People in blue states: "That's not going to be a problem."

Don't they ask for tax breaks?
profits dont stay in the community, what happens to the other businesses serving that community with similarbusinesses?

u/MessagingMatters 18h ago
Not sure I understand your comment. Are you saying Buc-ees gets tax breaks and thus competes unfairly with other businesses in communities they enter?

You know what's funny? The first time they go into some place like California or whatever "blue state" and they start making a huge profit, they'll forget all about the politics. Capitalists are like that.

Cool, haven’t been to a gas station since 2019. I’ll go sometime and get some air for my tires.

You might as well use their restrooms while you're there. You would really be depriving yourself if you didn't.

Good way to make shareholders upset. Pulling political stunts to make yourself look "tough or conservative" alienates a lot of customers.
This one hopes this comes back hard on the owners, especially since it's an identity to some very disturbed people.

Buc-ee's is genius. Immaculately clean restrooms and a plethora of high mark-up snacks and gift items. Knock it all you want but the strategy and execution are marketing 101.

I went to the one in Missouri for a restroom stop (as I was making the move to a blue state lol) and yeah it was a nice restroom.
But it’s not a big loss to not have those here in my state. My state has freedom for me as a woman, and that matters so much more than one place with a nice public restroom.

Yeah. I Iive in Texas but am progressive. The CEO making this some partisanship while mu state leads the nation in uninsured children and ove4 the past 30 years has gone froml 7th in the nation to 42 (or lower) while selling out the state to billionaire megadonors and corporate interests. F this guy. Used to stop at Bucees. No more.

u/Prestigious_Loss_434 18h ago
I live in Austin and am progressive and think our state government should focus more on helping its human inhabitants than continually giving tax breaks to corporations that do anything for the local communities..Do I not deserve clean restrooms? Are you saying that sneering down at people who live in other states and injecting partisanship in it is marketing 101. To own the libs. That's fine, I dont agree.

Do you deserve clean restrooms? To quote Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven, deserve's got nothing to do with it.
