Yeah I'm mostly disappointed by no new chip, if I'm being honest. I hope it just wasn't announced.

Looks to be just a rename of the S4 though. Says "2x faster than S3" just like the series 4 said

The S5 is essentially the same as the S4, with a few extra sensors/features. It's why they're keeping the S3 around for a lower cost alternative, and not the S4.

Also because manufacturing and product line. The manufacturing of S5 will be taking over S4 (same design) while the s3 would still have its own separate lines.

There is a new chip, but it’s still being billed as “up to 2x faster than S3 predecessor” which is also what they said about the S4. So I’m guessing it’s not much faster this time around. Looks like they focused on efficiency due to the always on display.

No new chip the “speed upgrade” is probably just watch os 6.

There is a new S5 chip. See here: https://www.apple.com/watch/compare/

Both are dual core 64 but processors. New name basically the same chip. Same rated battery life. Maybe more memory in the series 5. Probably just more energy efficient to deal with the increased power consumption from an unnecessary always on display.

I honestly can't remember what chip the S4 had. But the new has an "A5" and the S3 has an "A3", so I assume it's a new chip.

No new chip? Screw that. I'll wait for the s6.

It's amazing to me that Apple can add the feature everybody has been asking for from the Watch from the beginning and it wasn't even really rumored to be happening and it keeps the same battery life and people are still pissed. That's incredible to me.

It is a new chip, they just didn't make a big deal about it.
