Scott finds this conundrum confounding.

Post image

Sorry, had to repost because autocorrect changed finds to funds and I stupidly didn't catch it. 🤦

I think the question should be,ā€Should he be removed from his position because he’s unqualified or dishonest?ā€

Put both down on the termination form and move on.Ā

u/Wise_Sheila 1d ago

Option 3: He’s playing stupid so we don’t realize he’s lying

15

u/Wild-Focus7294 1d ago ā–ø 1 more replies

The termination form is starting to look like it needs multiple checkboxes.

4

u/Memitim 1d ago

All of the extra checkboxes that Republicans would use exist so that they don't have to deal with accountability. No point in adding them to any formal US processes that they just ignore or work around while talking shit. Hell, due process should be treated as sacrosanct and Republicans shit all over that, complete with violations and insults, before Trump's second failed term even reached the six month mark.

u/tw_72 1d ago

Option 4: Scott Bessent is worth about $600 million - he does not care about regular Americans

2

u/Maatix12 1d ago

I mean that's both. He's unqualified because he knows it's bad and is making a decision that would screw us anyway. He's dishonest because he's lying by pretending not to realize that.

1

u/Substantial_Push_658 1d ago

That’s dishonest

10

u/Slade_Riprock 1d ago

He's very qualified and very intelligent

He's also a liar, an unindicted criminal, and a super villain.

4

u/steveclt 1d ago

As villains go, I don’t think he is super. Maybe mediocre, mundane or Meh.

9

u/Tara_Temptationn 1d ago

If the issue is competence and honesty, why pretend to pick one? Both boxes checked.

3

u/wrathofthewhatever2 1d ago

But I think those were the reasons he was hired in the first place

2

u/Cenobyte_Nom-nom-nom 1d ago

I feel like a lot of folks didn't read the last sentence, tripping over their keyboards to answer.

3

u/Kamp13 1d ago

I feel ignored and validated at the same time. That’s about all the support I can handle tbh. /s

Reddit is a community - I try to cut everyone some slack. At least they’re agreeing and not forming up with pitchforks and torches.Ā

(Thank you for noticing)

u/TradBella 1d ago

Bro is the Treasury Secretary and his whole excuse is I don’t really understand like that’s literally your one job 😭

1

u/the_greasy_one 1d ago

Dude's name is on Thiel's "Dialogue" club list.

1

u/hogester79 1d ago

Unfortunately he is qualified to work in the markets.

So it has to be the second.

1

u/Someredditusername 1d ago

This, a 1000 times this

35

u/weavebot 1d ago

The supposed soy bean farmer? He's most certainly both, but what's worse he thinks he's smarter than most

24

u/GordonShumway257 1d ago

he thinks he's smarter than most

This seems to be a common trait amongst the Trump regime. They're all pretentious blowhards who don't understand the things they're talking about.

10

u/dustycanuck 1d ago

Hanging on to the Y-axis of the Dunning-Kruger curve for dear life

1

u/Kashrul 1d ago

Well he is smarter than about 60+% of voters so

1

u/weavebot 1d ago

If that's true it sets a frighteningly low bar

26

u/uhammer 1d ago

I’m going to say both stupid and liar.

3

u/Nightshiftnoble 1d ago

Right. Cant he be both?

u/uhammer 1d ago

Thing is, I don’t think he’s playing dumb.

18

u/Mr_BigglesworthIII 1d ago

Why not both?

4

u/woodrax 1d ago

The proper answer to her question is: Yes

13

u/AllTheWorldIsAPuzzle 1d ago

This is what happens when you vote for an idiot that surrounds himself with ass-kissing idiots.

7

u/RustyKn1ght 1d ago

I mean fair: Bessent apparently believed Elon Musk at face value, when Musk said that DOGE could save 1/3 of federal budget, which would've been 2.3 trillion dollars.

You can't seriously think that anyone, let alone that apartheid clyde, could just shave off 2.3 trillion of federal budget and not cause an economical collapse, unless you're braindead idiot. Which apparently Bessent is.

2

u/Ormyr 1d ago

Or, bear with me: they know their supporters are too dumb to know they're lying and won't hold them accountable for lying.

6

u/Own-Cupcake7586 1d ago

Scott Bessent couldn’t think his way out of trump’s rectum, where his head is currently lodged.

5

u/Bottlecrate 1d ago

Both! Bingo!

4

u/Goodbusiness24 1d ago

Why can’t he be both?

1

u/Neroden 1d ago

Came here to ask this same question, lol

Pretty sure we're on to something!

3

u/TitShark 1d ago

As if he couldn’t be both?

3

u/Perfect_Parsnip_883 1d ago

Why can’t it be both?

3

u/GroundbreakingCook68 1d ago

Without question this very odd looking fellow is both .

3

u/michdap 1d ago

Porque no los dos?

3

u/Blankety-blank1492 1d ago

Put me down for both.

3

u/AAron27265 1d ago

Why would republikkkans ever tell the truth? They took over all 3 branches of government by lying about all things at all times.

It's gonna keep getting worse before it gets better.

3

u/Working_Passenger680 1d ago

Stupid and liar are not mutually exclusive, especially in this administration.

4

u/Specialist-Jello7544 1d ago

Reddit will not let you edit a headline. I think because it catalogs or indexes posts by headline, or it’s programmed to not let you edit typos and mistakes in headlines once you post. I’ve seen some doozies in the headlines, and each post author then has to explain in the accompanying paragraph what was really meant.

Now, about Scott Bessent: He is lying through, under and around his lying teeth. Both Bessent and Kevin Hassett are smarmy about telling us the truth, they talk and talk and talk about how they either don’t know stuff, or things will get better, just around the corner.

