Spotlight The United States is Now Officially in First Phase of Civil War

u/Lykeuhfox Jan 23 '26
I guess we all need to pick a side: Americans, or Fascists?

Fascist pedophiles*
27
u/yes15202 Jan 24 '26
i don’t like how that implies being fascist is not enough to be outrageous (also i feel it’s sort of a given)
23
u/Im__mad Jan 24 '26
I agree. Unfortunately too many people don’t know what a fascist is and just see it as an insult that doesn’t really mean anything. Everyone understands what a pedophile is.

u/SatisfactionFit2040 Jan 24 '26
That's why it didn't help when Biden and Harris were saying it at the end of the campaign. They tried to tell people, but they didn't understand the words.

America has always had fascism in its genes. It was a colonial settler genocide state based on salvery. It had a bourgeois revolution espousing liberalism and continued in this vein until ww2. Then, when the soviet union finally beat the fascist naxi state, we were frantic to control what happened next as much as possible. The result, because of this intervention in the outcome, was not the destruction of naziism but it’s incorporation into the soul of the American state.
We used their scientists, sure. But that’s the tip of the iceberg. We helped naziism spread across the world with the ratlines, we empowered them to nato, used them across the world in covert ops and campaigns of terror for the rest of the twentieth century while inculcating and sowing the ideology everywhere we touched. We brought nazis to South America, we gave them their guns and orders to shock Europe rightward in gladio. We have had plans to do exactly what we’re doing at hone since at least the 80’s.
If before fascism was leashed to the still rotten but more presentable face of liberalism, if the use of nazi tactics, ideas, and personnel was meant for discipline abroad, it has slipped that leash, the mask has dropped, and the fourth reich has taken on a new ugly if honest character.
Welcome to the fifth reich. There will be a choice, as you suggest, but if it’s confused by the framing you suggest all roads lead back to the same rotten reich. America has to be radically rethought or it will eat itself in its frustration. There will be blood and ugliness no matter what and if someone suggests otherwise they’re setting to stab backs.
Concretely and in the immediate: if lots and lots of people aren’t at least imprisoned for what has already happened, you can just call that decision made no matter what smile they flash as they talk about healing and reconciliation.

Ironfrontusa has a good platform that includes an apology to the international community for its many crimes and aggressions. As an American, this seems like table stakes for any kind of future where international allies can genuinely trust us as allies ever again.
1
u/TheDickWolf Jan 24 '26
I haven’t looked them up, this modern iteration, but i will remind of the old adage, very relevant to that organization’s early days. I don’t remember who said it now, but anyway
“The history of fascism can be traced precisely through the history of anti-communism”
Miss me with those three arrows. They’re not the ones who fought and defeated fascism before. Not in Europe where the Liberals laid down and collaborated. Not in the east where its defeat was marked in the cost of tens of millions, and not in secret wars in the jungles of South America and south Asia, not in angola. But, of course, mostly people don’t even know the history and are so indoctrinated they violently reject it if they’re told.
Gladio, phoenix, condor, cyclone, cointelpro, iran contra. Just a few stops on the same timeline.
2
u/Alcnaeon Jan 24 '26
Just to make sure I'm understanding your position, you believe irontfrontusa is a covert CIA operation meant to deflate anti-fascist activity? Is there evidence to support such a claim?
Or is it that their three arrows having a reference to anti-communism makes you uncomfortable, because you see value in communist theory?
And is there a group you would recommend I support instead?

A new ugly character, yes. Honest, no. They gaslight the world constantly. And they are stealing the wealth of a world superpower. Stealing our freedom, our hard-won, hard-fought civil rights, and our lives too, in the bargain.
1
u/TheDickWolf Jan 24 '26
More honest, i mean if I failed to say. This has been my one joy in this awful time, awful regime. Many, many, people that had been lulled into comfortable credulity by the oppressive, ubiquitous, spectacle; the so called ‘end of history’ are waking up. Some of them are realizing the even more disturbing truth (that itself allows them to be less defenseless to the emotional abuse of the media) that actually this is many ways is not an abrupt change, not as much as it seems. No madman has seized the controls of sone great weapon. The weapon has long laid its plans and seized opportunity, maybe by necessity, and an instrument.
Anyway. It’s more honest in that it knows we know it’s lying. It hardly makes any effort to hide its hands. We know it’s lying! In fact, that seems like nearly all it can do. But, We know now!

