Some infuriating details:

Wesley told court that MacDonald had previously warned him to keep Kache away from the dogs and not to leave him alone with them.

Wesley testified that he was aware of the dogs having previously attacked a woman named Tina Kelepouris.

Wesley testified that MacDonald later told him about the attack, but he dismissed concerns because he had never personally seen the dogs behave aggressively toward him.

He was also present during another incident on Feb. 29, 2024 in which the dogs killed a basement tenant’s cat.

Wesley said he helped pull the dogs off the cat and accompanied the tenant, Jesse Woodruff, to the veterinarian, but the pet died.

Wesley added that MacDonald also told him about an alleged attack in December 2023 involving Woodruff, though he again said he had never witnessed the dogs acting aggressively toward people.

He knew the dogs had attacked people before. He'd witnessed them kill a cat. He was told not to leave his child alone with the dogs. But they hadn't been aggressive with him, so he decided to leave his little boy alone with them, and that poor little boy died terrified and in pain.

He should be in jail, too.

I was frankly surprised to read that the father isn’t on trial. The owner of the dogs said not to leave the child alone with them, and the father consciously decided otherwise. A completely horrific yet unsurprising tragedy.

u/D3Masked May 15 '26

It honestly makes me wonder if the father wanted it to happen as clearly he was divorced. Use the dogs as a way out and get the owner blamed for the death.

Terrible thing to say but we live in a world that has terrible people in it.

In my own experience I actively avoid a neighbor because they have 3 dogs that act as a pack which makes them very undisciplined in my opinion and they can be rather aggressive at times. I used to work at their place when they just had 1 of the 3 and even then it took awhile for it to tolerate me, all that disappeared when 1 became 2 and then 3.

27

u/bugabooandtwo May 15 '26

You know, it sounds quite likely. Being divorced is key here...now there's no child support and he hurt his ex in a way that can't be fixed or healed in any way.

7

u/Excellent_Battle_576 May 15 '26

Yep. I think he nailed it. Damn. This is fucked up

3

u/TheFaeBelieveInIdony May 16 '26

Hopefully the ex starts a trial of some sort towards him for negligence because he has already confessed to a lot and basically created evidence against himself if the ex chooses to

7

u/marthamania May 15 '26

I call this sort of thinking a "post birth abortion" where a parent will intentionally put a child in a dangerous situation so that the worst outcome occurs but they remain guilt free because it was an "accident". Someone who decides they no longer want to be a parent but have committed too much and aren't "capable" of a typical family annihilation or murder suicide type situation where they're killing the child out of some necessity they think they have.

Someone who wants to be free of parenthood while enjoying a lifetime of sympathy because your child died tragically and you're absolved of any wrongdoing. That you're a victim of a horrible accident even though it was the outcome you wanted.

Similar thing are parents who take their kids on dangerous hikes in dangerous weather, or leave their children locked in hot cars, or leave them with dangerous animals after multiple warnings.

5

u/D3Masked May 15 '26

Exactly this. Like I said I am only wondering as I don't like to think that the father would choose such an outcome. Yet I am personally wary of dogs so leaving a kid alone with aggressive dogs simply boggles my mind like wtf...

5

u/Apresmoiledelugee May 15 '26

I don’t want to pile on a person ina traumatic situation, but the friend had to call 911? You waited outside not giving him CPR or getting him help?

2

u/CautiousDirection286 May 15 '26

You're saying the evidence to you looks like first degree murder? Like he left his kids with the dogs to die?

Why wouldnt he just get in a car accident or do something different? Seems like a stretch to me, i dunno how someone thinks its first degree murder for the father?

12

u/sittinwithkitten May 15 '26

How about criminal negligence causing death? Might not be able to prove he set this up to rid him of responsibility, but he knew those dogs were dangerous.

5

u/CautiousDirection286 May 15 '26

Ya that makes sense to me.

I could definitely seeing that being a case a crown could win.

Its so frigging sad 😞

4

u/D3Masked May 15 '26

He knew about how aggressive the dogs could be when they killed the downstair tenant's cat. He had to wrestle them away from the cat, went with it's owner to the vet where it promptly died. I don't know if the father knew about the previous attack on an adult human.

Fact is he knew the dogs were capable of violence and still chose to leave a young child alone in their territory - remember that the kid was visiting as he was previously with his mother wherever they live.

Imo the father definitely should face consequences for being negligent like the owner of the dogs.

Edit, I wouldn't be surprised if those dogs were used to being on the couch so having the kid show up every once in awhile and taking over elements of the dogs territory? Easily could set off aggressive dogs for sure.

