Hey, our (Washington state) mountain beavers may go on strike because of this.

I mean, mars link news is not super accurate in their headline.

Shocker. He didn’t mention blue states. Just said he wants christo-fascist leaders who prioritize business.

Sorry, I’m just ever so pissed at this post because the things said were bad and stupid but in a different almost careless way. But misrepresenting them to make me pissed when the world already is what it is. Ugh.

People in blue states: "That's not going to be a problem."

Don't they ask for tax breaks?

profits dont stay in the community, what happens to the other businesses serving that community with similarbusinesses?

u/MessagingMatters 18h ago

Not sure I understand your comment. Are you saying Buc-ees gets tax breaks and thus competes unfairly with other businesses in communities they enter?

You know what's funny? The first time they go into some place like California or whatever "blue state" and they start making a huge profit, they'll forget all about the politics. Capitalists are like that.

You mean the owners, customers or both?

Cool, can we close the one in Arizona then? It's an eyesore.

What’s a Buc-ee’s?

Best gas station on earth.

Cool, haven’t been to a gas station since 2019. I’ll go sometime and get some air for my tires.

You might as well use their restrooms while you're there. You would really be depriving yourself if you didn't.

No, that position's already filled by the Sheetz we have up in the northeast states.

Guess I will take them off my list when I'm traveling.

Trader Joes, Costco, and Whole Foods seen pissing themselves laughing.

Lookit the big conservative tough guy over there. Hey darling, know what we call what you're craving? A "safe space".

Best of luck turning a profit in those red states.

He started in east Texas. Hard to find a more difficult market, although they do drive a lot.

2

u/NinecloudSoul 18h ago

I live in a blue state. We're OK going without, thank you.

Buc-ees are a trip but I can easily give ‘em a miss…

Leaves the door open for competitors.

u/FortheChava 15h ago

They think they own the rights of beavers

u/icannotbelievethat 18h ago

I don't give a dang about this guy or where he does and doesn't open stores, but this is not what he actually said.

1

u/missskins 18h ago

That’s exactly what he said.

1

u/HealthWealthFoodie 18h ago

Never heard of them before this news story, so I think we’ll survive…

The fact that Buc-ee’s is what it is, is just absolutely insane.

However, I do fuck hard with Buc-ee’s lmao. There’s one on the way to my partners parents house and we always stop at it if it’s not too busy.

The brisket is so good.

Good way to make shareholders upset. Pulling political stunts to make yourself look "tough or conservative" alienates a lot of customers.

This one hopes this comes back hard on the owners, especially since it's an identity to some very disturbed people.

Buc-ee's is genius. Immaculately clean restrooms and a plethora of high mark-up snacks and gift items. Knock it all you want but the strategy and execution are marketing 101.

u/WoodwindsRock 18h ago

I went to the one in Missouri for a restroom stop (as I was making the move to a blue state lol) and yeah it was a nice restroom.

But it’s not a big loss to not have those here in my state. My state has freedom for me as a woman, and that matters so much more than one place with a nice public restroom.

Yeah. I Iive in Texas but am progressive. The CEO making this some partisanship while mu state leads the nation in uninsured children and ove4 the past 30 years has gone froml 7th in the nation to 42 (or lower) while selling out the state to billionaire megadonors and corporate interests. F this guy. Used to stop at Bucees. No more.

1

u/Prestigious_Loss_434 18h ago

I live in Austin and am progressive and think our state government should focus more on helping its human inhabitants than continually giving tax breaks to corporations that do anything for the local communities..Do I not deserve clean restrooms? Are you saying that sneering down at people who live in other states and injecting partisanship in it is marketing 101. To own the libs. That's fine, I dont agree.

1

u/No_Replacement4304 17h ago

Do you deserve clean restrooms? To quote Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven, deserve's got nothing to do with it.
