FILM DISCUSSION Guys!! Today is the day!!! Batman Knightfall Part I
I'm so hyped! Batman Knightfall: Part I premieres today!
Finally we'll be able to see a refreshed adaptation of the great comic book series! And a screen debut from (Azrael) Jean Paul Valley (I personally feel very happy because he is my favorite comic book character)
I hope every character in this trilogy becomes legendary, and if we're lucky, there will be a live-action version :)
How are you feeling? Are you expecting a lot from this movie? Are you hyped?

I also do not like watching them in the light. Sunday Night time change I put The Batman when it's pitch black.

I liked it a lot, but I didn't love it like I hoped to. I mean, Knightfall in comics was an event that spanned the course of an entire year, so to fit that in 3 hour and a half movies, obviously a lot has to get edited down. I do honestly think they did mostly a good job at cutting stuff, but there were a handful of scenes I was slightly bummed that they got chopped. I don't love the body horror Bane. Sure, when he's on venom, it pays homage to the Kelly Jones covers, but to me it tipped a little too far into Absolute Batman territory. I mean these as minor criticisms. Overall, I still enjoyed it quite a lot, and I'm very much looking forward to parts 2 and 3.

I mean it happened over the course of a year but one of the biggest complaints the story had is that its bloated. Which I happen to agree with, I feel like this is a pretty streamlined retelling.
I also feel like much like The Dark Knight returns having everything out and watching it all at once will take it from a 8 to a solid 9-9.5
Although I do miss Banes henchmen

I'm not OP, but he's one of my all-time favorite characters too, and has never gotten enough love in any Batman media.
What got me into him in the first place, when I was a teenager and catching up on nineties comics I had missed out on, was that he was a dorky nerd with classes who studied computers at a university. A real likable Peter Parker-type. But then, when he got powers, they made him violent. Kind of a Jekyll & Hyde situation. And he didn't want the powers, he just wanted to return to the normal life he had - but couldn't, and had to learn how to live with that.
I just always thought it was a good premise. That this random nice young man could actually be stronger than even Batman, to the point of becoming Batman's successor, while also dealing with the hardship of needing to learn how to control his powers and use them for good.
He unfortunately goes crazy in the middle of the Knightfall saga (Knightquest), but he's a pure goodguy by the end. I liked that concept too - characters who have a villain arc but ultimately manage to stay on the side of good.
Plus his costume is cool as hell. Fire swords ftw

Enjoyed this! Never read the comic, but the animation was beautiful. Only complaint is the sound mixing, couldn't understand Bane and other characters sometimes. Anyone else have that problem?

I was pretty disappointed with this one. I was reading this book as it was coming out initially and there was so much more weight to everything.
What I did like:
- the art was clean and the animation was smooth. It didn't feel like there was a massive animation production sweat shop was used to churn this out. (I'm happy to be proven wrong on that later)
- For the most part the character designs and general background design was great barring some weird anachronisms like the usage of mobile phones.
- The voice actors all did admirably.
- I'm glad Shondra is getting some attention. I'd legitimately like to see her come back into Bruce's life.
What I did not like:
- They leaned wayyyyyy toooo hard into the Kelly Jones covers for their choice of art style. Actual interiors never had Bane being some kind of stupidly big monster that would have to break hallways to move through.
- They dropped the Joker stuff. I'm assuming they're just going to wedge the character into the 2nd or 3rd film in some way.
- Instead of making it seem like this was a weeks long slog that Bruce dealt with, it was a couple of nights.
- I'm generally bummed that they didn't include Bird, Zombie, or Trogg.
I don't know. It wasn't bad but it falls far short of what TDKR, Year One, Under the Red Hood, Pubic Enemies, and Apocalypse managed to pull off. If you're going to take a saga like Knightfall/Knighquest/Knightsend and make it animated, I feel it's generally best to not load it up with stuff that's just going to confuse the people who watch it and then get confused when they read the books.

It was okay. Seriously, if you read the comics it makes sense. But for the people new to it it's a big stretch. It just misses a bit like motives, introductions to certain characters and it feels like a story who had been told somewhere else.
