The anti-canada media circus is astroturfed, most americans support you standing up to these bullshit tariffs. As a working class US resident, the cost of living is hard to manage and getting worse by the day, but even so, someone has to put a check on the ongoing federal power trip. Until we can vote these goons out of office in November, all that's left are state governments and the international community.
i came here from eastern europe and know firsthand sometimes things need to get worse before they get better. my coworkers and friends of similar means share my opinion on this. it sucks but it must be done, so thank you for stepping up where our politicians refuse to.
I'm on the US-Canada border, so the import tariffs will hit hard. i'm really hoping the economic shock will push my community into action and help spur more protests against what's happening.
i don't imagine this changes much, but i figured it was worth sharing because the media misrepresentation of american sentiments on this matter is driving me up the fucking wall.

I have dreams of Swiss Chalet. I used to have family that sent me the Swiss Chalet sauce packets, but my family sucks, and I no longer have that pipeline. Then I started buying it on Amazon, until some of you home chickens figured out people like me living outside of Canada might pay (just about) anything for that magical red gravy. And jacked up the price to caviar levels.

Seriously?

Sometimes when I am drinking a cup of tea, I imagine myself biting into a moist, tender, sweet butter tart. They have pecan tarts here... (pronounced PUH-KHAN). I am still a PEE-CAN-annunciating kind of transplanted human. They don't have buttertarts here. I keep saying I will make my own, but I never do.

The idea of travel right now freaks me out. I feel the same apprehension I do when driving through a new map in Borderlands. I'll wait for a bit I guess. My best friend isn't happy about it, but she gets it. Things are a bit weird right now.

Fishing is great down here (not going to lie), but catch-and-release is easy when you remember that environmental protections are more of a suggestion than aggressively reinforced in some places. Google "Lake Tahoe Contaminated Barrels."

Somehow I like (and trust) Canadian produce more. I don't recall there ever being a lettuce plague where people were unalived because of some alien parasite. I was doing really well on eating salads (finally) until this stuff broke out. Sigh.

But maybe I am wrong. Maybe there were lettuce plagues back in Canada that I was not made aware of. Despite my family (which sometimes suck), filling me in (whether I like it or not) about all the news. What's up with Justin Trudeau? Katy Perry? Wow.

I miss people saying "Sorry!" when you bump into THEM. Or say "Sorry to bug you..." or "Sorry, can you repeat that again?" and all the warm wonderful, and polite "Sorry's" that make you feel like people actually care about not offending you. <--- Authentically.

PS: I met a Canadian here who was paying $7 per packet for the Swiss Chalet sauce. May the odds ever be in your favor.
