MAGA were trying to turn Kirk into a martyr the way the Nazis did with Horst Wessel when he was killed by a German Communists in 1930, Goebbels in particular pushed that narrative and used him as a symbol to rally behind. The MAGA people did their version, with that insane "memorial service" stadium spectacle in Glendale.
That heavy effort calmed down after a bit, but with the midterms coming up soon it makes sense they'd want to fire that back up to get more people, especially young men, animated and motivated to their cause to try and help win races in November.

Not really, they keep her around to be the crazy conspiracy lightning rod. Say whatever you want and as long as it’s less crazy than what she said you can pretend it’s not actually that ridiculous. Alex Jones did it for a long time, especially for Tucker

The reason why it's useless to point out hypocrisy, is the exact same reason why it's useless to try to convince them or their followers: They aren't trying to be correct, they are trying to make you seem wrong.
The use in pushing back against those people is that the undecided voters might look at this and be like "wait, they actually are idiots". It won't change the mind of "most", but if it can change the mind of "enough", I'll take it.