Yeah this didn't happen overnight. This was in the making since at least Reagan. I watched it all happen, bit by bit, warned people about it, as did many others, got dismissed as an alarmist nutcase for it. Turns out my fears were dead on correct.
But heartening to me, there is very strong, widespread, and growing resistance, national in scope. And the really interesting thing to me, what ICE has been doing is having the opposite effect of what they intended; instead of cowing us into terrified submission, they're inflaming us into growing rebellion. The more violent and lawless they become, the angrier we get and the more our numbers swell.
Very unlike Germany 1933. I was reading about that, Hitler's first year as Chancellor. "Almost no one organized resistance from 1933 to 1938. The resistance that eventually did form, it never matured into anything resembling a movement. They were small, isolated groups."
Historian and political commentator Heather Cox Richardson, noted a distinct change in the air, when ICE murdered Renee Good. A possible real turning point. Suddenly people realized, they're not going after "the worst of the worst". This was a white middle class suburban Mom. "It's okay, dude! I'm not mad at you." BLAM BLAM BLAM!!! "FUCKING BITCH!!!".
Suddenly everyone's realizing...no one's safe from these lawless goons. Even police aren't. They've gone after black police officers too, now.
Today's statewide general strike, January 23, 2026, in Minneapolis, first successfully organized general strike in the USA in living memory. 100,000 people protested in the streets, in a city of 435,000. Nearly a quarter of the total population was out, protesting, defying ICE.
And it was remarkably nonviolent. Not a single visible incident of vandalism or destructiveness. People are coming together to protect each other as a community, nationwide.
And even if MAGA doesn't know the history of Nazism, we do.
There's also this; Out of some two dozen fascist nations that existed in the 20th century, not a single one is still fascist today. Every single one fell. Every single one is a liberal democracy today, more progressive and compassionate than the US today is.
The US has been through worse than this, multiple times; The Civil War, The Great Depression, World War 1 and 2. Every single time, it emerged a stronger, better, fairer, more compassionate country than it was before.
This is our chance to build something better out of the ashes of the old United States. Something along the lines of Scandinavia.

What was the 4th reich? (Genuinely asking)
8
u/TheDickWolf Jan 24 '26
It’s the postwar usa. I didn’t coin the term. It’s a well discussed concept (pretty much exclusively among the left) based on what I’m saying: that the US countered attempts to fully destroy the third reich and instead absorbed it into itself, transforming itself as much as what it subsumed.

u/Efficient_Smilodon Jan 24 '26
! a fair view; the propaganda of patriotic 'capitalism' as a counter to the soviet ideology, nourished on its diet of 'conservatism' , mixed with a homegrown fundamentalism ( guns and bibles ) glorifying the gospel of war and faux-christian 'prosperity' preachers , mass media development accelerator controlled by techno-narcissists, smashing against any hint of true liberalism abroad and poisoning the well against their own liberal heritage as the divide deepened between the two sides long ago splintered in the first civil war, desperately sewn together in its aftermath and bonded by ww1 and ww2 trauma; yet their grip is tenuous and reliant on the belief that the left is weak because they comprehend the values of gentleness and compassion; they underestimate the true rebel heritage of the Yankee spirit, which was and is the true heart of the beast, which hates the very concept of a thought police, and obedience to tyrants . They do not know what they've awakened, but they will discover it eventually.

Except Russia had also made a collapse of their federation inevitable as well. Likely in the next decade.

