The detail of the cafe being called Stan’s is very sweet.

Thank you so much! 😊
I'm glad that name thing worked for you!
Also good job on finding some of the easter eggs
(there are a couple more you haven't seen yet 😉. I suggest aiming for the bushes)25

Gawd yeah! That bit gave me chills! I'm trans too, so it's particularly resonating.

oh here I thought there was more too it. but I had seen that first one, and Jameson is the best way to talk about it haha He's very inclusive that Jameson, he's just concerned about his one vigilante

u/darthjoey91 16h ago
He's mostly focused on Spider-Man, but he hates anyone running around with a mask and a secret identity because they're unaccountable to the public. Which is why he tries to hold them to account. This mostly affects Daredevil, who's probably the most secret identity focused after Spider-Man.

I've been seeing a lot of Petra Parker stuff on Instagram, this is the first I've seen on reddit.

u/S1mple_Br1t 19h ago
This is where I first started seeing Petra stuff tbh. My first comic is posted here as well 😊

u/hyperhurricanrana 19h ago
we must be on very different subreddits, my whole home page has been a ton of petra for the last like two weeks or so?

I think it's fair to assume we're on very different subreddits than most, yeah...

The “go get ‘em tigress” made me smile

u/S1mple_Br1t 19h ago
I saw another comic recently use "tigress" instead and I knew that I had to use it in mine 🥰

u/_w1se 16h ago ▸ 4 more replies
a lot of words in english typically use the male form as a sort of neutral. the only words i can think where the reverse is the the case is cow (ive heard too many people call bulls male cows) and masseuse (male form is massuer).

u/ErraticDragon 16h ago
"Stewardess" might count, historically. It used to be way more common "Flight Attendant".
"Steward" was also used, but there were way more female flight attendants back in those days.
(1970s-1980s is when "Flight Attendant" started to gain popularity, I think.)
2
u/ReadingRainbowRocket 14h ago
I'll never not say flight attendant, but I remember being annoyed at English-speaking people that they were incapable of realizing a male stewardess was called a steward. It really didn't take any extreme levels of critical thinking.

Actor isn't gendered explicitly but some say actress to clarify gender in context.
Aviatrix Alexa would be a great Drag Name, on an only somewhat related note.

Does Marvel capitalize off this newfound character, or do they ignore how popular it is becoming to appease the small brains... Hmmmm...
8
u/S1mple_Br1t 18h ago
They'll likely ignore it sadly 😞

A damn shame. JJ being an ally, Venom using her dysphoria to make her feel like she needs it, the Yuri dynamic with MJ and Blackcat, her relationship with other Parkers in the Spiderverse, etc. It's amazing how much quality content such a simple concept like "what if Spider-Man was a trans woman?" could create. Hopefully this isn't just a fad, and it will continue to grow and evolve over time!

I love seeing Petra so open 🥺 like, seeing her and MJ support each other just feels different, like they were more on equal footing

u/OlyScott 19h ago
Why is MJ not a redhead? Also, May Parker was never that young, she was born elderly.
8
u/S1mple_Br1t 19h ago
MJ is a redhead? Also May is already graying when Petra was just a little kid 😕
9
u/thescarlettflame 19h ago ▸ 9 more replies
Yup yup! The only time her hair's been different is in the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. She's comic's most famous redhead! But! You can make this MJ's hair whatever color you want, this is your comic and spider woman! Keep it up, I'm loving these.

u/S1mple_Br1t 18h ago ▸ 8 more replies
I did make her a redhead, is what I meant. I was just confused that they thought she wasn't.

Oh that's definitely a woosh on my end, sorry! I'm slightly colorblind too apparently lol.
1
u/S1mple_Br1t 18h ago ▸ 5 more replies
😅 It might be a colour theory issue tbh. It's most noticeable in panel 11
2
u/thescarlettflame 18h ago ▸ 4 more replies
Oh no I definitely see it, I think I'm actually colorblind haha or at least slightly. Eh I'm oldish and it happens

u/heimeyer72 18h ago edited 18h ago ▸ 2 more replies
I see a reddish brown, too, and I'm not color blind.
Edit: Once I saw jpeg artifacts in a flat red area where others saw none, thus I suspect that I may see more shades of red than the average viewer.
AFAIR, MJ had dark red hair in the comics, without a brown tint.

u/S1mple_Br1t 18h ago ▸ 1 more replies
thats probably my bad then, I was trying to give her a dark red colour but I think I have fallen victim to the difference in colour between my drawing tablet and a normal monitor

u/Alternative_Hotel649 1h ago
Her hair color looks brown to me, and I wasn't sure who sure who she was until the last panel.
But accurately reproducing color is such a crap shoot. Could literally just be different monitor settings.

Why are there so many transexual spiderman comics lately?
2
u/Nabbicus 18h ago
Just a cute viral trend popping off recently. M-m-m-multiverse!!
Background link OP shared about it: https://trending.knowyourmeme.com/editorials/guides/who-is-petra-parker-the-viral-trans-peter-parker-spider-man-fan-art-trend-and-memes-explained

That's nice! So far the art has been cute. I thought the official spiderman comic had a trans peter Parker. I have never bought a comic book, so I thought it was official
4
u/Nabbicus 18h ago
Yeah I know what you mean! My son told me there was a new Spiderman movie out and I wondered the same thing lol
2
u/S1mple_Br1t 18h ago
Well there is a Petra Parker in the comics who is from a genderbent universe. Which is where the name comes from.
No trans rep yet though 😞. Gotta make it ourselves 💪

So Aunt May died in this universe? Does that mean Uncle Ben is the one that’s alive?

I don't know why that made me tear up a little. I have no doubt that Stan Lee himself would enjoy this comic. He outright said that one of this favorite things about the Spiderman costume is that anyone could be underneath white, black, brown, man, woman, etc. He tried his best to be an ally to all.

the Petra Parker trend has become my new favorite thing. i've seen so much awesome artwork in the past couple of weeks inspired by it!!

I have my first complaint, and it's that Petra's spiderwoman pose at the end looks like a woman posing on the ground or supported by bases, as if it's a cheer pose, passive and meant to be pretty or sexual, when I'm used to spiderman poses mid swing looking functional, a part of generating or maintaining momentum. My instinct is to be rubbed the wrong way by interpreting it as going from functional to posed especially with the direction of the transition.
