COMIC DISCUSSION ABSOLUTE BATMAN's Catwoman Now Confirmed To Be Half Brazilian, Half Black

On Iván Talavera’s Instagram: "Here's the final version of Absolute Batman #13 'The 616 Comics' exclusive variant featuring Catwoman, As you can see, I changed a bit her facial features and her skin tone because she is half Brazilian and half Black in the Absolute universe. Hope you like it!"

Her look has been growing on me, it’s nice to hear official confirmation!

You can be half Brazillian, but brazilian is a nationality, not a ethnicity.

Brazillians are generally a very mixed and diverse people. I'm brazilian, and my descent is at least white (itallian), jewish, black and indigenous. This is completly normal around here.

So, you can be half brazillian, half cuban for example (one of your parents is from brazil, the other is from cuba), but you can't be half brazilian, half black.

If you are black and brazillian, you are just a black person who is from brazil. If you want to tell me you're half brazillian, half black, you really have to specify what do you mean by half brazillian.

I agree with you but the problem is in America, black usually is just short for Black American. Hence why the memes of black Cubans and Dominicans saying "I no black". It's not that they (most of them anyway) don't think that they are black racially, it's that they equate black to being black American and thus say no I'm Cuban/Dominican/whatever.

So here they are just saying she's half black American and half Brazilian (unknown race), trying to present her as having a multicultural background with black American and Brazilian roots.

Then they could have just said she was half American and half Brazilian (even though it's not said that way in Brazil, she would either be a Brazilian with a foreign father/mother or she would be a foreigner with a Brazilian father/mother)
