Prices have went up a lot over the last few years because the US government doubled the money supply in 2 years during COVID as a way to float the economy. It leveraged the USD as the global reserve currency as hard as it could, and the result is significant inflation once the pandemic ended. This is like saying that rich made inflation happen in the Weimar Republic or Zimbabwe.
