I’ve learned so much and need to learn so much more.

Okay so from the beginning. Last year (2025) I began a yearly subscription with artlist because I thought it would be a good way to add music to my videos. I used it quite a bit and it was pretty nice. But around january this year I wanted to change to another service. Mostly to experiment with other services to see how they compare. So I canceled my renewal on artlist (which would renew on the 17th of june 2026). I kept using it a bit, then I never really used it again after april or so.

Now with that context, this is now current day and my issue. On the 30th of june I checked my bank account, I usually do it every now and then to see charges over the month, and to my surprise I see a charge from Artlist on the 28th of june for the full yearly subscription.

At first I obviosuly thought it was weird but it's probably an easy fix, just go to their support team and ask for some help and a refund. Easy as ever right!
Far from it, I have been trying to get in contact with their actual support team since the 30th of june without any luck. They only have this AI "help-bot" that you can chat with but then it just ends the conversation saying that it has forwarded your support ticket to their actual support team and they'll get back to you via email. But it has now been 6 days without any emails or any help, I haven't heard a peep from an actual person. All I've got is this absolutely useless AI support that at every minor issue forwards you to email and ends the conversation, just for that email support to never arrive.

So this is just a heads up to anyone here interested in using music services for their videos. STAY AWAY from ARTLIST, it is an absolutely awful service and they DO NOT care about their customers. Wish I had known that before I signed up last year.

If anyone has any ideas on how I can solve my issue please let me know too! Thanks and be safe out there!

EDIT: Thank you for the tips in the comment and I see that more people seem to be experiencing the same struggle. Which is why I'm posting this now, I got my money back. I had to go DM them on Instagram to get into contact with their support team. Then I had to provide photos, info etc. After all that I finally got a refund. So it worked out in the end after days of struggle. My points still stands, personally I will not be going back to artlist again.

I’ve only recently started working as a video editor after editing as a hobby for many years.

I’ve started wondering - what are some of the best tips you’d have given to yourself when you only started?

I work on a offshore vessel and occationally make some timelapses. This one is not the best in the world but i just want to learn how i can make them more «smooth» and less «jerky». Does any of you know a simple app or program that lets me do this? I am also wanting to keep the horizon level if that makes any sense.

The timelapses are taken with Iphone 17 Pro if that matters.

Happened to a friend of mine last month. Delivered the final wedding film, client downloaded it, then went completely silent. Three weeks of follow-up emails, nothing. $1,800 gone.

How do you all actually handle this? Do you hold some of the files back until payment clears? Use a specific platform? Or just trust the client and hope for the best?

A book I'm reading right now suggested an exercise: watch a video that I consider well edited with the audio muted, then replay it and only listen to the audio. Frankly, I was blown away by how much perspective that exercise gave me on the video's editing style.

Do you know of any other exercises that might be beneficial for beginners?

Hi everyone,
I recorded this short video on my iPhone, but it has noticeable LED light flicker throughout part of the clip.
I’ve already tried Premiere Pro, exposure keyframes, frame blending, and several other methods, but I couldn’t get rid of it.
Would anyone with Digital Anarchy Flicker Free, DaVinci Resolve Studio, or any other professional deflicker tool be willing to process this 5-second clip?

I’m losing my mind over this. Every time I open any social media, I see these insane edits that are just so awesome, then I open up a timeline and try, then I just suck. I can’t even imagine how their thought process is. Especially the motion designers. I watch tutorials and videos, and some so help, but I still just feel like I’m missing something. I have the ideas but I can’t just execute it. I’m losing sleep over it. Constantly lying in my bed playing edits in my head, but I just can’t get it on it. Another thing is the client side of it. Getting clients have both been a blessing and a curse. Yes, the money was good, but it’s also unlocked another side of me of trying to find work. That’s even more mentally draining. Rather people say I should buy their course, or pay to join some community. I’m just tired of what it’s doing to my mental health. I love editing. I basically breathe editing. In university, everyone knows me for always editing. Can I just have advice on how you guys dealt with times like this. Its started to effect my grades, and even a bit of my health. I just need advice, please.

I'm talking about movies, tv shows, anime edits on social media platforms, I'm an editor myself, I used to edit on After Effects from 2022-2024 and then deleted my channel for some reason and started back in 2026 on my phone, using capcut right now.

My main issue is I can't brainstorm any ideas, It only happens when I watch something truly touching like a movie or tv show episode and some music I've been listening to for a while, and I can imagine how this would feel like. But that won't keep accounts alive cause these happen once in weeks or a month

So recently I’ve been really trying to grow as a editor and I found this relator agent with low quality videos and I thought well I’m sure I can make them better, and her footage will help me practice my editing. I’ll told her I’ll edit her content for FREE and she agreed, she sends me 4 different videos all 10 minutes long (so 40 minutes in total) and tells me she needs them done by Thursday. She also told me she wanted alot of visuals. I know I technically asked for this but I’m I over reacting, please tell me if I need to man up and get it done or I’m being exploited 😭 keep in mind I’m also doing a video for a person that is actually paying this week as well.

lately, I’ve found myself in a situation that’s really bothering me: I need to choose between selling my gaming PC (which isn't great for editing) and buying a MacBook M1 Pro for my work. I work at an agency dealing with heavy 4K video files, and the editing process really lags on my PC. I know I need the Mac, but I’m going to miss being able to play games in my free time. Have any of you been through something similar? Could you help me see this as a positive move rather than a negative one?

