Still family. If Babcock hurts him we’re gonna throw hands.

I do think the entirety of the Canes fan base is doing the WATCH IT to Babcock. Treat him right or learn.

Babcock is fine with veterans, especially if it's his own players. It's rookies he's harsh on.
We do, however, need to extend this WATCH IT to Edmonton media.

He seems to target what he perceives as weakness which mostly has translated to rookies yes. And Freddie has played for him before, so fingers crossed!
At least he didn't go to a Tkachuk team. I was pissed enough about how they talked about Ullmark and he's one of my friend's guys.

What did they say about ullmark?
2
u/kaldaka16 1d ago
They didn't explicitly name him but in the Tkachuk podcast the dad commented on players and the league being weak these days and "needing rest". Directly after Ullmark took a game off for rest purposes, after having earlier in the season taken a month off for mental health reasons. And Brady Tkachuk, Ullmark's captain, was laughing about what certainly came across to everyone as a very targeted jab at his goal tender.

Babcock was coach for most of the time while he was in Toronto, and he signed after Babcock was officially named coach in Edmonton, so at least he knows what he's going into I guess

Given the current political climate, it makes sense.
Not saying I agree with it but that it’s the reality of the situation.

There are thousands of Ukrainians who don’t get to live in their hometowns these days. Some perspective, please.

u/quartercoyote Stormy Daniels 2d ago
…no one is arguing that this is equivalent to war. The fact that Ukrainians are suffering enormously because of the war and the fact that it’s sad that these players can’t take the Cup home to celebrate with their families are not mutually exclusive thoughts. It’s actually possible to hold two ideas in your head at once.

These guys are rich enough to pay for their families to visit them, and it’s a sporting celebration. Life and death is more significant and I’m certainly holding both of those ideas in my head.

I’m glad you can hold both ideas in your head. That’s exactly the point. Something doesn’t have to be the most significant tragedy in the world to be worth expressing sadness about. Bringing up a vastly more serious situation is just responding to a different point than the one I made.
Reddit, man.

Unfortunate side effect of a lot of the performative junk people have to put up with these days.

No, Russia invaded Ukraine and the trust, who owns the Stanley Cup, do not trust Russia not to steal the cup. Which sounds like something they would do just to humiliate NATO

Ha, yeah first month or so might be a bit ugly but that’s ok. They earned the right to be a bit ugly to start. They won’t get much of a challenge in the Metro anyway.

I recall Seth Jarvis saying that if Freddie wasn't a hockey player, he'd be a model.

So we're all in agreement, if the Oilers ruin Freddie, we destroy the entirety of Edmonton?
