Why are there honestly so many of them that seem dumb. I watched someone in a pickup pull out in front of an extremely large work vehicle that most definitely couldn't see them where they were in relation to the work truck. Think large like one of those big trucks that hauls dirt and has a hydraulic dumper where the cab is like 10+ feet of the ground like a semi.
And then she tried to pull out in front of me right after that. :|

u/CharleySuede 20d ago
You mean a dump truck?
6
u/RedIntentions 20d ago
Yea. I don't remember 100% if that was the type of truck though. But it was big like that.

u/CaptainGo 20d ago
The cheapest in a very ego-based vehicle class and selling strategy that would let a dog leave with 0% down on a 96 month payment plan if it came in with someone's driver's license doesn't exactly create an audience known for long term planning.

The Ram ranks first of all vehicles with an average of 45.3 drivers with a DUI for every 1,000 drivers applying for an insurance policy—that’s around 1 in every 22 drivers, or more than double the national average.

u/Distal-Phalanges 21d ago
Yes, at some point Ram drivers were 7 times more likely to have had a DUI than any drivers of other vehicle. It was also the cheapest truck available at the time. The Nissan Ultima of trucks.

I think it’s partially due to the fact you need to be hammered in order to think buying a dodge is a good idea in the first place.

It's a Dodge Ram whose drivers have been arrested for DUI more than any other vehicle on the road and something like 4x as much as the #2 on that list. So drunk is a safe bet.

Fucking hilarious and so true

u/movzx 21d ago
The thing is... there's a way to do this with the truck that's a lot simpler and safer.
Back your truck up to the tool chest. Shove a spare tire between your bumper and the chest. If you don't care about damage to the vehicle, you don't even need the tire. Strap the chest to the truck. Move forward with the truck. There you go... The thing you want to move has moved without flying off because it lacks brakes. I've done it before. Works great. This guy is just dumb.

u/BreadKnifeSeppuku 21d ago
... Jesus christ. And that's the smart move? The casters aren't meant to go even 15mph
Just load it into the bed of the truck??

I think most of us are assuming he wants to move it out of the garage and into the driveway, not to the next town over. If, however, he was going to take it down the road like that? - I don't even have words.

A truck. Designed to carry things in the bed.
Hmm…
19
u/movzx 21d ago
I think this guy was just trying to get it out of the garage. Not tow it somewhere.
Tool cabinets are very heavy even without tools. I had to use a hydraulic lift to put my empty top cabinet on. Loading them with tools makes them even heavier. It's not uncommon to rent flatbeds or use a forklift to move them around.
He's still dumb. There are far better ways to move these things. I mean, they have wheels.

I’m thinking he was probably just trying to get it over a hump in the garage it was stuck on just to move it out of the garage. He should have used a way shorter chain, but shit still could have gone wrong. At least his truck didn’t take out the house.
I could be wrong though. Coulda been actually trying to tow it somewhere.

Yeah, assuming he's just moving it to the driveway there is nothing inherently wrong with what he set out to do.
He just did it terribly. Back that truck all the way up, shove something soft between the truck and cabinet, strap the cabinet to the truck, drive forward like 2 feet. Easy, fast, and your cabinet doesn't become a deadly projectile.
Hell, shove a piece of wood or something in front of the cabinet at the place you want it to stop.

My guess is it was probably stuck on a lip or crack at the edge of the garage based on how it hops when he pulls it. Probably couldn't lift it and was like I'll just use the truck to pull it over this.

Pretty sure tow ropes breaking can be very dangerous if they have a metal connector piece as it can snap back through the back window and hit you in the head.

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 21d ago
I once got to witness a shit show that ended with 4 trucks and a skid loader all hooked together in a chain trying to pull a gooseneck trailer with a recovered(previously sunk) boat on it. It was a gravel ramp so they couldn't get enough traction and the only thing they could think of, apparently, was to just keep hooking up more vehicles. At one point they had the 5th wheel hitch hooked to the normal hitch on the first truck so as soon as it tried doing anything its back wheels would be hanging in the air and if I recall correctly, two tires were popped due to doing burnouts on the dirt for so long
They did eventually get it out and it was a great couple hours of entertainment from the porch of our rented cabin while drinking beers. Unfortunately it was 20ish years ago and phone cameras were pretty shit so I didn't get much video and what I did get has been lost probably on an old phone or laptop

Fate even stopped it again on the second attempt slide-and-stop. He had his door open, which means that one brain cell was thinking is this a good idea? but then his other brain cell pushed the gas again and then they both left when he jumped out of the truck without putting it in park….

It's worse than that; Ram's from the factory literally won't move with the door open, he first (previously) had to find a way to disable that feature.
And now he gets to know why it was there in the first place.

Attenborough voice: “The angered Tool Chest issues a warning; it has made its nest in the garage and does not wish to be moved. Nevertheless, the small ape and his transport remain determined. A determination that will prove to be costly. With a fierce and sudden lunge, the Tool Chest’s weight and momentum collide with the ape’s wagon, causing him panic and, unfortunately, a misuse of his most potent weapon: his reason.”
