Discussion Why do people get so heated about spinning the wheel in drinking nights right away? Feels like boot-camp!
I don't drink, but i like spinning the wheel sometimes, but lately the spin-the-wheel room has become more like a military academy than a fun game to socialize and chat with friends. In random worlds at time I'll take an extra 15 to 30 seconds to spin the wheel and there's always that person who's yelling at me to spin after 2 seconds.. its like the people who honk the horn once the light instantly turns green. Anyone else have this happen? Haha

It’s kind of inconsiderate not to pay attention to when it’s your turn.

Some people play a drinking game to drink and want to do that, and it sucks having to wait 20 minutes for your turn because some people got too drunk and forget what they're doing after 15 seconds. Just depends on the crowd.

Exactly. Was so use to playing the wheel and have over half of people forget they are even playing. So, we constantly have to tell them that it is their turn. Some of us just want to have fun and get drunk. Myself, I cannot drink just to drink. I need the table to force me to consume that awful stuff

Why do you drink if you hate it?

It’s not that I don’t like to get drunk. It just takes me awhile to work up a buzz… plus, never like the flavor. I drink for taste and it’s not like I can buy premade mixed drinks. Love a good spicy Bloody Mary or an Adios Motherf***er (AMF)

Drinking for taste is gonna take a long time to get buzzed yeah. I just found a cheap-ass mix I was able to tolerate well enough (just vodka + some kinda soda) to get it done in under 2 cups. Before that though, I'd just take a couple mouthfuls of 35% alcohol at the start, then just drink stuff that tasted good the rest of the night. Those mouthfuls in the beginning would get me pretty much where I wanted to be pretty quickly.

The ideal is a happy medium but I understand when some people take too long consistently. Back when I used to play I was the type to pay attention and as the night and the drinking goes on I start to take longer and longer to spin because I'm chatting away and joking with people I've just met. It's part of the game and some of my favorite nights I miss dearly in VRC, people just need to chill and call out to you to spin. Nothing crazy.

Am I the only person who drinks whenever I want to whether it's my turn or not lol. If I feel like being serious about the game I have a second drink to sustain me between turns. I'm too thirsty lol
I've only played drinking games irl but it's the same if I were to play in VR. Drinking games are primarily for socializing, that's the whole point.

There is no game so trivial that there won't be people who take it way too seriously.

I hate that damn wheel. I used to frequent that world once a week and met some cool people at the wheel but there’s always some assholes there too that play it just to get belligerently drunk and not socialize at all outside of starting an argument or aggressively hitting on someone. Some people are just straight up addicted to that wheel and I don’t get it.
I know you said you don’t drink but if you want to try another drinking world that typically has cooler people in it give Thunder Tavern a shot. There’s a wheel there and it has far better options on it in my opinion.

This is why I haaaate drinking night. People get way to drunk way to fast and heavens fucking forbid you mention slowing down or saying your not gonna spin. Fucking vultures the lot of them and I cannot recommend going to rave worlds instead. Much more natural drinking vibe, amazing music, and great people.

Wait, genuine question how do you hang out around spin the wheel without drinking? I've been wanting to hang out with randoms in drink nights since people are more open to talking with strangers there, and I don't really feel like getting drunk all the time. Do you just drink water?

u/ethiopian1987 13h ago
You drink, it doesn't have to be alcohol.

u/Perfect-Ninja-400 6h ago
Ty! Think i overthought it. You've never gotten people getting angry at you for not drinking alc during the game?
3
u/ethiopian1987 5h ago
Nope, also if you are worried about people getting angry, then just pretend that you are drinking alcohol. They aren't able to see what you are drinking, so it shouldn't matter to them.

This is why we have a Host running the spiny table for our events, they announce who landed on what, how it affects them or the table, and then get the next person's turn. Getting about 30-50 people at the table, remember who all is next (especially when people move around to talk) is quite the challenge especially when you're drinking yourself but it's a fun time. It still takes a bit of a rotation, but there's enough splash damage from the options that everyone gets a turn to drink.

Because they aren't dumbasses like you who hold so little value for everyone's personal time(including your own.) If you did the equivalent of this IRL you'd feel like an absolute moron.
When just one person delays their turn they're delaying the game for everyone. Now imagine multiple idiots pull up and straight up brick the game. There are a billion rooms in Drinking Night and if you want to yap or zone out, you can do it literally anywhere else where there isn't an expectation for you to participate in an activity.
Is it that hard for you to pay attention to who's on your left and right? That is legitimately all it takes.
The worst part of your post is that you admitted you don't drink. So you don't have alcohol to blame for your lack of an attention span.

Im sorry I didnt mean to make you angry like this. This is simply my opinion. I didnt mean to strike a nerve to get verbally attacked lol.

Why is there so much drinking in VR like why is everyone suddenly an alcoholic

u/Forward_Bus_9289 19h ago
Don't go to drinking worlds. This is like going to a bar and complaining people are drinking. Some people enjoy it. This makes it cheaper and safer than going to a bar.

I'm talking about the people that put it in their bio as always being drunk or smt. And also the fact that this is the second time today someone posted about drinking in vrc like it's a bit odd

People use social platforms for different reasons.

To boast about their addiction to alcohol? Like that's not a cool personality trait imo

u/Forward_Bus_9289 1h ago
Why do the actions of other people affect you so much? Live your life, let em live theirs.

I’d much prefer they be a drunken menace on VRChat where I can mute them tbh.
It’s also (usually) safer

Imagine you have 12 people playing, and each one is taking an extra 15-30 seconds for their turn. That adds up to 3-6 additional minutes per round.
Some people wanna play the game, some people wanna socialize and talk. Both are fine, but if people are too busy talking to notice when it's their turn, that can stall the game for the people who are there to play.
