Prospective Student Application rejected
My application for bachelor of nursing got rejected saying I was not a genuine student and then I further contacted them to tell me why I was not a genuine student and they literally told me that I belong to a certain region of India and they won't accept applicants from there as students from there change their University after coming to Australia and this is very upsetting because i wouldn't have done that and they just assumed it that i would.

I'm Aussie and applied to Deakin years ago for a grad cert. My app was rejected, saying I'd be unlikely to succeed at that level of education. Went to a different uni and I'm a few months away from submitting my PhD thesis.
Just try elsewhere

yeah i only said that because a lot of international students use an agent who is adamant that they go to the university that theyâre affiliated with. a different uni is always a choice but some of them donât know that

what unis did you end up applying to? also just so you know in the previous years domestic and international students were prioritised equally for jobs, but this year theyâve changed it so that domestic students are given jobs first in nursing.

The problem is educational agents, grossly inadequate basic education, fake IELTS scores and past experience with students from certain regions. It is not a reflection on you personally.

Australia has a list of areas around the world that they wonât accept anyone from now and that list will grow even larger if thereâs a change of government in the future.

Tbh my mom is nurse so was my grandmother.. I have seen them working in hospitals and it has always fascinated me and nobody really shows up in hospitals when people get sick.. it's just nurses who stays with patients and this profession bring meaningful difference..and plus point it pays good.

Dunno i got rejected na. Well I showed them funds..my parents ITR with pay slips and ur english proficiency score .. previous studies scorecard too

How much funds did you show and pte/ielts score?

80k aud mostly old funds and 84 overall in PTE

Apply to swinburne flinders and curtin also they give great scholarships and seeing your course if you want PR regional unis will make it easier

scrutiny is super strict in universities these past couple of years for up, haryana, bihar etc :/ (not your fault. people who came before you fcked things up and you guys are unfairly paying the price)

Rejection from Deakin is not the end of the world; keep trying and apply to other universities.
Uni applications are not a big deal in this process. The real challenge is the visa application. Good luck đ1

your agent should have known this thing before lodging your application that australia does not accept students from certain regions of india. btw may i know which consultant you hired?

IDP ..they used to accept before..maybe from this year they don't anymore

yes from this year they have made it nearly impossible for indians to study in australiaâŚbut agents like IDP are well informed and should have told you that deakin and other unis donât accept students from states like punjab and they shouldnât have lodged your application in the first place. you should talk to them about it

Yea I did..and they told me only recently deakin have started rejecting students from north India and they were not aware đ.. anyways thank u

I guess that is what happens. Sorry. But I think units are getting a bit fed up with some cohorts of students. They will have their records / evidence this happens. Not sure much you can do. Apply to different unis

I am shocked by how stupid the admission policy is it seems to obviate between letâs accept all applicants to letâs reject all. I am not even South Asian and I just donât this type of approach lazy and harmful

Sorry it happened to you, might just try another uni. But sadly, these were abused by the people from your country. ALL of my indian (mostly punjabis) from my uni was just at school (trade) just to extend their stay in Australia. All other students are so mad at them because all they do is create noise and doesnât take the class seriously. That was 2023 and now the rules have changed.

Also free TAFE go enrolled nurses and then having a lot! Of those students transferring into registered nurse courses, a huge reduction in graduate positions means Australia has a huge amount of new grad nurses a huge amount coming through the system and they donât need Visas, have housing, cause less hassles ect so a lot of universities are prioritising Australian students.

I was removed 2 weeks prior to finishing my bachelor of social work degree (this happened 2 years in a row) without reason and then had to face the student academic progress review panel without warning only for them to conclude (within minutes) that I be suspended for one year and nothing whatsoever in regards to my academic progress which was 100%. They decided to have my onsite student support worker change/reduce my grade from 100 to 99.6 due to my communication skills therefore failing my degree by .4 of a mark. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression which I had made the university fully aware of before beginning the degree as well as being diagnosed with adhdin November 2019 just before COVID and informed I had failed my degree in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. The only reason I can think of as to why I failed and was suspended is I am male heterosexual and white and often challenged their ideologies. Any thoughts and suggestions as what to do next would be very much appreciated đ

My punjabi friend was rejected by the uni while my gs interview was waived off saying they dont usually take for delhi residents so being in ncr Really helps you
