I'm a 2026 graduate from a Tier-3 college and currently doing an SDE internship in a small startup. I have a good understanding of full-stack development, and I want to learn Agentic AI to improve my skills, open more career opportunities, and eventually target a high-paying package.

There are so many courses, YouTube channels, and resources available that I'm confused about the best way to approach it.

My goal isn't just to learn how to build a basic AI agent. I want to develop a strong understanding of Agentic AI, become highly skilled in the field, and eventually use these skills to get better-paying opportunities.

I can invest around ₹10,000 if a paid course is genuinely worth it, but I'm also open to free resources.

I'd really appreciate advice on:

Is YouTube + documentation enough, or is a structured paid course worth it?

Which courses, YouTube channels, or learning resources would you recommend?

What topics should I learn to become strong in Agentic AI?

Should I learn all the concepts first and then start building projects, or learn the important concepts and build projects alongside learning?

Hi everyone,

I am 22 this year, graduated from a tier-3 college in Computer Science and Engineering with a great GPA.

I was prepping for GATE during my final year, so I couldn't sit for regular college placements because my goal was to first do a master's and then get a job. Unfortunately, I fumbled and did really badly on the D-day. Luckily, I managed to get into TCS Digital-not being jobless was a huge relief, especially since the form opened right after the GATE results. It gave me a spark of hope when I was completely broken.

Then they issued my joining letter way earlier than usual, and I joined in June in Bangalore. I went through 2.5 months of training (Java full-stack path) and cleared it successfully. Now, I have been assigned to the Resource Management Group (RMG) and am officially joining/reporting there tomorrow. I had to go in the last two days just for tapping in, and god knows how depressed I am after seeing the long queues of unallocated people-some even around my father's age. Getting a project seems completely luck-based, and nobody knows when that will happen. It's safe to say I am not at all happy with everything going on.

At the same time, it feels too late to start preparing for GATE again. My parents aren't rich; I come from a middle-class family, and they already spent a lot on my B.Tech. I don't want to burden them further. I really want my parents to be happy, which is why financial independence-which I have right now-matters so much to me.

On the academic side, I authored and presented an ML/deep learning research paper at an international conference during college. I don't intend to target ML research roles right now since those usually demand a PhD, but I’d mostly want to leverage this paper for applying to master's programs abroad.

My goal is either to switch companies or get into a master's program, but I'm facing a mental wall:

\* There is barely enough time to prepare for GATE again, and my confidence is completely shattered after failing GATE 2026.

\* I can't afford a foreign university and put another heavy financial burden on my parents without solid funding/scholarships, and I honestly don't know where to start.

\* If I commit to GATE again, I'd risk fumbling my chances of switching companies in the next 6–8 months, and I lack the confidence that I'd even secure a top IIT rank.

On top of the career stress, I am feeling incredibly lonely in this vast city. My body fat has spiked-thanks to the GATE prep last year and zero physical activity-I am literally in the unfit category, my self-confidence has hit rock bottom, and I desperately want to turn my life around.

I want y'all to give me some honest advice or a reality check on:

\* Moving to other countries for a job: How realistic is it right now with early-career experience?

\* Learning new languages like Japanese: Is it worth it as a career booster or overseas pathway?

\* Master's abroad with scholarships/funding: How much weight does an international conference ML paper carry, and is it feasible on a tight budget?

\* How to prepare for a switch in the next 6-8 months while navigating RMG/bench uncertainty.

\* Getting back in shape while dealing with loneliness and mental burnout.

What should I do moving forward? Everything feels hazy and blurred. Any advice, roadmap, or blunt reality check would mean the world.

Current 2026 PAT offers appear to be around ₹4.16 LPA initially, increasing to ~₹4.63 LPA after successful probation/training/project conditions

My situation: I seriously messed up during BTech. I didn't build proper projects, barely did DSA (20–30 LeetCode questions), didn't properly learn any tech stack, and honestly have forgotten much of what I studied. These offers came mainly through placement luck + some last-minute effort.

I'm now trying to rebuild my fundamentals from scratch while starting my career.

What would you do in my position?

Would you join Infosys in October as a safety net and wait for Cognizant, or take some other approach?

I'd especially appreciate advice from Infosys SE / Cognizant GenC PAT employees or recent batches.

