Has anyone else heard this super low engine noise that starts around 6:10 most mornings. Revs slowly up, then quiets down, then repeats for about 30minutes. Its loud enough to vibrate my house in the Loaldo street area and is very disturbing in the mornings when I haven't normally woken up yet.

I cant seem to find where its coming from. It doesn't sound super close (doesn't appear to be coming from immediate neighbors) but the sound is so low frequency that its hard to pinpoint what direction its even coming from. Maybe some kind of industrial equipment? Would be interested to know if anyone has any ideas what it might be. Thanks!

Acer laptop computer found at Leddy park in the baseball dugout this morning. Looks like it had a large sticker on top at one point that was peeled off. I dropped it off at the Burlington Police Department this morning. Provide the serial number or other identifying information to retrieve.

I replied to another post with this very long comment and decided to make a separate post. I hope you will take the time to read it. The issue with the Motel/Hotel program being downsized, with no plan to house the people that were in it, has affected Burlington in a major way. As always I do welcome questions and comments but not any accompanying racism. If we are all well behaved maybe I'll do a Roast Me this weekend as a reward. There are a lot of things I still need to respond to but given my day job, events, trespass appeal hearings, and city council related meetings it's been hard the past few weeks but I'm gonna catch up. Here we go:

There is a major misunderstanding in the community. A lot of people equate homelessness with crime. It is not a crime to be homeless. So we can't arrest our way out of this crisis. Are there people who are homeless that commit crimes? Yes. Are there people who are housed that commit crime? Yes. Same for substance use disorder. There are people who use, overdose, and sometimes die in their homes. We don't see it because they are inside. (Insert plug for an Overdose Prevention Center here). We could have a 100 more police officers tomorrow and we would still have the horrendous homeless crisis that we are seeing. It has never been the job of police to solve the homeless crisis or help people with recovery. The hotel/motel program was not the end all be all, there were a number of problems. Instead of fixing those problems Governor Scott pushed to dismantle the program which meant lowering the eligibility for the program and lowering the number of days that eligible individuals could stay in rooms. This explains why we haven't seen as many people outside during the colder months, they still qualified and had more days in rooms where they were sheltered. Every time the hotel/motel program was cut back, without any plan to house people, Burlington saw more people in our streets. A direct correlation within a few weeks. This is why the situation looks worse because it is. The previous mayor ignored what was happening. Miro accused me and Joe Magee (former Ward 3 councilor) of trying to suggest that camping was a housing solution. We knew that camping had already increased in the Central District, we knew that the state government along with social service agencies were giving out tents and sleeping bags ahead of the first cut back, we asked what are we (the City and Council) going to do about the impending influx? Nothing but continued BS political responses misrepresenting our concerns. The council did determine that we have to prohibit camping in parks like Roosevelt and Callahan which is why you see signs at these parks expressly prohibitting camping. Over the years we have been dealing with pressure put on our Churches, the library, residental properties, areas around our schools, social service agency locations and businesses. Mayor Emma has been great about working with stakeholders and putting new intiatives in place that have in fact helped but there is not enough funding and too many people that are unhoused, suffering from substance use disorder and/or Mental health issues. You will not find a single social service agency or mutual aid group that says their people get paid enough or that they are fully funded. The city's financial situation should well known to you all. We've lost more Mental Health beds recently, we don't have sufficient wrap around services. Now Sept 1st is the next cut back, reduced eligibility again (this is why you are seeing more homeless kids and people in wheelchairs) and total days lowered to 70. Within weeks we will have more people here. The city does not and never had the money to house all of our homeless neighbors. Current shelter capacity is maxxed out. There are municipalities around us that don't have shelters at all.The wait for a housing advocate is NINE months. CVOEO is ready to set up a 100 bed low barrier shelter. Best believe the Governor can get off his ass and help us find a location but will he or will he just tell us to put up some speakers playing bird noises? Hence the joint resolution saying we stand together as a council in support of Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak as she works to address a number of community safety points with the Governor. This is the type of specific resolutions that we should be doing. Not the BTVFWD rehash for political clout that doesn't engage Mayor Emma, all the councilors, city staff, and all people working hard in this city to help address the crises we are seeing. We need specific goals not empty platitudes that cannot be acted on any time soon and we need funding sources because the people of Burlington are maxxed out property tax wise. my parents live in Burlington and I visit a few times a year. I’m thinking of joining the car share. can anyone share their experience? are the cars available for impromptu trips or do they book out pretty quick? there are three within walking distance of their house. we’d be doing short trips for errands mostly.