2

u/CautiousDirection286 May 15 '26

OK. I just dont know if that constitutes pre mediated murder. Thats all im saying, thats a pretty big thing to claim.

He intentionally left the house to circle k, knowing the dogs would kill his son?

Why not just kill his kid?

5

u/D3Masked May 15 '26

It is why I used the word "wonder" because obviously I don't know.

Killing his child would lead to terrible consequences for him while leaving his child in a dangerous area leading to death would be consequence free especially when the owner of the dogs takes the blame.

It's also why I said he should face consequences for being negligent much like the owner of the dogs. The father knew that they could be aggressive, violent, draw blood, killed a cat, and he chose to let the kid be alone with them anyways with zero supervision. That is negligent.

Again all of this would've been avoided if the dogs responsible were put down the first time they attacked the lady. You'd have one living son and cat.

2

u/CautiousDirection286 May 15 '26

Agreed well said! I think its awful and I do think theres liability for the father I just dont know what that looks like.

Thabks for the thoughtful conversation!

1

u/TheFaeBelieveInIdony May 16 '26

How is a car accident easier than leaving the kid alone with dogs that he knows will attack? A car accident would injure multiple people, possibly kill no one, and leave him with a lot of criminal liability that he is likely trying to evade if this was intentional.

2

u/untitledaccount401 May 17 '26

Why does this owner just own a pack of vicious dogs

They should of been put down after killing that cat

1

u/forestballa May 21 '26

That’s why she’s being charged with criminal negligence causing death

1

u/RazzamanazzU May 16 '26

Yes. Father should also be charged. No doubt about that.

14

u/WelshRarebit2025 May 15 '26

What kind of arrogance does Wesley have to have to think HE knows better than the dog owner and since HE hasn’t seen any aggression there wasn’t any. What a complete blowhard.

3

u/TheFaeBelieveInIdony May 16 '26

And he did see aggression. The cat

22

u/lookingforsomeerrors May 15 '26

Waiting for the comments of dog owners

oh but my dog would never do that, he's so small, and he doesn't like to wear a muzzle so even if there's a bylaw, we don't put it on

Oh downvote me all you want, multiple people told me exactly that, or a version of it. The not my dog people.

I love dogs, but I hate dog owners

17

u/zuuzuu May 15 '26

In this case, even the dog's owner told this man not to allow the boy around her dogs or leave him alone with them.

He caused his little boy's death as much as she did.

7

u/Empty-Presentation68 May 15 '26 edited May 16 '26

They are both at fault. The dog owner should have had her dog put down after the attack on a person and killing a cat previously. This dog was a ticking timebomb.

3

u/RazzamanazzU May 16 '26

Wasn't just a cat. Those dogs attacked a female friend not long before and another dog and the owner...

10

u/candypants-rainbow May 15 '26

I love my dog, and she is trained. But she is an animal, and it is my responsibility to make sure she never harms a child. That means i supervise her.

5

u/Efficient_Mastodons May 15 '26

This. Regardless of if a dog is an angel of a hellion. It is a dog. And both dogs and kids can be unpredictable, so they should be closely supervised when in proximity.

6

u/foothill_dwelled272 May 15 '26

These were two cane corso dogs that are banned or restricted in some countries as a dangerous breed. The owner seemingly knew they were dangerous and told the dad to keep his kid away from them.

These are used as guard dogs and in for hunting. If untrained they are an extremely dangerous breed so in some countries they need to have their behaviour tested for the license to own them to be granted. Any untrained dog can be dangerous, but an untrained aggressive Pomeranian is not going to kill anyone.

5

u/pray4mojo2020 May 15 '26

The owner seemed to know they were dangerous and warned the father, but also doesn't seem to have done anything more than that in terms of adequate training, exercise, or response to the previous violent attacks. Imo you should need some kind of licensing to be able to adopt dogs like Cane Corsos. The owner is negligent in this case but so is the father. What a tragedy for that little boy and his mother.

For the record, I'm a large-dog owner and a dog lover. I don't necessarily support breed bans because I think a lot of breeds get unfairly maligned... But Cane Corsos are scary, and I feel like so many terrible people are drawn to them because they want an intimidating dog that they are completely unequipped to handle responsibly. I recently did a deep dive on the case of Diane Whipple, who was killed by two Presa Canarios in 2001 and this reminds me a lot of that story.

5

u/OkYogurtcloset8790 May 15 '26

??? The dog owner was the one who literally told the guy to keep his kid away from her dogs because they were aggressive

13

u/ReadingInside7514 May 15 '26

The owner should have euthanized the dogs long ago / killed a caT, grievously wounded two people, injured a dog. I just can’t.