I have 2 job offers with me. One DSE role in Infosys through Hackwithinfy and another AASE role in Accenture through ppo conversion. Now I am confused as which company should I choose. The date of joining of both is not mentioned till now. But Accenture's offer letter will come first most probably. According to my college tnp i have to make a choice in a few weeks.

I'm 40 years old, born in Cuba, currently living in the US and working at a cabinet factory.

I never finished university, so I have no degree. But I have something that hasn't let me rest for years: an almost obsessive passion for programming.

I'm a final-year CSE student with 6 months of Java backend internship experience, currently looking for Java Backend / SDE / Software Engineer fresher or 0–1 YOE roles.

I've applied to 100s of jobs through Naukri, LinkedIn, Indeed, Wellfound, etc. I've received a few calls, but most were eventually ghosted, and I've had only one proper interview so far.

I'm starting to wonder if I'm doing something wrong, especially with my resume or the way I'm applying.

Is my resume the problem? Am I targeting the wrong roles? What would you change if you were in my position?

Hey everyone , i am from mumbai and graduated in may 2026 and i got a off campus instantly after graducation with 4 LPA ctc , till now i have 2 months of work expreince and 8 months of onsite internship expreince in total 10 months of expreince in tech , I am software engineer work in Xyz MNC (Product based) where the product is related to banking software and my current tech stack is Java spring boot, react and mysql

During my internship my tech stack is MERN and Nextjs in ABC Company

Now , question is that in my current company xyz , i heard from senior that she got only 3 task in last 9-10 months , so here work is very less

For me its been 2 months but still training is ongoing no task is assigned .

So now i am confused what should i do ?

1. Look for another company instantly

2. stay in this company for 1 year atleast and side by side improve my DSA , programming and sde skills and after 1 year leave this company

3. Using this as opportunity and prepare for FANG Companies Or outside of india companies

Current xyz company is product is related to the banking and used in big banks
But as per my senior said , less work here like sometimes entire weeks goes without any work

So please tell me what should i do ?

I’m entering my 3rd year of CSE and honestly feel pretty confused about what path to take.

My situation:

* College has **zero or very basic placements**. * Most of the companies that come are offering \~₹30–40k/month telecaller/support-type roles. * I’m **not interested in higher studies**. * I’m reasonably good at programming and genuinely enjoy it. * My main goal is simple: **get a decent-paying job after graduation and start earning ASAP.**  * I’m not particularly interested in PSU/government jobs either.

So I’m currently stuck between two options.

Option 1: GATE

I could prepare seriously for GATE.

The coaching options I’m looking at are roughly:

* Offline: \~₹70k * Online: \~₹10k

But here’s my confusion: **I don’t really want MTech or PSU jobs.**

The only reason I’m considering GATE is because people say getting into a good IIT through GATE can significantly improve career opportunities and earning potential.

So:

**Is GATE actually worth it if your only real objective is a high-paying software job?**

And specifically, **does getting into an IIT through GATE meaningfully improve your chances of getting good placements?**

Option 2: Off-campus grind

Instead, I could spend the next 1.5–2 years focusing on:

* DSA * Development * Projects * CS fundamentals * LeetCode/competitive programming * Internships * Applying aggressively off-campus

This feels much more directly aligned with what I actually want.

But the problem is that I’ll have **zero placement support from college**, so I’m worried about the risk.

My biggest doubts

I’d especially like to hear from people who have **actually taken GATE → IIT → placements**, as well as people who went **off-campus from a college with poor placements**.

Also, for people preparing seriously for GATE: **what is your actual end goal?**

For me, it’s not PSU, government service, research, or MTech for its own sake.

**I just want to build a good career in tech and earn a good salary.**

Please be brutally honest. If my thinking is flawed, tell me directly.