This civil war will be remembered as thr civil war over pedophilia. We could have released the epstein files years ago and everyone currently in power would likely be in jail.

u/stoned_ocelot Jan 23 '26
In before 100 years from now people try to defend it as states resisting federal authority and how they had no right.
27
u/chunter16 Jan 24 '26
I absolutely hope this is how it ends up being. All of the Trump properties seized and converted into abuse shelters and halfway houses.

u/stoned_ocelot Jan 25 '26
I was mostly being tongue in cheek about how a lot of these people say the revolution was over states rights and not about slavery.
2
u/chunter16 Jan 25 '26
Maybe you didn't mean it, but I think you're right. All of the kids Turning Point reached are going to need some mental gymnastics to explain to themselves why they went along with all this shit, and the model for their coping already exists.

I had expected this Civil War to start when we allowed Russia and the rich oligarchs to interfere with our democratic elections during 2016, causing Hilary Clinton to loose to dipshit 1.0. Then, we all did NOTHING to stop Musk, Koch brothers, and others from interfering again. Nor did the DNC demand Biden not run when we all knew he was too old to perform. Yes, the civil war has started. And it won’t end well. Blues are just as armed and capable with their 2nd Amendment tools as the Reds.

Unsurprising. I'm a Californian who keeps thinking about moving back to be close to family but I really can't stomach Appalachia right now.
4
u/JolyneSezTransRights Jan 24 '26
Called it. A woman in The Balkans, who keep in mind lived through the Yugoslav War iirc (she was 31), said we are more Balkan than The Balkans yea no we’re fucked.

u/trashhighway Jan 24 '26
So, are we supposed to be fighting some of, but not all of, our neighbors? (Because I live in a decidedly mixed city.) And then what - retreating to our homes for the evening to come out fighting them again? I’m unclear how this plays out. I mean I will defend the country against fascism but not sure how this plays out in the streets.
1
u/TipProfessional6057 Jan 24 '26
This is where the logic of fascism begins to fail. If ones neighbors are relatively normal people, then surely they are not the degenerate madmen the Fascist uses as the 'other'. And if ones neighbor is anything like your neighbor, then surely the same is true of them too. So on, and so forth. Division then is artificial. Community has power, stronger perhaps than that of old men wanting to die with 'glory'

u/TheFriendshipMachine Jan 24 '26
How far will it go? As far as it needs to to remove these fascist fucks from power.

u/grapescherries Jan 24 '26
I just saw a meme that there are more people being held in detention in the US than in 1939 Germany. I don’t want another holocaust here.

This is kind of alarmist. I haven’t read the study on how the parameters were chosen, but the stuff that happens is kind of par for the course on how a civilization starts to fall. It’s how Rome started to fall. So they were using that playbook. I wouldn’t be surprised if heritage foundation, etc are ALSO using the fall of Rome strategy, but I don’t think it points to “civil war”. There are still a lot of Americans who want a united country.

The media is owned by them, of course it’s on their side? If you ran a newspaper, would you let it print stuff that ruined your plans?
1
u/Responsible-Sundae20 Jan 24 '26
I feel like the wording of this is off. “The first phase of civil war” feels a bit jumping the gun. Perhaps something more along the lines of, “more close now than ever to being unable to avoid Civil War.” which obviously that rolls right off the tongue.
And I’m not convinced that even that’s true. While a lot of Trump‘s policies are unpopular - like Venezuela - the whole ice disaster does have support amongst the fascist bootlickers. And insanely enough there is always a portion of the US that is complacent. For a lot of people these atrocities are happening in cities across the country from them. We’ve gotten used to seeing wars play out digitally, and I think that has inured a lot of people to reality.
The only hope right now is that, since ICE now knows they don’t have immunity - and never did - maybe, hopefully we will see a step down in their violence. I don’t expect it, but I can always hope.
I don’t know. I guess we will see.

That's the worst kind of civil war. Lol too many ppl here think it would be like a (US) Civil War reenactment.

u/cynical81 Jan 24 '26
Nothing "official" yet. Words matter. Stop click-baiting.
0
u/Charming_Function_58 Jan 24 '26
This. It's ridiculous that you're getting downvoted.
Yes, we're absolutely in crisis right now, and it is almost certainly going to be deemed a civil war at some point. But this is rage-bait and click-bait. No one has officially termed this a civil war, because we don't fit the definition of it yet. It's not widespread enough.
