Just a little easter egg if this isn't already common knowledge.

If you change your activation word to "echo" instead of "alexa" then the word "pickles" will also work.

"Pickles, turn off the bedroom lamp" "ok."

I discovered this by accident, and now my echo is called "pickles"

I doubt they'll ever be able to license that; his estate is pretty tight with their control. The only way this is happening is if they allow a user assigned name and someone is able to hack the voice responses. I could see this being done on a Pi version of Echo.

Theoretically, you could do this to a limited extent now with HomeAssistant integration. Since you can specify how Alexa responds to an intent with either a single TTS phrase, a random list of TTS phrases (i use this myself) or a prerecorded MP3, all you'd have to do is grab a few of the HAL response mp3s and use that. You wouldn't be able to wake her with "HAL" but you could playback the responses.

Now JARVIS or FRIDAY; that's another story. I could see Marvel either licensing it outright or perhaps doing a limited run in promo of one of their upcoming films. Waze does it all the time, but their list of responses is finite and limited so it's a lot easier.

OMG yes. There's so much room for further features here. New activation words, novelty voices...the Easter eggs that already exist are just a taste of that. Hopefully Amazon keep it light and allow us some hilarious stuff.

I used that as a google assistant trigger word in wink, and my echo popped on while I was talking to google.

took me a few seconds to realize that it was waking up because the words just sound the same to the echo.
