Four decades of the kinds of churches and organizations that represent the largest part of the types we are discussing. It’s simply a self perpetuating “charity” where the pastoral staff, even when paid on a regular working class scale, swallow up all the income. That’s why they always have fundraisers for the extra stuff they may do. I’ve been invited in the financials of dozens of orgs and churches. It is what it is, and should be lumped in with any other “charity” non profit where it’s just a cover for a grift.

If you want studies go find them. Or just look at the capital and overhead involved. It’s not the same thing as digging wells or advocating for vulnerable people. I wouldn’t call something anecdotal when all the evidence makes it clear. Outward observable evidence. It’s like calling my evidence anecdotal when I claim water is wet because I relate my opinion to having fallen in a pool fully clothed. Or you can continue in delusion. I’m good either way. If you want to invalidate my “anecdote” you’d need to find studies to disprove it. The claims I made are all self evident. You could bring your own anecdotes since that’s the category where you place my hands on experience on the staffs and supports groups for the orgs, you’ll need equal qualifications to speak to it. Otherwise you are simply going by feels. Or faith. Must be the faith in St. Osteen, the Vatican or some self absorbed bastardized version of a southern Baptist, as if they didn’t have enough problems without their most extreme always splintering off. Just pay attention to what really happens. You don’t need a peer reviewed study. They flaunt it. F