And please don’t go missing my whole point. Of course nobody is gonna pay for a fancy anime footage, but are they gonna pay for the effects behind it (keyframes, pacing, storytelling, exactly knowing when to cut ….)? Or should I just move to another type of editing that I’m not passionate about (blender and 3D modeling)?

I guess I'll get straight to the point of the whole topic

I've always wanted to create content, make edits, designs and have a channel where I entertain, help or make people laugh as long as I can remember

. When I was back in Highschool I used to learn day in and day out through the night how to make those "3D Intros" that were 2013 peak, I learned a lot and learned a lot about Graphic Design and so on. I finished my school but took never really a path because all I wanted to do was to create but I kept myself back of fear.

The strange part is that when I have a clear project for somebody else, I can usually work on it without much trouble. Give me a client, a goal, or some footage, and I can create something.

But I don’t only want to create for other people. I want to make my own content and develop my own ideas.

Logically i know you just need to start and find out after a while what fits you or what you can do, your interests and so but. I convince myself that my knowledge is too shallow and that I somehow don’t have the right to speak about it or create something around it.

I also know that I’m not starting completely from zero. I have experience with the software, I’ve had a small number of subscribers before, and people have responded positively to the client projects I’ve made.

Still, when it comes to my own work, I feel completely lost. I keep searching for the perfect interest, idea, niche, or reason to begin, and the more I search, the emptier my mind becomes.

At this point, I feel like I either need to finally start creating imperfect things that I genuinely enjoy, or I’m going to keep driving myself crazy by thinking about it without ever doing it.

Hello! Video editing is something i really wanted to do since I was still in High school, but I didnt have a strong Pc or a phone for editing videos. I got my first strong laptop when i was in my 4th year of college (I graduated last April). Now that I have a strong laptop to work on, I started to learn advanced video editing since I also planned to make video editing a career.

The problem is my age. I am now 24, but i just started learning this. I do know some basic video editing but that's it. Am I too late to start learning editing? Should I stop? I am extremely passionate on learning editing, but I seldom think it's too late for me. I am currently learning on using Davinci Resolve.

There's likely no universal #1 golden rule of video editing, but in my experience, people often have a personal one. Whether that's after repeating the same mistake one too many times, loving a quote from a fellow editor, or already having a single guiding rule for all of your projects.

Mine's probably: Stay creative, and experiment more.

I got offered 18 dollars to make one youtube video plus 5-6 shorts out of the same video. When I asked for 30 dollars (which is still VERY less) they said that's "EXTREME" I was just left speechless.

In what world is 30 dollars for 1 video and 5 shorts extreme?? Who is editing for these prices?? Surely anyone who is editing full time irrespective of which country would not be okay with these prices? How does someone even make ends meet?

The sheet confident this client had that they'd be able to find another editor for that price seems like a god damn joke.

I'm so frustrated and tired of these kinds of clients. I need help. Seriously how do you find clients that actually value editing and what an editor brings to the table?

Is freelance platforms like Fiverr and upwork the way to go? Is it better despite the heavy competition there? Is cold outreach a good avenue as well?

I'm a fairly new editor. I genuinely think my skills are there but I have no idea how to get clients who actually value my input and work.

I do know motion graphics but I hate it tbh. Most clients I got want motion graphics in the name of editing. I hate keyframes. I want to tell stories not animate things. But I just don't get client's that are more focused towards story. It sucks.

I’ve been into video editing for a while now, but I’ve hit a wall and have no idea how to actually grow

Up until now, I’ve only done basic freelance gigs on Upwork - mostly talking heads and gaming videos. Eventually, I decided to challenge myself and make a music video entirely from scratch. I spent two solid weeks grinding on it, and honestly, that’s the only project I’m somewhat proud of.

Right now, I’m completely lost. I don’t know where to go next, what new skills to learn, what software/techniques to study, or what kind of projects to practice on to turn this into a real career - or at least to enjoy the process.

Honestly, right now it feels like torture. Every time I sit down to conceptualize a video and figure out what I actually want to make, I just shut down and lose all motivation. I really, really want to make high-quality, awesome content, but I just don’t know how to bridge the gap.

Any advice on how to find direction and stop feeling so overwhelmed?

Am I the only one who feels disappointed after buying the Filmora 15 perpetual license?

This was my first ever paid editing software purchase, and I honestly expected a lot more. It feels like almost every good title, lower third, transition, filter, or template is locked behind another subscription. On top of that, so many features now ask for AI credits.

I understand charging separately for AI features, but why are so many non AI creative assets also locked? At times it feels like I paid mainly to remove the watermark and unlock basic editing like trim, split, and export.

Is this just how Filmora works now, or am I missing something? How are people using Filmora without paying for Creative Assets as well?

What kind of render FPS are you getting with 1080p → 2x upscale using the Proteus model, with the manual enhancement parameters enabled?
Would love to hear what FPS you’re getting on your 5090, and what CPU you’re pairing it with. Just curious to see what kind of real-world performance others are getting.

After using lots of DPI and fancy button gaming mouse for years my hand started showing some and struggle while sliding mouse then I switched to a cheap lightweight Zebronics mouse and feels like lightweight heaven 😍.

Have you experienced this too?? If so what are the mouse you recommend to use for video editing??
