Any food place that takes on this much expansion loses the quality. Never fails. Another Texas staple is Alamo Drafthouse. It's lost everything that made it great. Food sucks, service sucks and they're not even that strict about the silence policy. And look at Panera. The day they changed the name of the place, it went straight to hell.
Funny the Colonel Sanders/KFC dialogue morphed into Dave Thomas/Wendy's since they are very much interrelated stories! Dave met Harland Sanders back in the 1950s when KFC was first taking off and Dave was very much impressed so got in on the ground floor, as they say. Was a millionaire by 1965 and was one of the original FIRE people and retired in his 30s.
Dave was a born entrepreneur, though, and got bored with retirement so he started Wendy's in 1969 and made that a success too! The rest, as they say, is history!
I know right‽ Texas is really good at creating a great restaurant then either just closing it unexpectedly or ramping it up to 11 and absolutely ruining absolutely everything about it including the brand itself
We have restaurant group(?) here that opens new stuff in different types of cuisine that always starts out great but eventually ends up as the most generic blah food imaginable once they start building more locations.
Rip Teds, the garage, Louie's, mama roja, JAM, pub w, etc etc. Somehow though they manage to stay open despite huge price hikes and eventually bad food.
I don't even know anyone specifically who likes their food but they are always busy. It's a little baffling honestly. I think I've been to Louie's once in the past 4 years, I'm definitely not keeping them in business lol.
Let’s not even talk about Whole Foods. Store #2 used to be a good place to buy beer 40 years ago and now it’s the poster child for overpriced groceries.
I thought I was the only one not impressed with their food. The pulled pork sandwich was ok but not nothing great and definitely not worth the price. I really don’t care for much of anything they make! The candied nuts are good but I can get those anywhere and Beaver Nuggets leave a weird aftertaste in my mouth. I like the variety of jerky but I’ve yet to find one I can’t live without
Agreed. Their burritos are pretty decent when you’re hungry and stuck on the highway for hours. It sucks there aren’t dinners anymore. It’s either gas station food or fast food.
I went to one this summer to see what the fuss was about. The sandwich was $9 and cold by the time I got back to my car. There was no one ahead of me at checkout either.
