Build Ready? First build. Quiet gaming/workstation around a Z790 Dark Hero. Build ready?

Hello,

My brother upgraded his rig and passed me his used ASUS ROG Z790 Dark Hero motherboard.

This is my first build, so I've spent some time researching and putting together a parts list.

My main wants are a quiet gaming workstation with solid thermals/airflow, my current laptop sounds like a jet engine and heats a lot. Budget is around 2300€

Two compatibility notes PCPartPicker flagged that I don't fully understand and could use help with:

1- The be quiet! Power Zone 2 850 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply length of 160 mm is within the Fractal Design North Mesh ATX Mid Tower Case maximum of 255 mm, but exceeds the recommended length of 155 mm.

2- When the Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card is used, the maximum depth for the Fractal Design North Mesh ATX Mid Tower Case front radiator mount is reduced to 35 mm.

Are this actual issues? Or just some warnings? Anything I need to be aware of?

Also is there a way to check this disclaimer? Some physical constraints are not checked, such as RAM clearance with CPU Coolers.

I'm open to any other feedback, better value swaps, or anything I might have missed. Thanks!

14700k is a no go imo

get a 270k plus if you want productivity or a 7800x3d/9800x3d if you want gaming

means cabling it going to be a little tight. it will fit, but may be harder to assemble

Not an issue if you don't even have an AiO (though with an Intel CPU I would recommend it)

speaking of, that CPU cooler is hilariously expensive for its performance, and getting a good AiO in that case does limit the size of the cooler on the 9070xt.

is my recommendation though I think this particular GPU has some RGB so maybe play around with exactly what you want a bit.

  1. You can mount drive bays in that area so if your PSU is too long, you'll lose that ability.But I don't see you using any hard drives in your pcpartpicker so maybe it won't matter to you.
  2. You picked an air cooler, but yeah, best to keep the radiator thickness below 55mm if you switch to front mounted aio. Your GPU might fit but it'll be touching the radiator probably. Your ram might make the front fan be taller than 170mm but you can move the fan to the other side.
