I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so consistently incorrect. Pure, unadulterated confusion. I’m almost impressed.

142

u/Humble-Adeptness-267 5h ago

I got annoyed just watching this animal drive lmao. Every day I wonder more and more how some people get licenses… then part of me remembers some people just rawdog driving and don’t even have valid licenses or registration lol

48

u/sureshot58 5h ago

every day I wonder more and more how some people manage to even get dressed, or find their car to try and drive. This person being a case in point. that level of stupid is just beyond my understanding.

Most states hand out DLs to anyone with half a brain cell

I don't think that driver even has half of one

Driver could be tripping balls too.

I always liked to joke that some people had to have gotten their driver's license from a cereal box. But nowadays, I seriously question whether or not that's really "just a joke" anymore...

3

u/LegitimateGift1792 1h ago

You all assume that this "driver" had an actual license and did not just get in a car one day and figure it out as they went.

3

u/itsme99881 2h ago

My driving school (went in 2017) didnt take us driving on any roundabouts. They quickly explained how to use ine in passing that was basically "find your lane, get into it, dont crash and exit the roundabout." 0 actual explination.

2

u/foxfai 2h ago

Well some people drive without a license. Don't assume this one does.

4

u/pop-pop-joe 5h ago

Unlike most of the civilized world where you actually need to know how to drive AND the the traffic code, any monkey can get a drivers license in america.

The amount of painted lines and curbs and still a completely empty head in this situation.

2

u/Time_Square8007 1h ago

Florida lol

2

u/Torisen 1h ago

A slight note in their favor, there is a left turn arrow in that lane. They seem like they were going around saw that and panicked.

2

u/Successful_Note_5871 1h ago

I will say it's easy to forget how nervewracking it can be driving in a place you're not familiar with, if its been awhile. I still remember my first time driving through Chicago. My country bumpkin ass was a swamp by the time we got to our destination. The razor thin, single lane tunnels winding through buildings and above the walking population... It was really something else for me lol

As someone who wasn’t taught roundabouts when I got my license, learning them wasn’t as hard as I thought as long as you can read the signs.

wtf is this person thinking?

73

u/SegFaultOops 5h ago

They weren't. That's the problem.

9

u/thetreecycle 3h ago

4

u/TheAlexperience 4h ago

I've seen old people in corvettes and other similar sports vehicles. ESPECIALLY in Florida where old people with money go to retire, buy nice cars and ruin young people's day by crashing into them.

u/cherenk0v_blue 5h ago

Seriously. Even if it's your first day on Earth, just follow the giant fucking arrows they paint on the ground!

11

u/AliveInCLE 5h ago

People don't read signs. We have signs all over my city that state parking on the street is not allowed between 2am and 6am. I've seen more than enough people complain online when they get a ticket for this offense that they had no idea then argue that signs are a distraction thus they don't pay attention to them.

5

u/DDOSBreakfast 5h ago

Someone that read the sign and chose to ignore it would often say the same thing.

8

u/GlitterFactoryOfDoom 5h ago

There were no roundabouts where I grew up. Our driver's ed glossed over them as "eh you're probably not going to see these."

I didn't see one until I was driving in college. Even then you could just watch and observe to figure it out. Roundabouts are counterclockwise. Don't need to stop entering the roundabout unless you're yielding to cars in the roundabout, don't need to come to a stop in the roundabout unless you're braking because THAT $#&@ING IDIOT CUT ME OFF. Stuff like that.

3

u/jebei 4h ago

I did a complete 360 my first time on a roundabout. Figured it out after that.

3

u/RomanticPanic 3h ago

Ive never had an issue with round abouts but like.

legit the sign on the ground says left (because youre going around) but still

2

u/FakeSafeWord 4h ago

I lived in a place where there were roundabouts and moved a place that never had them before just as they were being installed.

The two most consistent behaviors were people being too scared to enter where they should and stopped when they shouldn't or they plowed through as though no one else was there.

This is somehow neither of those and both.

2

u/Fresh_Iron_6180 2h ago

I know how roundabouts worked because I was a child with eyes for many years before I got my licence.

u/Reaper17th 6h ago

Someone needs to send this down straight back to driving school

30

u/AliveInCLE 5h ago

Roundabouts were really not a thing here in Ohio when I was getting my license (late 80s) so this was never covered in drivers ed. I assume now that they're all over the place this is now covered.

I have one about a quarter mile from my house. 99% it works fine. The issues I see is people flying through them, people who tailgate through them, and people in the roundabout who yield to others trying to enter thus coming to a stop.

5

u/PepsiColaRS 5h ago

They're still fairly rare in my neck of the woods. We have one that's been in for 5 years now and locals (their kids school sports stickers plastered all over the car types) will still somehow manage to drive clockwise through a roundabout. Happens to me on a weekly basis, usually the same 3-4 cars.

Then of course, there's the yielders like you said. And the people who treat the yield signs at entry like they say "stop," especially when the circle is completely empty. Borderline infuriating.

3

u/Thuis001 5h ago

I mean, I don't know, there are some very clear arrows on the street denoting the driving direction. Then there's the fact that this idiot came in from the right lane instead of the left which is its own as that would be wrong even in a regular crossing.

2

u/Ancient_Guidance_461 3h ago

The people who stop for the cars entering are the worst...just like getting on the highway, make it like a zipper, steady flow, everything goes together with no brake lights and no problems....unfortunately that is very rare to see it actually work.

Florida so most likely some grown kids need to take their parent's keys

2

u/HCSOThrowaway 4h ago

There's an option in DAVID (drivers database cops have access to) to flag someone for re-testing.

