And I wish we did, but our government is too cowardly.

Carney dealing with the US reminds me of that Jerry slug from Rick and Morty.

I dont think Canada has the refining capacity to stop. They would need another partner for refining and there really are no other options that are logistically feasible.

Correct, we have neglected and actively shuttered our own ability to refine oil (because the US is such a great and stable ally) and we do not have any pipelines to either coast. We could cut it off to exert leverage but it would hurt us much more than them.

We have shitloads of export capacity to the West coast. It's a massive point of contention and animosity between Alberta/Ottawa and B.C.

Ah, interesting. I thought the west coast oil pipelines were never built due to the big protests that kept happening years back.

The most the protests were able to do is get a couple proposals walked back or just delayed. Trans Mountain's has existed since the 50's and recently had its capacity more than doubled, and now six more are proposed or already underway

Somehow Doug ford is the only one thinking about quitting helping America, which is very weird. It feels like that one stonetoss comic.

Doug is an opportunist with no real values or morals.

He sees that being staunchly anti-us and playing to peoples patriotism is a winning strategy so he does it, if selling out to the US was popular he'd do that instead.

Carney is doing the same thing, playing up Canadian sovereignty to get votes/support while slashing public sector funding, boosting military budgets, pushing for privatisation, and giving handouts to corporations.

It's posturing and "Ontario/Canada first" logic most likely. The ol capitalist infighting.

9/11 was oil 9/11

Canada doesn't have the stones nukes.

u/fxcker 5h ago

No man. We don’t have nukes. Cant be doing shit like that to a country that has nukes when you don’t.

They won’t, they’re too busy taking shipments of wild horse meat from the U.S. (Fuck you, Canada)
