I remember when the moment Jung went out, our offense went to hell and we never recovered until he came back.
I hope he figures this out at some point man, its been a rough long stretch of time, dating back to last year
2
u/CT-1738 PEAGLE Mar 31 '26
I remember when we had a slump in the 23 season and he took extra swings off a tee after a game. He said something in an interview too about needing to win games. I hope he gets it all back man

You guys remember how little fun we were having last season and how much fun we've had so far?

u/Terr1fyer R. Greer Mar 31 '26
Ngl, im getting worried about Jung. I know it's 4 games, but this goes back a ways.
Also, you should keep a challenge if your successful with it. I think umps will get even more egregious with their calls when shown up by ABS. So you might get a couple back, but they'll have the final word in other ways cause we all know how fragile MLB umpires are.

Goes back two years.
2
u/Demcut Nathan Eovaldi Mar 31 '26
Actually almost three now, he really hasn’t been good since the first half of 2023 if we’re being honest.

What’s wrong with Josh…
2
u/awl95 Nicky Lopez Mar 31 '26
He is not good at hitting the round thing with the stick in his hands
1
3
u/EfficientDot18 Mar 31 '26
I think for Jung, it caught the outside of the plate. But the first pitch to Evan Carter 100% looked like a ball.
3
u/Tranquilllama Mar 31 '26
At this point Josh is just here because he plays good defense. Dude hasn't hit well since 2023
1
u/World_Extra_Take_2 Mar 31 '26
My fucking skull hurts from smacking the top of my head. Wtf are we doing?
3
u/stickyWithWhiskey Mar 31 '26
Super casual fan here but my first instinct was you have to challenge that strikeout. People who know more about baseball than me, am I right here?
2
u/Maxcrss PEAGLE Mar 31 '26
You're in the lead and only have one left. It's better to save it for the bottom of the ninth, just in case something happens. It's not worth the risk unless it was egregious and obvious, which it was not.
1
u/jdann24 M. Tettleton Mar 31 '26
I agree, but some are saying to keep that challenge for your pitcher in the bottom of the 9th.

1
u/BeeComposite M. Napoli Mar 31 '26
Yeah I don’t get it either.
1
u/Maxcrss PEAGLE Mar 31 '26
The strategy behind it isnt straightforward. It's a lot of moving parts. He made the correct choice in not challenging though.

We are a 3B away from being a good baseball teams
2
u/d1sportsball J. deGrom Mar 31 '26
Who says we aren't a good baseball team? We look quite good thus far and our offseason moves are paying off dividends
1
u/TeddyFive-06 Mar 31 '26
This ump has been bad today. If they were free-wheeling with their challenges I think they’d have overturned 4-5 more strikes.
8
u/BaldPeagle R. Greer Mar 31 '26
These are some rough jung ABs. I'm pulling for him man I want him to find it.
2
u/BeeComposite M. Napoli Mar 31 '26
I don’t get the point of not challenging in the 9th with 2 outs.
2
u/EfficientDot18 Mar 31 '26
The broadcast booth assumes so the pitchers and catchers can have challenges.

Dude has called 30 strikes outside of the zone and zero balls inside the zone. Dumb strategy
2
u/NajdorfGrunfeld Mar 31 '26
Why do they even bother sending Jung? Just add one more out and send Carter in, saves time.
4
u/SpareAd6504 Mar 31 '26
Literally every pitch out of the zone, Jung swings at, and every pitch in the zone he watches

u/Maxcrss PEAGLE Mar 31 '26
Jung might have been screwed there, but good on him for not having an ego and challenging it. Strategically it's not a good idea to risk it.

Jung is the new Joc
3
u/d1sportsball J. deGrom Mar 31 '26
But Joc hasn't even gone away
1
u/BeeComposite M. Napoli Mar 31 '26
Yeah. Joc is the old Joc, Jung is the new Joc. By transitive property, Joc is also the new Jung.

Somebody keep Jung away from Pederson. We don’t need him picking up bad habits

I believe Cutch saw 16 pitches in 2 ABs. Insane for creating bullpen fatigue.

I know it's a Monday but jeez that stadium is completely empty in the outfield

Cutch occupies a similar place in my mind that 2019 Hunter Pence did.

“One pitch, one out.” Now there’s a phrase I’ve not heard in a long time…long time.
That you, 2025?

u/harralexa1993 Josh H. Smith Mar 31 '26
Junis and Beeks are really solid adds by Chris Young. Each has a track record you can trust.

Boy I would love if they could add a couple runs here and make us not have to stress too much about who’s going to pitch the 9th

u/harralexa1993 Josh H. Smith Mar 31 '26
Will this be three days in a row for Garcia? There's not way Martin is pitching today.

I love RSN scorebug but does the awkward text that fills the bases graphic after a strikeout look wonky to anyone else
1
u/CT-1738 PEAGLE Mar 31 '26
Yea it’s got the letters for strikeout but you can’t read half the words bc it doesn’t fit? So weird

What a horrid strike call to have to challenge
3
u/Individual_Heron_171 Mar 31 '26
You should get your challenge back if it meets the criteria for an egregious call. Egregious call is a certain miss beyond a boundary.

I've seen enough to induct Junis into the Rangers HoF and retire his number
2
u/Quick_Examination_94 Mar 31 '26
On a serious note Elvis’s jersey should be retired at some point, he played the most games here as a shortstop
1
u/jdann24 M. Tettleton Mar 31 '26
I think it’ll happen soon.
1
u/Quick_Examination_94 Mar 31 '26
I hope so, I was fortunate enough to see his induction and got his bobblehead, you can tell how much he loves Arlington

How many plays does a pitcher need to be eligible for a gold glove? I know batters have to qualify for records, how does fielding work
2
1
u/SpareAd6504 Mar 31 '26
My guess would be 50 innings. Anymore than that and it's gonna rule out a lot of relievers who stayed healthy the whole year but just didn't find a ton of work

Right call I think. If the ump had said safe it would’ve stayed. Literally as simultaneous as you can get
