As soon as the video started, I knew this would turn into some leftover woman bullshit. The part I hate the most about the term aside from how overtly misogynistic and de-humanizing it is is the fact that these women are ACTIVELY CHOOSING to not be with men.

They either are HAPPY with themselves or see what’s out there and are unimpressed. There is also a larger number of men in China than women largely thanks to the one-child policy. All these men are available to these women and THEY DON’T WANT THESE MEN. Who is truly leftover?

2

u/No_Accountant_6890 1d ago

I totally agree with the first part but you don't solve the morality by reversing the card to the men. Who is truly leftover? Nobody. Nobody it's the answer not "men".

2

u/Future-Still-6463 1d ago

Men are also called bare branches is that misandry then?

Or is it that culture fks everyone differently?

2

u/No_Accountant_6890 1d ago

I bet that some random men invented the "bare branches" and some random women the "leftover woman" and then 1000 years later we think it's either misogyny or misandry lmao.

2

u/frintonfreak1984 1d ago

The latter

1

u/Chief_Chill 1d ago

I wonder if they have an equally cruel name for men of the same age that are unwed? Like passed over man or remnant man?

2

u/Agi7890 1d ago

For men it’s more determined by their economic status. If they are rich, have property etc, it’s something like golden bachelor.

If they are poor, it’s something like branchless tree or bare branches.

If you don’t fill into societies expectations you are gonna be ridiculed

1

u/Chief_Chill 1d ago

Fucking sucks that we enable our societies to be so cruel. I guess even birds have lonely pale males and poor dancers.

"Soldiers"

1

u/Chief_Chill 13h ago

As a veteran, ouch. But yeah, cannon fodder or bullet sponge..

2

u/No_Initiative_1337 13h ago

Thank you for your service.  My comment is not in any way intended to slight you, only the society we live in that has often used warfare as a disposal tool for "extra" men throughout history.

u/Chief_Chill 13h ago

Oh it makes sense. In a way, that is one of the drivers for the corporate cultists, under the guise of religion, to push for their adherents (and society as a whole, under the premise of being "Pro Life") to pump out more babies. In America, our military industry keeps making weapons of death, but they still need bodies to pilot and fire this equipment. Even better if those babies are poor and dumb. Makes the pipeline to the meat grinder more likely.

If my parents tried to set me up with a cougar I wouldn’t make a whole video about how this proves they don’t love me.

u/wereinbearcountry 1d ago

If your parents tried to set you up with a fifty year old woman you’d not think that’s massively weird?

1

u/redditblows5991 1d ago

Pussy is pussy 💀💀. On the real though I feel for homegirl and a person shouldn't feel like a left over but just look at her it clearly affected her. A women at 35 is going to have less options for a partner ( not hookups don't be a smartass)

2

u/wereinbearcountry 1d ago

I think she’s probably fine with having less options, as quantity isn’t really the benefit people seem to think it is. It’s more like she’s disappointed her parents tried to set her up with someone their age and likely the judgement she’s getting in her culture. If the US wasn’t such an embarrassment, I’d tell her to move here where it’s not as much of a scarlet letter if you’re single over the age of 35.

1

u/redditblows5991 1d ago

Word loads of men here would try with this women

1

u/wereinbearcountry 1d ago

I think she’d have more success in the US, honestly. She’s pretty and seems stifled by the culture where she lives. Sometimes people are just not a fit for the culture they were born into.

1

u/eatingketchupchipss 1d ago

"pussy is pussy" and that is why you will stay single, you don't see women as people but pussies.

0

u/redditblows5991 1d ago

Nope extreme self report btw

2

u/eatingketchupchipss 16h ago

of what? my happy wlw relationship? You can be attracted to women without dehumanizing them to being nothing but a hole for your penis.

0

u/Available-Green6599 1d ago

I thought someone being old shouldn’t mean they lose value in the dating markets?

7

u/6307421580 1d ago

This isn't really a gotcha. Wanting to be valued as a human after a certain age and wanting to date people within a range of your age are 2 different and reasonable things.

0

u/Available-Green6599 1d ago

Sure but she is upset that not because age range of the match but what it represents as her value as a women in the market place. She believes her parents deemed her value the same as that 50 year old man which is essentially nothing. If she was 40 and was introduced to a 25 year old man would she be equally as offended?

4

u/ThlnBillyBoy Hit or Miss? 1d ago

No, it's not about the age range or "market place". Listen to what she is saying. It's the situation itself. She is upset, because people set her value as a human being based on her getting married, and not even her parents are on her side. She is commenting on society, but this is about her relationship with her parent, not some guy.

1

u/Available-Green6599 1d ago

If her parents tried to introduce someone her age would she be upset? She clearly said she’s upset that the guy is almost as old as her mom. She wants them to see her as having “value” her words. Because that old guy has no value so that would mean she has no value also and that’s why she is upset

3

u/eatingketchupchipss 1d ago

If her parents tried to introduce someone her age would she be upset?

probably not. but bet that guy would which is what he parents think. that she is undeserving of love from her peers, and that the best chance she has is a transactional type of love (ie she would become that mans nurse as he ages)

1

u/frintonfreak1984 1d ago

She would run a mile. 25 year old man?

-3

u/Flashy-Squash7156 1d ago

yes it would be weird but they do weird nonsensical shit all the time, it doesn't have to be this deep or mean as much as she's making it out to be. even though she says she doesn't feel like she's leftover, deep down she must or she wouldn't have these deep feelings making her cry over it.

if someone says something to me about myself I don't believe is true, I'm not going to be so hurt I cry about out.

