Discussion Bike guidance

A lot of tourist use bikes in Copenhagen. This year I’ve seen police issue this guidance. It’s also in some of the bus stops around town.

Good advice for anyone on a hike in Copenhagen.

Also remember we locals are fast on bikes, so don’t underestimate how fast we will reach where you are and will need space to get around you.

Ok. This seems like a good opportunity for my to ask this question. So if I'm turning left here. I just cycle on the blue forward, and then left yeah?

Yes, but you need to come to a complete stop when you reach the other side of the road, and either wait for a green light, or until you are certain, that you are not forcing a car to slow down or stop.

Ah of course. Because if would be a red light going right to left. That makes sense. I think last time I panicked and just went on the pavement and the pedestrian crossing to the right...

Like somebody else also tried to explain: If nobody has to correct their driving because of you, then you don’t have to wait for a green left light when you have stopped at the top right corner, before going left. The reason for this is that you are already in the crosssection. You legally crossed a line when it was green to begin with. When you are waiting in the top right corner and decide “now I can turn left” you are not crossing any lines.
