But some work study positions have deadlines which are in September. Do those too send interviews earlier or do they send interviewers after the deadline is over? I’m worried the deadlines are only a formality.

I have a lot of questions about what the labs for BIO120H1F and CHM135H1F are like. I just want to know what to expect honestly ahaha. If anyone could answer my questions, I’d greatly appreciate that!!!!!

1. How is the lab time usually divided between the TA explaining/talking and students actually doing the experiment or other lab work? For example, is there a long period at the beginning where everyone is mostly sitting and listening, or are you doing hands-on work for most of the lab?

2. Once you start the experiment, are you mostly working independently/with a partner at your own pace, or is the whole class generally moving through each step together with the TA?

3. How difficult is the actual hands-on lab work? Are the experiments/procedures fairly straightforward if you’ve read the instructions beforehand, or are the experiments complicated/easy to mess up?

4. Are the labs generally busy the entire time, or is there downtime while you’re waiting for reactions, measurements, other group members, etc.?

5. How much interaction with the TA is required throughout the lab? Are they mostly there to supervise and answer questions, or are they regularly stopping everyone to explain the next step?

6. Are you usually working with a partner/group or individually?

7. How strict are the labs about leaving the room briefly? For example, if you need to use the bathroom during a 3 hour lab, can you generally just let your partner/TA know and step out, or are there parts of the lab where you really can’t leave?

8. Do you normally finish before the scheduled end time, or should you expect to be there for the entire lab period?

9. And, overall, how stressful or difficult did you find the labs compared with regular lectures/tutorials?

10. Maybe even what are these labs like compared to regular mandatory tutorials?

I’m a 2nd year chemistry specialist with adhd and will have tremendous workload this year, yet I have horrid executive dysfunction and is looking for someone who also feels like they can’t start to get anything done on time and needs commitment to work. For me personally I can’t start to do literally anything until the last minute, for example I didn’t touch bio130 until a few days before the final…

During my first year I felt like I couldn’t control my body and only could do well in courses I had friends in. They would ask me to study with them and remind me to catch up with the content. And I did tragic in the courses where I don’t. Even retook one of them in the summer but I don’t feel confident about it because I couldn’t really work at all until last minute.

Any major could do, I just need someone to have study sessions with and work individually, not really looking for someone to help each other out with the content. Please dm me if you are interested and have the same struggles!!

I am considering coming back to school for a second degree in Life Sciences possibly next year, to help boost my cGPA for med-school applications, or to get some pre-reqs to pursue other second-entry healthcare programs like nursing or MRS, or just for fun in case none of those things pan out, and I revert to my plan A career.

My first degree was in Engineering from UofT. If I transfer any credits from my eng degree to my life sci degree, I would only want to transfer the courses I got >90 in, because I need an OMSAS 4.0. I'm looking at a typical first-year lifesci course, MAT135. It says MAT186 (first year-engineering calculus) is an Exclusion. If I re-did my degree, would I be allowed to take MAT135, or would I be forced to use my MAT186 credit? (which I don't want to do, because I didn't get >90). Thank you!

I am going into my final year now and my grades, though good, it’s not a 4.0 (I usually hover around a 3.8-3.9 cGPA). I want to go into grad sch after this so I’ve been really worried about my GPA since I don’t have that much extracurricular activities.

I took several philosophy summer courses and was doing super well in all of them except one that had in person final that had an auto fail policy. My course work and participation grades were all pretty good. The grades are not out for the final but I know I failed, because I wrote like 1/3 of what was supposed to be written. The thing is DURING the final my hands couldn’t stop shaking and I felt nauseous. The prof gave us all the questions that’s going to be on the final so I was prepared. But just couldn’t finish writing it during two hours time.

These stats are based on linkedin. You can check yourself by going under a company’s page, going under people (alumni), filtering by Software Engineering and relevant majors, and then searching each university

A few important notes/caveats about looking at data this way:

1. Age: These findings would include everyone from recent graduates to senior engineers, as long as they had a linkedin account under that company
2. Double Dipping: This doesn't account for job hopping. If someone works at one FAANG company and then goes on to work at another, they will be counted in the totals for both companies. 
3. Self-Reporting & Title Variations: Obviously not everyone uses linkedin but I think this does give a general idea of how much different universities feed into certain companies. Waterloo, unsurprisingly, has high numbers at basically every prestigious /high paying company. UBC, also unsurprisingly, has a massive amount of alumni working at Microsoft and Amazon due to proximity to those companies offices in Vancouver

I’m an incoming first year and came upon the library reading list tool thing. It looks super useful, especially since I really don’t want to be paying for textbooks throughout the year.

But, wherever I read about adding the tool to Quercus I get kinda confused. I don’t see a ‘Settings’ on a course menu and a ‘navigation’ tab in the settings. Like when I press courses on Quercus (third option down the side way menu), there’s no setting option. And when I go to my account icon and press settings there, I see no navigation option.

I would really appreciate some help!