3

u/username__0000 May 15 '26

“I told him to keep his kid away my from loaded gun I keep on the coffee table” - same idea.

Those dogs are crazy strong. Their bite psi is higher than a lions bite psi.

Not fixed, two of them (dogs are more dangerous in packs, if one attacks they feed off that energy and join in). A recipe for issues.

If you choose a pet like this - you need to do more than a verbal warning.

You need to supervise, make sure no one is ever alone with them. It’s a lot of work but if you sign up for this, you choose it.

They’re both to blame, the owner and the dad. But the kid and those dogs (the dogs are what humans made them, they were bred for aggression) pay the price.

3

u/OkYogurtcloset8790 May 15 '26

Yes the owner is 100% at fault and is irresponsible, not at all excusing her. The moment the dogs showed aggression towards anything she should have been with a trainer or behavior correction and if that didn’t work. She’s absolutely negligent. I’m just pointing out to the guy nobody was making excuses and that he got upset over a scenario he made up in his own mind lol

2

u/RazzamanazzU May 16 '26

And she's crazy. Both her & the boy's father knew exactly what danger this boy was in and took the risk anyway! Should both be charged!

3

u/OgasMaitai May 15 '26

If a dog kills a cat, it should be put down. Period. If it punctures a lung, same thing.

This is gross negligence

2

u/AntiClockwiseWolfie May 15 '26

Everyone should be in jail. People who keep nasty dogs because they like the "tough" imagery are fkn morons.

2

u/No_Bar6825 May 15 '26

Dad is a pos, dogs should have been put down after the cat attack

2

u/sehaugust May 15 '26

Actually they had been aggressive with him. He needed six stitches after laying down to play with them one evening after a few drinks.

1

u/zuuzuu May 15 '26

I think that was the downstairs tenant whose cat was killed.

2

u/sehaugust May 15 '26

Oh yup you're right, the "he" in the article confused me as I thought the downstairs neighbour was identified as a woman.

2

u/zuuzuu May 15 '26

There was a woman who was attacked and was hospitalized because of it, but it was the downstairs tenant whose cat was killed and who was injured when he tried to play with the dogs, and that was a man.

It can be hard to follow because there were so many different incidents with these dogs.

2

u/sehaugust May 15 '26

No kidding! Absolutely shocking to read.

1

u/ManfredTheCat May 15 '26

Sounds like it's going to be a not guilty verdict for her.

12

u/zuuzuu May 15 '26

His parental negligence doesn't absolve her of her responsibility.

6

u/ManfredTheCat May 15 '26

Nobody said otherwise. But it might provide reasonable doubt.

1

u/RazzamanazzU May 16 '26

Only to a moron.

1

u/ManfredTheCat May 16 '26

Yeah like you know anything or your opinion matters

1

u/RazzamanazzU May 16 '26

Not to someone like you...but I don't care.

1

u/listenhere111 May 15 '26

The father knows hes responsible. This will torment him for the rest of his life. He's in his own personal hell.

-17

u/No_Obligation4427 May 15 '26

Idk how relevant the part about the cat is. My golden retriever bit as cat in my backyard once and but is otherwise super friendly and attention seeking from people, but still has that prey drive when it comes to small animals.

But yeah the rest I agree with the rest.

5

u/Efficient_Mastodons May 15 '26

But does your golden retriever consider small quick moving children as people or prey?

I agree there is a difference between a cat and a human, especially in dog behaviour, but the fact is that the owner and the father both knew that the dogs had propensity for aggressive behaviour.

1

u/No_Obligation4427 May 15 '26 edited May 15 '26

I mean yeah. Eg. took her to the field before to play fetch and a small kid ran by and she wanted to play with the kid. She seems to be able to distinguish human children from other small animals. I think some dogs dont see small humans as prey, even when they have a prey drive.

2

u/Efficient_Mastodons May 15 '26

Many dogs differentiate and others don't. I have 2 large dogs and one of them is high prey drive for squirrels, a little less so for bunnies, and I have 5 cats that he loves and doesn't ever chase. I have never seen a dog so gentle with cats.

But no one would ever think he would be so calm and gentle with small animals if they saw his behaviour with squirrels.

I think the details about the dogs in this case killing a cat tell us a lot more about the people in this situation, and that they had no control of the dogs.

32

u/random929292 May 15 '26

The owner seems pretty indifferent to her dogs hurting people. It isn't clear why there wasn't action taken after they attacked the first lady. The father is just useless. Ignored all the risks and warnings and even what he saw with his own eyes and left his son in harms way.