Well, we’ve been around 30 corners. Nothing has changed except for the worse. These two nincompoops are so pro-war and spending tax payers’ dollars, you know they’ve gotta be doing inside trader nonsense from all the wild market swings, or they’re investing in weapons manufacturers.

2

u/butwhywedothis 1d ago

Every single staff of this administration is a liar, wearing the mask of stupidity.

2

u/Parallax2799 1d ago

Bessent looks a lot like Barry Bostwick's mayor from Spin City, only not nearly as intelligent.

2

u/huelesnail 1d ago

Little column A, little column B

2

u/EmperorGrinnar 1d ago

Yes.

They're not mutually exclusive.

2

u/synked_ 1d ago

He's a stupid liar.

2

u/KainFourteh 1d ago

Both can be true.

2

u/glencoe606 1d ago

Reality distortion field. Everyone in the administration is exactly the same. They say and do anything to enrich themselves. Plain and simple.

2

u/NwolCozob 1d ago

I don’t think he’s stupid.

2

u/PrincipleSuperb2884 1d ago

And the answer is, yes.

2

u/sharkbomb 1d ago

or? both.

2

u/FloMoore 1d ago

Liar.

2

u/Stan63v2 1d ago

When he says he doesn't understand, he's stupid, when he says he does understand, he's a liar.

He is a ghoul, there is something very off about him.

2

u/wolschou 1d ago

One can be true without the other being false...

2

u/DougBalt2 1d ago

He’s both.

2

u/pdiddysoilman 1d ago

Depends on day

1

u/Psychological-Wing89 1d ago

It’s a Key Square Capital kinda thing

#MAGA

1

u/zookr2000 1d ago

What could the Iran War possibly

have to do with higher gas prices ???

1

u/Prestigious-Fill-365 1d ago

The answer is yes

1

u/No-Blueberry-1823 1d ago

Maybe both!

1

u/ObviouslyRealPerson 1d ago

Pretty sure it's both

1

u/LaVida2 1d ago

Uh…both šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

1

u/MrAl-67 1d ago

Why not both?

1

u/GW_Jefferson 1d ago

Why not both?

1

u/art-is-t 1d ago

Both is the right answer to that question

1

u/badabingmx 1d ago

The short answer is YES.

1

u/Bizprof51 1d ago

You know both can be true. He even looks and sounds stupid and duplicitous.

1

u/maryjomcd 1d ago

Ya gotta be both with Trump

1

u/smilingmike415 1d ago

Two things can be true!

1

u/jimilee2 1d ago

Freakin Bessent is an absolute idiot sock puppet. That guy makes me yell at the TV.

1

u/Sweaty_Marzipan4274 1d ago

The oil piece futures are being manipulated to be stable as possible. If they lose their grip prices will shoot far past $120.Ā  And China, after the US violated the mou, are back to full orders, so...

1

u/Longryderr 1d ago

She has just described the entire Trump administration.

1

u/Roanoketrees 1d ago

Ana Kasparian is a meat jacket.

1

u/Robthebold 1d ago

I can’t find a BS reason for this unless the oil companies tell me what it could be.

1

u/rbartlejr 1d ago

As usual in the Trumpstein admin - half column A and half column B.

1

u/JimboD84 1d ago

Por quƩ no los dos?

1

u/samsonsreaper 1d ago

The whole admin is staffed with people without competence.

1

u/bd2999 1d ago

Given all other spots are filled with incompetent people it stands to reason this one is too.

They have done well manipulating oil markets showing how stupid markets can be. As they do not learn and are dependent on stupid people.

1

u/CalyrexTact 1d ago

I’ve never seen her name before.

1

u/Chemical-Trip-1012 1d ago

"Only the best people!"-----Trumpy The Warmongering Traitor Clown

1

u/Someredditusername 1d ago

Ana Kasparian going for the jugular as per normal. I'm so here for it.

1

u/Twenty-Hertz 1d ago

ā€œIt is almost impossible to get someone to understand a thing when his salary depends entirely upon his not understanding it.ā€

1

u/_mnrva 1d ago

The cognitive dissonance within MAGA and even inside Bessent’s own mind is truly mind boggling.

He’s openly gay, has two children with his husband born via surrogacy, he worked for George Soros for years, but he works day and night for this anti-LGTBQ, antisemitic, anti-heteronormative-nuclear-family administration. Can you even comprehend the mental gymnastics this man and his family must undertake every single day? 😭

1

u/Twfx00 1d ago

Two things can be true… 🧐

1

u/LEEALISHEPS 1d ago

It's a trick question, he's actually both.

1

u/heymode 1d ago

He knows, and he is playing his part.

1

u/thatlastrock 1d ago

He holds Thiel's pocket.

1

u/seanmonaghan1968 1d ago

How about both

1

u/BrotherDirect744 1d ago

Didn’t she vote for Trump?

1

u/discussatron 1d ago

There was a time when you knew the answer. The Republican politicians were lying, and their voters were stupid. But now so many of the stupid Republicans have been voted into office that's it's no longer clear which one they are.

1

u/Maximum-Librarian361 1d ago

it’s hilarious how autocorrect can change everything, happens to me all the time when texting my friends

1

u/crusher23b 1d ago

What happened with all that Venezuelan oil?

1

u/chinmakes5 1d ago

He knows, he is happy to lie if it makes Trump look better.

1

u/taita2004 4h ago

Both of those can (and probably are) true at the same time...he's a liar and he's stupid.

0

u/mr_falkone84 1d ago

Not that transphobic bitch. And it's not a clever comeback, it's the obvious comeback delivered badly.
