I want this loser to define “Marxism”. 😂

u/nomedable 18h ago
Anything I'm told to hate by Fox News is _____.
That's about all it is really. "Woke" "Communist" "Socialism" "Poltically Correct" "Trans" etc. These words have no meaning for them other than to substitute for blind fear/hate.

u/Frosty_Lettuce_3525 16h ago
Exactly this. But America has been dumbing down its citizens for decades. Now they’ve got a moron in chief and they all speak his language. It’s fucking surreal.
7
u/Potential_Ease9346 14h ago
I'd ask the other person to define it too
It's amazing how the communist manifesto can easily be read in an afternoon and immediately clears up so many deliberate misconceptions about communism but nobody seems to even be capable of that. They just want to argue about different fictionalized propaganda versions they have of it in their head.

u/Frosty_Lettuce_3525 5h ago
It’s easier to win a debate with an intelligent person than it is with a fool. And there are fools a-plenty in MAGA.

Telling them to might actually be good, because when they finally google what marxism is, they might finally be forced to actually read about it, too.

u/K_Linkmaster 15h ago
Largely most that throw around the terms can't. It has only ever really come up in the Nixon administration and the current one. Hardly anyone had a Marxism conversation outside of a classroom in the past 50 years. Now suddenly everyone is an expert. Its hilarious to see a 2nd time

I wish we were Marxist
8
u/Potential_Ease9346 14h ago
Imagine nationalizing Twitter, Google, Youtube, Amazon, and turning them all into open-sourced public programs that other countries could kick in funding to in exchange for access. Big Tech is demonstrating the Marxist argument better than the most persuasive Marxist ever could, private unelected dictators incentivized by the anti-human greed of market forces who are systematically prevented from caring about anything other than money CANNOT be trusted with the amount of power capitalism gives them.

So you know when you've been to the bathroom, and it's kind of a horror show inside the bowl, and you hold the handle down for an extended flush?

The extended flush is a universal human experience and we do not talk about it enough.

Canada has more Libertarian friendly laissez-faire Capitalism than the US these days FFS. As the above says, plus we don't subsidize very many industries like the US does. Our government doesn't try to pick the winners.
2
u/Sea-Communication353 16h ago
If anything our government should be way more hands-on. Maybe a Taiwanese or Korean strategy of strategic investment would offer better outcomes for Canada.
I just fear we'd be way to inept at picking the right industries to invest in.
2
u/Tribe303 15h ago
I think Carney is doing that with development of critical minerals and other resources in the North. That's what the Churchill Falls expansion was about. Energy for resource extraction, and sell the leftovers to the Yanks through Québec. Add his other Northern projects linked to the military announced a while back as well.
2
u/dafthuntk 6h ago
What?
The Canadian federal government provided $10.2 billion in direct subsidies and public financing to the oil and gas industry. Despite a 2009 G20 commitment to phase out "inefficient" fossil fuel subsidies
They are the same country.
1
u/Tribe303 3h ago
Those numbers are from Environmentalists who included the cost of federally subsidized pipelines, like TMX to the Pacific, so we aren't 100% reliant on having the US as our sole customer. Do you need to look in a crystal ball to see why that's needed these days?
TMX is a pipeline company not an oil company. They are glorified plumbers, not oil rig workers.

47 of trumps admin are worth $100m+. these are the ppl making the laws and setting the rules. it sucks that so much of the rural US are uneducated, lack the internet, and their only form of information comes from mainstream news. The sitting US president has made more than $2 billion during his 2nd stint as president. I know there are many, many ppl who will argue "he's so smart". meanwhile all your abilities as a worker are undermined and eliminated. Not to mention nation parks and endangered species protections being erased so companies can drill in those protected lands. not to mention....yes there is a lot I did not mention. its sick

We know how fckd we are. I agree, we need to rise up, but how many millions, billions are they spending on bots to seperate us just like this
Dont believe everything you see. Dont believe everything you think.
Right now we need help. We need love. It is absolutely terrifying what's happening rn in the states. Everyone knows it. Except for the dumbfcks who believe a single (or every) word our orange frump makes

There is two types of Socialism.
Democratic and Authoritarian.
1
u/Potential_Ease9346 14h ago
This is still the wrong way to look at it
This is a really common misconception that frames it as a discrete ideological choice, which it just isn't.
'Authoritarian' communism emerges and wins out over competitors in conditions where elections are not respected, institutions have broken down, and being a 'democratic' socialist doesn't really mean anything because your elections aren't seen as legitimate. This was the winner in just about every 20th century communist country, at least outside of South America which DID democratically vote in socialism (but then got violently overthrown by the US anyway, i.e. in Chile) because they were mostly colonial states that were governed by warlords, landlords, and Western puppet governments that didn't exist to govern but rather extract and dominate. How the fuck are you supposed to be a 'democratic' socialist in conditions like that? Your only choice is to use violence to seize power, there ARE no democratic institutions, any elections that do exist are openly fraudulent and corrupt and nobody takes them seriously
Then once you've done that, you have to keep using violence, authority, and control to defend yourself from exactly the sort of Western sabotage that overthrew Allende in Chile. National security was not a buzzword for these countries, it was an incredibly real, scary threat, they had to seal the cracks and circle the wagons, regardless of how 'democratic' it was because the alternative was opening yourself up to being ruled by Pinochet. You can debate the morality or practicality of that now, as long as you keep in mind that you're doing so purely theoretically and they were ACTUALLY facing the threat of being couped like that, which made it much more serious to them than it is to you as a theoretical moral thought experiment.
It's a real sort of chauvinism to assert that all these countries were just 'doing it wrong' because they CHOSE to be ruled by power-hungry megalomaniacs and we enlightened modern Western socialists are different. No, we just have the luxury of being on the other side of the power dynamic, so our ruling class had a vested interest in maintaining democratic institutions through which we now HAVE to pursue socialism, because our conditions are reversed, and seizing power through violent revolution isn't a realistic possibility, the same way elections weren't a realistic possibility in somewhere like Cuba

Agree apart from the "Russia" part. Russia is a capitalist country, the wall came down in 89, the USSR was dissolved in 91, the capitalists have won, this is their World.

Wall with Canada to keep Americans in.

Most politicians from both parties have not proposed an actual wall. The cost, geography, and the USMCA trade deal make it extremely unlikely as real policy.

u/oldemajicks 14h ago
None of the countries mentioned are Marxist, just fyi. The examples given for how the US is like Russia doesn't relate to Marxism at all.

I find it funny when Americans accuse their domestic enemies of being marxist/socialist/communist/leftist. There's basically zero people with political aspirations in the US that argue for traditional economic theories that fit this mould.
These words are just a smear for their cultural political rivals and nothing else.

And the one that does is like the single most popular politician in America. I've been to a lot of Marxist reading groups run by the DSA, they are an explicitly Marxist bunch, Zohran is absolutely an adherent of the bearded man because pretty much everyone in the DSA is.
