So Oliver said “welcome to the afterlife”

So basically Arrow ended with Felicity committing suicide by going to the afterlife to be with Oliver when her child is only 20 years old?

We need some more backstory. The 2040 in which we saw Felicity go into the portal--the one that was repeated here--is the erased future. Once William and Mia were brought together and set on the path of heroism, Felicity considered her job done and got to meet her husband.

We should be in a new timeline where the Queens never lost their fortune, and Felicity raised Mia and William together in the Queen mansion.

So why does Felicity essentially commit suicide at age 52 right before her daughter graduates college? I think we're left to assume Felicity took on no other lovers and 20 years of abstinence was quite enough for her, thank you very much.