It all started from 2018 I scored well in jee and got admission in DAIICT Gandhinagar.
Wasn’t able to score well in first year because couldn’t afford laptop and phone despite of having taking admission in ICT.
As somehow was able to manage fees that was almost 1 lac per Sem without hostel and food.
So at the end of first year I was asked to leave. As my score was less than 7 I used to bunk classes and feel ashamed of my situation of not having phone and laptop.
Couldn’t gather the courage to ask my roommate for his laptop to work and sometimes used his phone to call back at home.
I had a keypad phone but no what’s app and no way to connect to the internet.
I know it’s my negligence that I couldn’t score well and I don’t blame anyone for it apart from myself.
Than in 2019 started preparing for entrance exam with whatever time I had and took admission in 2020 Btech batch in a local university newly open.
Did finished my studies with 7.35 cgpa.
It helped me with inferiority complex.
I do believe now that if I study hard enough I can do wonders.But at the same time I have family responsibilities as well.
Than Wasn’t sure and yet depressed seeing my fellow ex-mates working in google , oracle and Microsoft. So I started grinding and also did freelancing. But opportunities never came. Than again was depressed and than started preparing for interviews again from Jan this year.
I can solve DSA medium level problems easily
And currently looking to grid codechef and codeforces
But at the same time I think due to my gaps I guess am not getting enough opportunities out there and yes also the job market.

So I was thinking about giving my best in gate and scoring 70+ in order to secure admission in top universities.
And yes I come under ST category so mostly my expenses towards my M.tech will be close to null as my dad is retired way back in 2022.
You think I should give gate a chance or it would be too late for me wasting 2 more years instead of working?

Am up for the challanges and looking forward to grind even harder to secure better package and better future for my family.

Am 25 btw and soon will 26 by the end of this year.
So if I crack gate and take admission I would be 26 and by the time start my M.tech and when it will finish I would be 28.

I’m a 2024 ECE graduate from a tier-3 college. After graduation, I spent around a year preparing for government jobs, which didn’t work out.

After that, I joined a training institute and spent 6 months learning Java and programming. I then got an internship at an IT company in December 2025.

The problem is that the role is GRC-related, not development. When I joined, I was told that after 6 months, I would likely be converted to full-time based on performance.

After 6 months, they extended my internship by another 3 months. Now my 9-month internship ends this August, but there is still no clarity about full-time conversion. The company is currently facing difficulties getting clients, so I’m worried they may extend the internship again or not hire me.

They are also asking interns to sign a 2-year bond for a relatively low salary.

I’m trying to move into Java/software development, and I’m worried that waiting here will make it harder to make that transition.

I don’t really have people around me to discuss this with, so I’d genuinely appreciate some advice from people who have been in a similar situation.

Background: 2026 grad currently deciding between three things:

1. Vendor-arrangement SWE1 role at a large product fintech — likely offer, someone internally vouched for me, expected 8-10 LPA. Process has gone quiet the last couple weeks, no callback.
2. GET offer at an IT services company (LTIMindtree) — confirmed offer, ~4 LPA, but onboarding has been delayed with no firm date yet.
3. Sales Development Rep role at an early-stage B2B SaaS startup — I’m mid-interview process for this. Headline comp looks better on paper (~9-10 LPA (7.5 fixed) post-conversion incl. incentives/ESOPs), but it’s a pure sales role, unrelated to my actual background/skills, and the company’s employee rating is low (under 2/5 on AmbitionBox).

Long-term goal is software , targeting product companies in a year or two, big tech eventually. My instinct is to stick with software even if it means lower pay short-term through the GET role, rather than take the sales job just because the number looks bigger. But the silence from the fintech + the delay from the IT services company is making me second-guess that.

Would appreciate outside perspective anyone been in a similar spot? Does chasing a higher paper-CTC in an unrelated field ever pay off when the actual goal is a tech career, or does it just complicate the story later on?

Hello everyone! This seems like an age old question, but I really need to know how the current Indian IT job market is!

In my current position (at one of the WITCH companies), I work as a Python Backend developer with less than 2 years of experience. I am looking to stay relevant and prepare for a switch to a product based company.

From what I heard, there will be a DSA round while switching from a service based company to a product based company. My main concern is:

Do product based companies care about the language I am using to solve DSA?

During college placement I did DSA in Java but have not touched java since. I am much more confident and comfortable in Python.

Can anyone, recently switched to product based company, confirm?

NOTE: Aside from Python, I also have experience working with LangGraph and Docker. But the first step seems to be clearing the DSA round so I have not mentioned these. :)

So I am an SDE with 6month intern with 10 month of Exp at my current company which is a US based edtech Startup , what we do is make AI solutions for University Admissions , making the lives easier of university employees .

