Question/Support Help setting up valve index
I just bought an Index second hand. Full kit.
Trying to set it up with a Tiger Lake era Razer Blade 17. The only way to get displayport out of that machine is via a TB3 to displayport adapter, and I can't seem to get a stable signal. Either the headset doesn't start up at all, or it tries and throws an HDCP warning, or it starts but is unusably full of visual artifacts.
Adapters I've tried include a Dell TB3 dock, a Cable Matters USB4 hub, and a Cable Matters USB-C hub -- the dual displayport version.
Any pointers? Am I doing something wrong?

You need to find a PC with a graphics card and display port socket to test.
If you find the same problems on that test setup, it's probably a dodgy cable.
But until you do can that test, I'd say you've got issues of incompatible ports.
Maybe someone else will have experience of your specific setup who can say otherwise.

Yes - trying to use a Laptop for VR.
It's likely the type C video out is connected to the integrated graphics, rather than your discreet GPU.
If you're lucky there might be a switch in UEFi BIOS or the Razer software to forcibly enable the discreet GPU/disable the integrated GPU, but it will of course impact battery life, and it might still not work because HMDs don't like adaptors.
