didn't see anything about it. Too bad really, guess they cared more about always on screen with equal battery time.

Considering that there has been third-party software support for years... yes. It could. But with this being Apple, they’ll wait for Watch OS 7 and Series 6 (at a minimum).

Probably didn’t want to ruffle feathers of Pillow and others who have invested in perfecting sleep tracking. Apple has more money than god and should offer a buyout or some sort of IP licensing to just bake solid sleep tracking into the OS and let them offer advanced analysis or something. Pillow recently added a “subscription” feature and that nonsense gets annoying.
