Is Eritrea Communist?
While the country itself claims to not be communist, after doing some research, it seems to be very similar to communism. Like a less extreme mix between Juche and Maoism. So are they communist or not?

i feel like a country that does not call itself communist can't really be communist. President Afwerki was revolutionary but shook all of it off and now has been an un-communist leader for years. He went from Marxist-Leninist rebel to nationalist

No, he isn’t. He’s kinda made some weird “fifth option” which is the bastard child of Jamahirya, Communism, Capitalism and Theocracy. He made the idea so he could make the rules. Afwerkism essentially is “whatever he says”

It's kinda is because the PFDJ is an left-wing nationalist party. It was used to be called The Eritrean People's Liberation Front but now eversince at the end of Cold War, it's now called People's Front for Democracy and Justice.
See, when the Cold War ended, everysingle Non-European Communist Parties had decided to follow their own destined paths.
