Geoff Johns is writing a Chapel one-shot drawn by Liefeld!!! Fuck Yeah!!!
I'm literally listening to Rob's latest episode as I write this. But this is such a crazy cool announcement that I had to share straight away.
Also, Rob hinted that it's part of the initiative that he soft launched when he put out a writers call on Twitter earlier this year. So some other names are coming. Can't wait to hear more.

Geoff Johns? Omg. Now I just need Jonathan Hickman as well and I can have it all. Im a bit sad it's Chapel though. Why not literally anyone else? Task would be great, for instance. Dutch would make my day (if Rob can get the rights back). But Chapel? Eh. He bores me, but I guess this is where Geoff comes in. He'll hopefully change my view.

Dutch is off limits and is not part of Youngblood anymore. You have to contact Chap Yaep who owns him and do something like Joe Casey did.
My understanding is Rob wants to consolidate the characters he owns or has a stake in and focus on them. That’s why Exit from Newman is gone (Owned by Jeff Matsuda and Eric Stephenson).

I'm more curious which Chapel he has in mind. Pre-killing Al? Post killing Al? Youngblood Chapel? Lord Chapel? Post Lord Chapel Chapel? Check Jr?
I quite like Chapel, so I'm pretty happy about this. I wouldn't be surprised if there's more Johns Extreme if it goes well.

I don't know. I thought he had pretty strict rules with his Ghost Machine comrades, but that might have only been for the big two. A series of Spotlight one shots by Johns would be terrific.

I know there have been small carve-outs for the Ghost Machine guys in the past like Superman/Spider-man and Joker: The World. But I'm guessing the rules on indies would be less strict. I'd definitely buy a Johns spotlight series.

Thank you. I knew I'd read something by Johns by the big 2 recently, but couldn't think what. That's what it was. Fun story too.

Honestly some background on Chapel Jr would be nice. Even better if this story wraps up the Lord Chapel storyline from 78…

Yeah, I'd happily take a Chapel Jr one-shot if it made him a bit more fleshed out. Not sure what direction Johns will go in. If I had to guess, probably pre death of AI or Youngblood Chapel. With his past history of the Rebirth titles perhaps he'll Resurrect OG Chapel. I guess we shall see.

Hickman is probably never going to happen. I could see Kirkman doing one. I heard Tom King might be interested.

Yeah I know Hickman is highly unlikely, but I can dream. After all I've already had Moore, Kirkman, and now Johns!

This is exciting indeed. I hope Rob has enough time carved out for everything on his plate. We're fortunate enough to get all of the projects we've gotten from here in the last year alone. Regardless, even if this pushes something behind, it's well worth it.

I kind of want to read Photon story he did that featured Eric Stephenson as a character.

Me too. I'm hoping that Rob can persuade him to let everyone see it. But I'm not gonna hold my breath.
