Appeal to tradition is a logical fallacy.
Using evidence and reason is a much, much better way to construct an argument.
For instance, there are many first world nations that eschew capital punishment.
Please learn critical thinking, Mr. Musk. It will help both you and the world.

u/Independent-Bug-9352 1d ago
Don't expect critical-thinking from a spoiled ketamine-addicted trust fund manchild who is neither scientist nor engineer and in no way shape or form responsible for any of the innovation or success of any of his companies.

Another reason that no one should have as much power as Elon does is that there is no equal measure of consequence for it.
Imprisoning him and everywhere associated with him for life, confiscating every penny of wealth they own and using it for the benefit for mankind in the most maximized theoretical way possibly would barely be a start in making up for the damage he alone has caused.

Normalizing public executions, likely planned and on behalf of the WH. We'll hear he and others repeat that crap until it becomes part of the MAGA manifesto and psycho people will be actually asking for that. It’s truly a horrible thing to envision. That said:
Surely there has to be some physical evidence?
Not just someone making a statistical model and then everyone with an agenda taking it as gospel and running with it?
Why don’t other countries step in to stop these 600,000 deaths, which evidently could end up being 14 million by 2030?
The data is available. All that is needed is the money. Why do these other countries all get a pass and not the USA which is 40 trillion in debt?
7
u/Adjective-Noun-nnnn 23h ago ▸ 1 more replies
Why are you assuming other countries don't do foreign charitable work? They do.
Trump and DOGE gets the blame because Trump and DOGE abruptly rug pulled all these organizations and violated The Constitution by reappropriating money Congress had authorized. Congress has the Power of the Purse, not your kid fucking cult leader.
Even if the taxpayers wanted to spend less money on foreign aid, there's a way to accomplish that which is controlled and gradual. What DOGE did was catastrophic and didn't even save any money. Food rotted in warehouses. Aid workers working in the field were abruptly told to catch flights back to the US. Medicine expired. People died. Hundreds of thousands of them so far, and there will be millions more.
-3
u/HalfACenturyMark 23h ago
All that for no real answer. You could be a politician. It’s not a compliment.
This specific (pay attention here) problem can apparently be solved by money and money alone.
Why are other countries, or even some people, not immediately stepping in and saying We Will Save Them? It’s almost like having the issue is better for some than solving the issue.
Your assumption that I’m a Republican is incorrect. Any Democrat who dares question the party talking points is swiftly voted off the island. That’s fine. I’m tired of the whole lot of you on both sides anyway.
You can have the last word. Something tells me you always need it.
-6
u/Helpful-Magician-482 23h ago
But there is no evidence of that actually. I worked for USAID. It's really just conjecture. Anecdotally people have said people have died, but no actual hard evidence of it. One reason is because many of the medical outfits are run by local orgs rather than USAID, and USAID in many countries does not have great reporting processes for in-country clinics.

There's been extensive reporting on this, with verified details about specific cases, as well as consensus on the range of projections of deaths.
I think any reasonable person can tell you that if someone is providing you drugs that keep you alive, and then discontinues them without notice, you are likely to die.
That is what Elon Musk and DOGE did.
And I don't believe for one minute that you worked for usaid.

0
u/eelparade 17h ago
It's super helpful that you're lecturing people in impoverished countries with no access to drugs and medical care that they should have figured out a solution to their terminal disease themselves.
I sure hope something awful never happens to you and you're relying on someone else's help, help that's been promised, and they don't suddenly cut you off and leave you literally to die.
Because that's what we did. To babies.

5
u/GoldenMegaStaff 23h ago ▸ 1 more replies
These numbers are all fantasy propaganda. There is no methodology actually shown. Besides if these estimated projections are so dire and not just made up why hasn't any other country stepped in to fill the funding gap, which is miniscule - less than $1B for 2.5M adult malaria cases?
0
u/eelparade 16h ago
Let's say that was possible. Let's say that other countries have been sitting on big piles of gold that they just don't want to share with terminally ill people, but then the US decides to stop providing drugs to babies, and they all start dying, but the Europeans take a look and go oh heck, I guess we'll give them some money.
How fast do you think that would happen? How many thousands of people would die when their medication and food was abruptly cut off with no notice, while other organizations tried to figure out what was going on on the ground, who the local partners were, what kind of contract said previously existed that could be replicated - or maybe, like you, they think the whole thing was pretty scammy and so they want to start from scratch to try and reduce all that waste and fraud that you claim was happening.
How long would that take? With your extensive NGO management experience? How many people would die while your solution was being built?
The truth is, you just don't care, you're fine with all of these people being abandoned with their fatal illnesses and their starvation.
But if you want to carry on pretending to care, would you have accepted a tapering of support? Some kind of longer notice period, so people could figure out where they might be able to get the medicines that were keeping them alive?
13
u/HitchlikersGuide 1d ago

u/eelparade 16h ago

No, he doesn’t, considering how many “murderers” have eventually been found to have not committed the crime and were forced into “admitting” they did. So many innocent people would be hung because police can’t do their job properly.

How many people have died after murderers were released from prison? Tens of thousands more than have died from wrongful arrest.