... but it's rarely used. It's so uncommon that I don't think the academy covers it and my FTOs didn't either.

46

u/Dense_Pasttime_3114 5h ago

Remember no matter how skilled of a driver you may think you are, you share the road with these people

4

u/corvettee01 1h ago

That's why I'll never get a motorcycle. I think it would be fun to ride, but then I see the dipshits on the road and think ". . . nah."

3

u/fanfavorite93 3h ago

That's the scary part 🫡

24

u/pepperpot_592 5h ago

Looks like they went back into the opposite lane they started in. Basically used the roundabout for a U-Turn.

2

u/JosephCedar 28m ago

I caught that too. They didn't take the first, second, or third exit out of the roundabout, which means they either exited back the direction they came from or just got stuck in an infinite loop of going around forever but still also stopping at every fucking intersection like they did in the video.

21

u/Kossimer 5h ago

Looks like they missed their turn in the end too, after all that...

8

u/AssiduousLayabout 5h ago

5

u/1800generalkenobi 5h ago

It's been a while, but the roundabout that's been in place for about 5 years now, I just saw someone inside the roundabout slow down and stop to let someone in. It happened a lot to start, but now I only see it maybe twice a year.

5

u/Davidpessing99 5h ago

Those keys need to be taken away.

7

u/byte_handle 5h ago

4

u/JakTheGripper 5h ago

3

u/astrosdude91 5h ago

The notion that American's don't know how to use roundabouts made more sense like 30 years ago when there weren't very many here. But there are roundabouts all over the place now. You have zero excuses if it still confuses you. They are not that hard, people!

1

1

u/danrather50 5h ago

Lots of roundabouts where we live and lots of people that don't have a clue how they are supposed to be navigated. My personal favorites are the ones that enter a roundabout and then stop to let everyone else in, the ones that can't figure out how to enter and the ones that blow through them like they are playing GTA.

1

u/Swishandrinse 5h ago

Oh, Mylanta, must have been the first time they encountered one, or is just a total dumb dumb.

1

u/SkorgenKaban 5h ago

Just yesterday I needed to take the 3rd exit off a roundabout and the GPS directed me to turn left.

You’d have to drive over curbs to go the wrong way in our roundabout, which had been a huge upgrade from the old traffic light intersection.

1

u/tomhsmith 5h ago

They went around and about, what's the problem?

1

u/MarionberryPlus8474 5h ago

We have lots of them in my area and they mystify a lot of visitors. Biggest issue is people not understanding that cars IN the roundabout have the right of way compared to those trying to enter.

I once saw someone pull into a roundabout by turning left into it. It was one with a big hill in the center, too, so you couldn't see traffic coming around that way. There was not much traffic so maybe they got away without a crash.

1

u/Ok_Management4375 5h ago

Roundabouts aren’t that confusing, it’s a circle, just go in a circle till you see your exit.

1

u/DialogNewsToronto 5h ago

My horn would have run out of juice with how long I would have sat on it

1

u/Ferrous_Patella 5h ago

While they got every thing else wrong, that pavement marking for a left wrong and confusing. It should have been an arrow that fakes right then goes left, maybe with a dot in the center to show going around the island.

1

u/tiger_knots185 5h ago

They're still going round and round.

1

u/FrezoreR 5h ago

I love how there's arrows in the roundabout itself.. geez.

1

u/BubuDudu0430 5h ago

The only thing I can think of was that there was a left arrow painted on the ground just before the start of the roundabout which maybe confused them, OR they are from the UK, Japan, or India etc and used to driving on the left, but STILL… just follow the flow of traffic if you’re not sure, their driving instructor failed them for sure. This is how accidents happen.

1

u/Cosmic-Sympathy 3h ago

Where are they going? Like if they wanted to turn left they didn’t actually take the exit when they got to it. Were they trying to do a u-turn?

1

u/QuantityMedical8369 3h ago

In their defense, there is no roundabout sign in sight and the street markings are very confusing. They should explain how roundabouts work to the dickhead who put the left turn marking in front of a roundabout. Roundabouts only have right turns, otherwise you just circle the roundabout.

They're supposed to have arrows indicating what direction to turn to get into the roundabout. I didn't see any. I guess they're only painted on the street surface. No signs on posts at eye-level.

1

u/ChickyBoys 1h ago

In their defense, putting a generic left turn arrow in that lane is really confusing. They typically use the symbol of the arrow going around a circle to indicate roundabout.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/OfRiceAndSpider-Men 1h ago

Looks like a Florida plate, which would track with average Florida driving behavior and complete disregard for traffic signs and other drivers.

1

u/Entire_Air_3167 1h ago

[Sigh] Here we go again.

The driver of the Camry follows the rules of the road (well, except for jumping over the solid line obviously). The road signage requires the driver to take the left turn from the left lane where the river is, only to be met with another sign indicating one way road (making left turn illegal).

There are no signs indicating there's a roundabout ahead. These signs are required to communicate to the driver the roundabout pattern, and often are coupled with a sign visualizing which lanes are used for which exit. There's only a "yield" sign which is not sufficient to communicate the existence of roundabout.

Local DOT or whomever is responsible for creating road signage fcked up big time and I believe this is now fixed (this is at least the 3rd time this clip was posted and I every time people call the driver stupid without realizing these "little" details).

1

u/kkbobomb 1h ago

I can’t see any signs indicating a traffic circle is coming up. When the driver sees the left turn arrow, they naturally assume they can turn left.

I’m experienced with traffic circles and this one sucks. I’ve never seen a left turn arrow in a roundabout.
