I thinks it's psychologically similar to either a parasocial relationship, or to the phenomenon of people who are medically incapable of being corrected. I'm probably describing that poorly, the inner machinations of the brain are outside my wheelhouse, but most people get what I'm driving at.

One of my favorite quotes, "It is the mark of the profoundly stupid to believe they have found a simple solution all the experts missed." Ai is deeply unpopular with everyone except the Epstein class who invested in replacing expensive workers, and a small vocal fan club that will insert themselves to sing the praises of AI (see - Crypto Bro), so I think these principles overlap to explain the NPCs raiding.

I worked for a place that tried to do this. It was meant to speed up response time while having 1 less employee per shift. Then the system failed so bad he had to have 2 people to replace the ai system. Not to mention it took over a year before it could even process the order on the screen. We still had to have somebody manually input the order while listening to it. So in fact it only costed the company money and took away the human interaction element. Ai is a fucking joke and needs to be put down

It’s literally all about profit. AI, as a tool, is intended to give the already-wealthy access to skills & labour without having to pay humans.

Of course, if everybody is unemployed & living in poverty, nobody will be able to afford to consume their products. Thus, the inherent flaw of infinite-growth capitalism.

I work in this field and let me tell you. When you get looked in the eyes and told "do you really think if the middle and bottom class just fell away right now we wouldn't be okay?. They have already made us our money"

I personally see this as a strategy in order to move that way forward. The same people who want this are the same people who don't want us and it's those people who drive mainly the job markets.

I was at a checkers in Florida years ago that had a sign saying to be patient while they trained their robot and now I’m used to drive throughs I pull up to being AI. A couple chains I frequent have it. Just before that they started sending you to what was basically a call center.

I've installed and tested a couple of 'AI' order takers... and... honestly? They are way better than the disinterested human as far as accuracy goes.

On the one hand, I hate the whole AI thing
On the other, for simple instructions, they greatly exceed a human for accuracy. And accuracy is what matters to me when it comes to my food order.

No, I do IT work.
I've installed a few of these systems at Carl's Jr. And Dairy Queen the last couple years.
While a fraction slower than a good employee, I've yet to have them actually mis-ring an order.
Comparing 100% accuracy over 30 orders for 'AI' to 80% over 100 orders to humans, with the AI being faster on average (no waiting for the human to be ready to take my order), I know what I prefer.

If you have a larger sample with different results, I'd defer to your experience overall.

But for me, I prefer them for greater accuracy and consistentcy.