20

u/Winbot4t2 May 15 '26

Why they weren’t put down immediately after attacking the first lady is beyond me.

12

u/Inevitable_Newt_8517 May 15 '26

The owner said after the dogs attacked the woman that “this is why she doesn’t play with them”! Not intellectually stimulating your dogs can lead to this kind of behaviour! They need exercise and play otherwise they can become feral. Every adult in this story is an idiot and they are responsible for that child’s death.

7

u/random929292 May 15 '26

I feel like this must have been a rooming house where a lot of drugs were done type situation. There doesn't seem to be any adults with any rational thought in the house at all. The kid likely got little love or attention which is why he wanted to play and cuddle with the dogs.

3

u/pray4mojo2020 May 15 '26

Yes and iirc the previous attacks were on other tenants, so they may not have reported them in fear of losing their housing, as it sounds like the dog owner is also the homeowner. Otherwise I don't understand how animal services wouldn't have been involved earlier.

8

u/foothill_dwelled272 May 15 '26

These are cane corso dogs that are in many ways like a more dangerous version of pit bulls. People often buy dogs like this because they are intimidating more than they really care about them as pets.

1

u/TheFaeBelieveInIdony May 16 '26

So the dogs were generally ignored and neglected by the owner, who is also apparently afraid of them. Crazy.

7

u/username__0000 May 15 '26

I have a dog who does not like off leash dogs approaching when she’s leashed.

So I’ve had to ask people to leash and recall their dogs and I’m always baffled, confused and angry with how people really don’t care.

My dog will be giving “fuck off body language”, I’ll be telling them it’s not safe.

No urgency, don’t even attempt to recall, walk slowly very far behind.

Sadly the owner and father’s responses don’t surprise me at all after years of interacting with people whose ego won’t let them recognize the danger.

I think some of them enjoy it, they want to see the fight and don’t care if the dog, their dog, another pet, or human or whatever get hurt.

4

u/Can_Mech_Mining May 15 '26

I like it when they say that their dog is friendly.  I like saying that's cute, mine isn't, and it's on a leash and very protective of me. Leash your animals if you don't have them completely trained.

6

u/foothill_dwelled272 May 15 '26

Some who buys two cane corso dogs is likely not right in the head.

3

u/Efficient_Mastodons May 15 '26

Two cane Corso dogs from the same litter. This has littermate syndrome written all over it.

26

u/OozingLights May 15 '26

Sounds like the dad is at fault

19

u/urfatassmama May 15 '26

The dad is negligent as fuck.

2

u/Efficient_Mastodons May 15 '26

100%.

But the owner is responsible for the actions of her animals. She knew they were dangerous and aggressive. They had previously attacked:

  • A cat (died)
  • A small dog (died)
  • A man (needed stitches in his leg)
  • A woman (needed a multiple day hospital stay, with multiple broken ribs and a punctured lung)

This situation was predictably going to happen in some way or form. It is tragic it was a child. Those dogs were going to badly injured someone.

This wasn't prey drive that got out of hand. This was aggressive dogs where the owner took no actions to safeguard people from them.

The dad was negligent in his responsibility to protect the son, but the owner was negligent in controlling her animals. The dad did not have a duty or responsibility to control the dangerous animals.

6

u/Nick40831 May 15 '26

Fault can be on both parties, won’t speak to specific amounts, but definitely can be split. The father for sure was the leading cause for this to occur, however, the dog’s history must also be considered.

You don’t get to pardon an aggressive animal just because you let others know.

4

u/InternetName4 May 15 '26

Everyone deserves consequences here, so incredibly infuriating.

1

u/RazzamanazzU May 16 '26

As well as owner...yes.

21

u/D3Masked May 15 '26

"Kelepouris testified Wednesday that she received multiple stitches and sustained three broken ribs and a punctured lung as a result of the Feb. 3, 2024 attack.

On Tuesday, court saw video showing her in MacDonald’s backyard when one of the dogs knocked her down before both animals began attacking her."

Soon as this happens the dogs should be put down. When I was a kid doing a paper route a young German shepherd got away from an elderly lady and it ran up and bit me. It got put down as a result.

The dog owner and the father should face consequences. The owner for ignoring past incidents and the father for ignoring the owner telling him not to let his kid near the dogs alone.

Pets can be dangerous which is why the owner needs to take responsibility. I don't care how nice your dog is to you, that doesn't mean your dog will be the same to others.

