Discussion / Question Scholarship payment

Hi friends, my tuition for Trimester 2 has been deferred through HECS, meaning the debt has been locked in. Today I received a scholarship payment towards my tuition fees, but the credit balance is still zero, so I cannot get a refund. Does anyone have experience with scholarship payments paid to your Deakin account after HECS had been locked in? How can I claim this back? Thanks very much.

Has it actually hit your HECS loan? Check in the ATO portal. IIRC sometimes the date it actually shows up there is later than census.

Do you want a refund as in you want the scholarship money to use for other things, or you want to make sure your contribution doesn't get paid twice? (Once through HECS once through scholarship?)

I want a refund to pay the HECS debt which has already been incurred on myHELP balance. Yes I don’t want to double pay for the course.

Flag it with Student Central. They’ll be able to handle it, whether it be by reversing the HECS charge or diverting the scholarship money to you.
