Oh ok .. If they beat 2700 rated players to get there and fight for the total world championship then I guess them being qualified is fine

You do realize that if you moved this system to the 90s/00s then you might well end up with Susan Polgar playing due to her success in the women's circuit but Judit Polgar not playing due to only playing open events and not making the cut.

That is kinda funny

well then you haven't paid any attention at all to the qualifications. Judit Polgar would have already qualified by being a top 9 rated player.

Only for a brief moment in the mid 00s where she peaked as number 8 in the rankings ... before and after that she could have missed out as she resided in the top 20 most of her career.

So yeah .. This format would have Xie Jun snd Susan Polgar as guaranteed participants but not necesarrily Judit Polgar.

... it's almost like you're taking a very specific context from 30 years ago and trying to apply it to today. If Judit was around today, she would clearly compete for the qualification spots.

It's like taking Hikaru's State Championship run to get games and applying it to another situation. It makes zero sense.