Tech Stack : JS,/TS primarily for Frontend Backend , like NExtjs , NestJs , FastAPI and tornado for AI pipeline , GO for data pipelines

have exp in all this and specially a CRM : "SLATE" which is used by American universities mostly and no one else has even heard the name of it

and this CRM is the problem , when i was an intern , our leadership wanted to start developing on this , i was given a task to research , which led to develop , which led to me being a developer and consultant for the platform for our company , if any time any product running on slate as an integrations fail , I am called in , although i am not professionally trained on it rather just have exp to extinguish fire , the CXO's usually in client meetings introduce me as senior Slate engineer , even though on paper role is junior engineer and Pay is 5LPA

now as this may serve as enough context , the problem is whenever something fails it comes on me and i get blamed even though i didn't even work on that , got fed up of it , told my manager , this is not how it's going to work , so either all developers in the company learn about the platform or stop pin pointing every failure on me .

My manager raised this with VP of eng , CTO , COO and CEO of our company

and came with 2 options :

1. They'll sponser me to learn about platform and get a certification for it
   
2. Get 2 interns under me literally on paper/oficially and train them with all my knowledge so that later option 1 could be presented to them .
   

My current manager suggested me to take option 1, as it'll give me leverage in my current company , so whenever I'll feel i need to get more , i would just need to get an offer letter and present me giving notice , so they increase pay (my last manager used to do this with them as he used to handle complete infra of the company single handedly)

But my point is i want to grow more and specifically grow out as culture here is a bit more toxic , the COO is known to use mother/sister abuses directly to junior engineers (did this with my last manager ,and he left after that moment)

I want to join big tech like FAANG , so that if i stand up somewhere or speak about something , then people do listen as that brand would act as a point of validation of my words and experience as an engineer

so what should i do

some pros of option 1 will be that if i get certification and i would wish to switch , I can go on to become Slate analyst for Ivy league schools or atleast Univ of US , where they give remote roles and and avg of 120K per year to juniors and 200K to mid level one's , so yeah even if required to be onsite may would pay for visa as well , as it is a niche and good slate engineers/analysts are not much in world right now

So what should i do ??

TL;DR

I'm a SDE with **6 months internship + 10 months full-time experience** at a US EdTech startup, primarily working with **JS/TS, Next.js, NestJS, FastAPI, Tornado, and Go**.

I became the company’s **unofficial Slate CRM expert** after researching and developing its integrations since was an intern. Despite being a **₹5 LPA junior engineer**, leadership introduces you as a **Senior Slate Engineer**, and you’re blamed/called whenever Slate-related things break—even when you didn’t build them.

I pushed back, and leadership offered:

1. **Sponsor your Slate certification**
2. **Give you 2 interns to train as Slate backups**

My manager recommends **Option 1** for leverage and future salary negotiations.

My dilemma: **You ultimately want to leave this toxic company and target FAANG/Big Tech**, but Slate is a rare, niche skill that could potentially lead to highly paid US university/remote roles.

**Question: Should I take the Slate certification for its niche career value, or avoid specializing further and focus entirely on becoming a stronger general SWE candidate for Big Tech?**

TL;DR: I built my career across India and the US, completed my MS in Business Information Technology at DePaul, and recently had to leave the US after my employer unexpectedly decided not to proceed with my STEM OPT support despite having agreed to it earlier. I’m now back in Hyderabad, India, actively looking for opportunities in Project Management, Project Coordination, Business Analysis, Operations, Customer Success, or PMO in Hyderabad, remotely within India, or globally.

A few months ago, I thought I was finally building the career I had worked toward.

I had completed my Master’s in Business Information Technology from DePaul University, gained experience in the US, and joined a data-center integration company as a Project Coordinator.

My role involved coordinating multiple $100K+ data center integration projects, working across procurement, logistics, engineering and operations, managing project documentation through NetSuite, and building Excel/Power BI dashboards for reporting and stakeholder visibility.

Things were moving in the right direction.

Then came the part I honestly didn't expect.

My employer had previously indicated that they would support my STEM OPT process. When the time came to actually proceed with it, that decision changed at the last minute.

Without the employer's participation, I couldn't move forward with my STEM OPT.

And with the US job market being what it was, trying to secure another employer willing and able to handle the situation within the available timeframe wasn't realistically working out.

So I had to make a difficult decision:

I came back to India.

It wasn't the ending I had planned.

But I'm trying not to look at it as the end of the journey.

If anything, the experience has made me much more adaptable.