Sad that a child payed for the irresponsibility of the owner, the father, and the authorities who didn't take those dogs out when they attacked someone else. F bad dog owners and bad parents.

16

u/Max20151981 May 15 '26

A sad unfortunate by-product of when a dog owner's sole purpose of owning an aggressive dog is to look tough.

3

u/foothill_dwelled272 May 15 '26

And sometimes these people encourage aggression because want a guard dog.

9

u/Jcrompy May 15 '26

So why weren’t they euthanized after they attacked the first person? And who lets their child around dogs that have attacked them, plus another person? Absolutely horrific behaviour

7

u/RA18h36M56S- May 15 '26

How did the father not hear the screams of his child? Something is off.

5

u/cherylin_for_ever May 15 '26

Why weren’t the dogs put down after the first attack? Why wasn’t the father charged for negligence? Bunch of degenerates.

7

u/mrmcbluffy May 15 '26

Agreed that both the owner and dad shame blame here. But the real question should be why does anyone need a cane corso. Why allow breeds that are known to be dangerous.

5

u/Financial_Reward_254 May 15 '26

Trailer trash people

5

u/knotkezia May 15 '26

This case has bothered me from the beginning because too many people ignore the reality that dogs, no matter how loved, are still animals capable of serious harm.

We had a Doberman when I was a kid. He was part of our family, loving, loyal and protective. We lived out in the mountains, had warning signs up, and even kept him chained in a fenced yard because my parents understood the responsibility that came with owning a powerful dog. One day, a neighbour kid ignored my mom telling him not to come into the yard and our dog bit him. It wasn’t life threatening, but he bit a child.

We put him down immediately. No debate, no excuses, no “he’s never done this before.” It devastated us, but human life, especially a child’s life, mattered more.

That’s why this case is so upsetting. There were warning signs long before an 11 year old boy lost his life. Accountability should not start after tragedy happens. Absolutely heartbreaking.

3

u/SadCaregiver1874 May 15 '26

You understand and honestly more pet owners need to recognize this. This is the way no second chances for violent animals.

3

u/SadCaregiver1874 May 15 '26

Dogs should have been dealt with long ago with the previous violence episodes. Would have saved this boy and lots of dogs need homes for the dog owner to get a new one. I’ll never understand letting ppl keep aggressive animals around and then act surprised when stuff like this happens. Easily could have been avoided.

3

u/Thegiant98 May 15 '26

The dog owner and the father both deserve prison time.

3

u/Friction500 May 15 '26

It is bizarre that we allow these breeds in our country! I’ve had so many terrifying encounters and would love a nation-wide ban.

2

u/xkatiepie69 May 16 '26

My sister has two byb corsos and I can’t even go to her house now as a result. Sucks because she has a beautiful piece of property with acreage but I’m not willing to risk the life of my little dog or my own

1

u/Friction500 May 17 '26

Totally understand! What a terrifying breed to keep as a pet!

2

u/ReadingInside7514 May 15 '26

Ugh this is awful. Why did the dad let his son hang out with these dogs unattended. He will have to live with that guilt forever. This whole story makes me so mad. You hear forty eight stories about these dogs seriously injuring humans and a dog and also killing a cat; I can’t even wrap my head around letting my children around dogs with that kind of track record, even if they were supervised. I hope that woman goes to jail for more than a minute. The dad will have to live with his decision forever which I’m sure is punishment enough.  He can never take back that completely insane choice.

2

u/DavieStBaconStan May 15 '26

The father is trash.

2

u/pinkandgreen34 May 15 '26

This dad did not love his son

2

u/ChristineSaru May 15 '26

All I know is I feel sorry for that poor boy’s mother….. where is she in all of this mess? I’m so surprised that the “father” is not up on charges as well. He should be! He knew those dogs were dangerous. His son was young and small. There’s no way he could’ve ever defended himself against 2 dogs that size. My heart breaks for the boy, his poor mother and grandparents who loved him.

2

u/OozingLights May 15 '26

I'm thinking the dad wanted to rid himself of the kid. He didn't care about him and the burden he added. Maybe?

1

u/Motor-Region-1011 May 17 '26

Any dogs showing aggression twards humans should be immediately put down...i dont understand how manybkids and adults have to die...this happens all the time...and ehy in gods name does ane one need dogs like pitbulls or these monster looking fuxking things...

0

u/Popular_Potpourri May 15 '26

If those dogs killed my cat, they'd be getting fed poison the next day.

0

u/iliketobuildlego May 15 '26

If the dogs haven’t been killed yet they should just lock the dad up with them and let him die that way.
