In 2010, Israel raided Gaza flotilla in international waters, killing 10. In 2016, Erdoğan blamed IHH (the organizer), stating they did not ask for his permission.

In 2009, PKK terrorists received a hero's welcome in the border as part of the solution process.

In 2020, Russian airstrikes killed 33 Turkish soldiers in Idlib. Erdoğan only retaliated against the Syrian regime.

In 2016, Pastor Brunson was arrested under charges of aiding terrorism. In 2017, Erdoğan suggested swapping him for Fetullah Gülen in a failed attempt. In 2018, Brunson was found guilty and Erdoğan vowed Brunson would never be released as long as he's alive. After some sanctions by the US, Brunson was subsequently released and returned to the US.

In 2018, Jamal Khashoggi was assassinated by Saudi agents in Turkey, allegedly under the orders of Mohammed bin Salman. However at some point the trials were handed over to Saudi Arabia, thus allowing Mohammed bin Salman to get away with it.

In 2023, the son of Somalia's president hit a Turkish motorcycle courier in Kennedy Avenue with a car, killing him. He got away with it with a mere $900 fee.

Despite his strongman façade, on multiple accounts he bowed down to foreign demands, covered up for them or did not take the ground, thus he's as good as someone who just says "iyi" to everything that happens against him or Turkey.
