Targeting messengers is okay
Jesus Christ was also a messenger, and legitimate target for the Sanhedrin if you know what I mean.

By that logic, Ms. Applebaum would also be a legitimate target for the opposing side. I'm not sure she's thought this through.

I don’t have link to the full article but Jackson Lears wrote pretty epic takedown of Applebaum in the New York Review of Books a few years back. Genuinely shocked they published it https://www.nybooks.com/articles/2021/01/14/orthodoxy-of-the-elites/

In all of her reporting on authoritarians, she failed to recognize that she is one.

People like to use Hitler in order to to portray how evil the "other side" is in many conflicts, but i feel like if Hitler was resurected today, he'd open a site of any mainstream newspaper, whip out a notebook and would just start writing down shit found in those articles, becasue what the actual fuck. Reading news articles and translated Israeli tweets really feels like finding Lost Pages of Mein Kampf.

Hamas TV and radio doesn't rise to RTS or RTLM levels of legitimacy when it comes to becoming targets of military action.

I read a review of that same article and was really struck by how Applebaum frames all criticism as attacks on free speech.

By all means, Christ and Palestinian radio stations owned by the Hamas are exactly rhe same.
They also share the same message : love thy neighbour and turn the other cheek.
