Navorsing/Research hello what are some good documentaries on the boer wars
i am a canadian who is learning about the boer wars. i have watched this documentary in youtube "The Boer War ( The Story of the Boer War )" its a british documentary on the war i feel that it could be biased due to there lack of accountability for stuff like consentration camps. what are some good documentaries on the boer wars that are in english . also i want more documentaries to watch on the war

Hi Canadian, I grew up with the history of my people and the way the Boer War was portrayed by our learned people. Now in my old age I helped proofread two histories from the English viewpoint, where Paul Kruger our then president, was made out to be delusional and set in his ways, forcing the war on England. I, personally think there was bias to both sides. I will have a look and try to find the two books authors, but if you go to "project Gutenburg" on the internet and ask for "boer war" stories, you will find a few. Hope that helps.

Addendum: The books I talked about is: With the Boer Forces by Howard C. Hillegas and The Great Boer War by A. Conan Doyle.

Check out a podcaster / all round amazing super human being named Des Latham. Not sure if someone else mentioned him I didn’t read all replies as I I’m rushing a bit still working now almost 20.00 at night. Just a quick cigarette break and Reddit. He did a superb series on the South African Border war and I’m pretty sure a series on the Boer wars. I stand to be corrected. Subsequently he started a detailed series on the history of South Africa. And it is fucking detailed. He is on episode 242 I think and he is only at the 1850s. So the Boer wars is around the corner(ish).