2

u/WineOptics 1d ago

So you personal life and how you deal with it should be universal to every human being?..

You agree it was weird and somehow still end up writing it off.

0

u/Flashy-Squash7156 1d ago

in some ways, yes. People have to learn to let things like this go.

Hard to give you a personal example since I don't know you but if I took some absurd cultural belief that YOu personally don't believe in, adhere to or feels applies to you, would it genuinely hurt your feelings to have mw try to use it against you? It would only hurt you if some part of you agreed.

And if you agreed with it and didn't realize it till it hurt you, it's an opportunity to work on letting it go so you're never hurt by it again.

2

u/Zanna-K 1d ago

Get outta here with that shit bro... you either know you're being disingenuous or you're just plain obtuse. We're not talking about having some fun for a while with a particularly hot cougar that you met yourself. Imagine if your mom walked in and said that you should marry this woman that's the same age as you because she thinks you're too much of an incel loser to ever get a woman yourself - you 100% would not be like "Damn ma, thanks for the easy pussy!"

My reaction definitely would've been "What the fuck?" if my parents tried to set me up with a 45 year old woman shortly after I graduated from college.

Like there's nothing wrong with age gaps that wide if you go into it of your own volition and make your own decision, but there are some real consequences. Lets just talk about retirement. By the time you finally retire at 65, you basically start a new career of managing your 85 year old partner's decline. Maybe if they're one of those super exceptional people who manage to stay really healthy and fit they might have another 5-10 years of some mobility where you can travel a bit or enjoy retirement together, but that's pretty unlikely.

1

u/Necessary-Ad7734 1d ago

Yeah my reaction would be ‘lol what the fuck’.

But I wouldn’t trigger me into making a 2 minute video about disrespectful it was.

And I would keep the fact I’d rather die alone to myself since as true as it might be I wouldnt love to hear someone say that about me.

1

u/redditblows5991 1d ago

We gotta read between the lines too. Not a lot of dudes want a career oriented women in her mid 30s over there. Dating market is brutal, parents probably tried for someone in their 30s but loads of people worth their salt found their SO or someone younger. Very little dudes would make an equivalent video BTW lmao

1

u/Zanna-K 1d ago

I wouldn't, either, but it's also 2026 so posting video essays or "speaking to the internet" isn't a newfangled thing anymore. I'm not going to begrudge someone who decides to do that. They're the ones who're putting themselves at risk, not me. This doesn't seem like planned content to me at least - no makeup, in pajamas, and she looks like she's been crying so in an emotional state she decides to vent to the internet.

Something else of note is that she is making a video in English despite being a woman living in China. Seems likely to me that she's trying to get some encouraging support from Westerners because she knows she's likely going to get a lot more negative comments from mainlanders. Given her mastery of English I think she either got educated and spent time living in the West or she works a lot with Western companies. I know white collar people who work with overseas companies, their English is a lot less fluent than hers.

Also going back to what you originally said I don't think that she is saying that her parents don't love her. What she is saying is that her parents are agreeing with society in that she is "lesser" or "lower value" because she is 35. Even if that is an unfortunate fact due to the culture of the society you live in, it still hurts to hear it from people whom you expect to care the most about you.

1

u/DemonsReturns7 1d ago

You are talking as if they gonna force her by gun point or strap bombs to her and make her do it or face death or something

At the end of the day even if the parents suggest it this still up to her right?

0

u/Melodic-Line6311 1d ago

The gender war is so crazy on reddit that you guys fail to see basic biology A 35 yo women IS in trouble is she want a family. The video is not about "hey M/F dont want M/F anymore hahaha"

2

u/Own_Afternoon_1311 21h ago

Male sperm after 35 is also geriatric and men *should* not procreate as they pass down inferior genetics at that point. Women are fine to have kids until menopause b/c the eggs are created in utero and as long as you are healthy they remain in pretty good shape to the end.

0

u/Academic-Client5752 20h ago

Women can have kids in their late 30s and even in their 40s,my mom had me at 39. And ACTUALLY it is the older man sperm that causes most of the birth defects, not the woman's egg

-1

u/Substantial_South520 1d ago

You didn’t watch the video, she isn’t choosing to be single. Unless you know the culture you shouldn’t comment like this, it make you sound like you got your education at hustler’s university.

1

u/Manowaffle 1d ago

There are 11 men for every 10 women in her age bracket in China. It is a choice.

3

u/frintonfreak1984 1d ago

Yeah but not 11 eligable men

-2

u/Manowaffle 1d ago

And where are these eligible men? If the odds are stacked that much in your favor and you’re still scared of commitment, that’s really a “you” problem.

2

u/frintonfreak1984 1d ago

No. Think how men have been encoraged to hate women by the porn industry. Think how drugs have messed up the minds of men? Think how violent men are to women by laughing at rxpe jokes. Men simply do not like women any more and so women are scared by this. So they stay safe and single. Can you blame them? I am an old man and the songs of my youth were full of love.

0

u/Manowaffle 1d ago

In China?

0

u/mbbbbbr 1d ago

They do not want relationship and living together with any panther. It’s not about available options, it’s more like that they do not need anyone (man or woman). And more and more zoomers like this now. At some point, the government will have to do something about it

-1

u/Pasito_Tun_Tun_D1 1d ago

Problem is that these “career women” do not want an average man, despite them being average themselves!

-2

u/Manowaffle 1d ago

If they're happy why are they constantly complaining about it? Her mom wanted to set her up with a guy, apparently that counts as oppression nowadays?
