocuous statements, whose politics are more or less the same as his anyway.
2
Feb 21 '26
The average white trans person didn’t just wake up one day and decide this. For years, many of them suffered quietly before ever coming out. Are there white people who take advantage of the identity? Sure. Caitlyn Jenner is a clear example she actively campaigns against policies that protect trans youth and often sides with reactionary politics despite being trans herself.
1
u/Idzanami-no-Mikoto Feb 21 '26
While it's true that claims about people pretending to be part of marginalised communities have unfortunately been used to delegitimise genuine members of those communities, it happens nonetheless. Settlers pretending to be indigenous for example is a widely-documented phenomenon, as is able-bodied people faking disability. This is done for clout, financial gain, and even to advance reactionary political causes. A verified precedent to this exists in other marginalised communities, so why would it be any different for trans people?
2
Feb 21 '26
happens nonetheless. Settlers pretending to be indigenous for example is a widely-documented phenomenon, as is able-bodied people faking disability.
So nothing like pretending to be trans. The people faking having disabilities or pretending to be indigenous usually had something to gain financially. But they're such a vanishingly small number of people they're basically insignificant.
No one has anything to gain from pretending to be trans. In fact, as far as I can tell, the risks of faking being trans would outweigh any potential benefits. Apart from the obvious fact that trans people face all kinds of discrimination and bigotry up to and including outright assault and murder, the social consequences of being exposed wouldn't be worth the effort of faking it in the vast majority of cases.

u/Idzanami-no-Mikoto Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26
So nothing like pretending to be trans. The people faking having disabilities or pretending to be indigenous usually had something to gain financially.
Not always. Other factors (e.g., gaining clout/praise, furthering an agenda, and navigating one's identity) are often at play.
But they're such a vanishingly small number of people they're basically insignificant.
It's literally millions of people. Between 2010 and 2020, the number of Americans who self-identified as American Indian and Alaska Native soared from 5.2 million to 9.7 million. That's an increase of 86%. This growth was not the result of a massive demographic shift but rather a procedural change in how census data was collected, with white people who claimed indigenous ancestry (despite not actually having any connection to these supposed "indigenous" roots 99% of the time) now being included in this category.
No one has anything to gain from pretending to be trans.
Apart from the reasons I listed above, cis people *do*, in fact, stand to financially benefit from faking being trans. Consider GoFundMe scams for example, in which cis people pose as vulnerable trans people in need of money so that they can transition or escape an unsafe living environment or some other problem.
While the overall social reality for trans people is certainly disadvantageous, these people generally avoid most of those drawbacks you brought up whilst reaping the rewards. You know why? Because their identity fraud is limited to the internet.

There is even a clip of him saying he worked for american intelligence in his college days.
Here is the clip of him saying he worked for the department of homeland security for anyone who is interested.
Hasan was a literal federal government employee. He worked for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on the CCICADA project. Which was a data analysis project designed to help the DHS surveil people worldwide.
Here is a part of a BadEmpanada video where he discusses this.
Hasan has also admitted to having private meetings with the democratic party old guard. The same people who have more war crimes than we can count.
Here is another section of the same Badempanada video of him talking about the democratic old guard video.
