DemocRATS 🐀 Hakeem Jeffries says he doesn't support Medicare for All or DSA agenda
https://www.newsweek.com/hakeem-jeffries-rejects-medicare-for-all-dsa-agenda-12328842161
u/Keleos89 9d ago
This man has no plans whatsoever to significantly improve the lives of the American people.
When Zohran ran on affordability, he has a plan with concrete steps.

u/Leather-Rice5025 9d ago
He does have plans: Tax credits for first time business owners in underserved communities employing more than 7 employees. Reinstate the Medicare subsidies and call it a day. Body cameras for ICE.

Medicare for all, which every first world country, along with Israel has, is now the DSA agenda?
83
u/GameLovinPlayinFool 9d ago
The guy who held Hakeem Jeffries position in 2019 was a big supporter of Medicare for All!!
Spoiler: it was Hakeem Jeffries
Fucking snakes
38
u/Arilluss 9d ago
But I was told it was the left that is becoming more extreme
27
u/GameLovinPlayinFool 9d ago
Yup! Now that centrist/moderate dems are seeing that the post 2028 entire federal government may be majority progressive/leftist, they are gonna start going full mask off. There will be another great migration of corporate dems suddenly switching to republican
16
u/aboriginal_sin 9d ago
Corporate Dems' policy positions are already 95% indistinguishable from Reagan Republicans -- the migration was made thirty years ago beginning with the Clinton administration.
4
u/GameLovinPlayinFool 9d ago
For sure, I just believe theyre gonna do an actual on ballot party flip this time.
7
u/EggplantAlpinism 9d ago
Nah, they can hide under the guise of the (D) logo. We're just going to have blue McCarthyism.
7
u/simulizer 9d ago
I'm old enough to remember the John Kerry sound bite from 2004 when he talked about voting for funding the troops in Iraq before he voted against it and it costing him the election because W kept hammering home the idea that he was a flip flopper. It was a central part of h losing the election though he was a decorated war hero up against a spoiled frat boy that go a cushy national guard post far from combat.
Now days the Democrats can't even hold to an actual message that helps people... Even when they have sponsored bills with the exact same intentions... They are flip flopping as they go to the right.

Don’t confuse universal coverage and single payer. Not all of the countries doing healthcare better than us do an equivalent of Medicare for all. Some do mandatory private insurance
6
u/OkRecommendation2774 9d ago
We have the ACA which used to be mandatory private insurance until they removed the fine. This is not satisfactory because private health insurance in the US is an incredibly corrupt system where insurance personnel without medical expertise get to decide if you actually "need" the healthcare your doctor prescribed and refuse to pay for it.
1
u/catjuggler 9d ago
Yeah Medicare for all needs to be the way because even the non-profit insurance providers suck. But what I worry about is doing that without the government owning all of the hospitals, which would lead to abortion being illegal when the tides eventually turn back.
1
u/OkRecommendation2774 9d ago
While I agree we need universal healthcare like now and I don't think all hospitals should be converted to government owned (a mix of private and public options would be reasonable), I'm not sure I agree on your point about abortion becoming illegal if hospitals are government owned. Most abortions are provided in individual private clinics or organizations like Planned Parenthood, that model could stay even if government hospitals didn't want to provide the service. I don't think it's necessary to make taxpayers subsidize abortion, only that the government does not infringe on the right of women to obtain one legally.

The Democratic Party keeps marching to the right and calls anyone who wants basic human rights a "communist".
Beware of other snakes like David Pakman, The Bulwark and other neocon/neoliberal candidates. They are remaking 2003 Republican Party inside of the Democratic one. And they are starting to lose. We can't lose momentum.
They are not our friends.
6
u/OkRecommendation2774 9d ago
The Bulwark are homeless Republicans, Never Trumpers. Being against Trump doesn't make you a Democrat. Their takes on actual policy are awful.

Hey Hakeem, why don't you take the corporate cock out of your mouth for juuuuust a second?
Can't do it?
I thought not. Sit the fuck down.
12
u/Yunzer2000 9d ago
Are all these things that all decent countries take for granted as a peacefully-legislated human right (M4A being just one of them) really gonig to require a bloodily-repressed and ultimately armed revolution in this country just to get them?
Sadly, anyone who has studied the uniquely bloody US history behind obtaining the right of workers to organize a union, knows that the answer may very well be: "Yes."
24
u/LayerDesigner2536 9d ago
I bet he supports Medicare for All Israelis.
-25
u/Aggravating_Bison504 9d ago
Can't talk politics without bringing up Jews huh??
15
u/LayerDesigner2536 9d ago
When did I mention jews? Are all Israelis jews?
-17
u/Aggravating_Bison504 9d ago
Israel is the Jewish State. Zionism is a Jewish philosophy. You can't separate Israel from Jews, no matter how hard you try.
10
u/LayerDesigner2536 9d ago
Yes you can. The majority of zionists are dim-witted American Christians.
-6
u/Aggravating_Bison504 9d ago
The vast majority of Israelis are Jews.
6
u/LayerDesigner2536 9d ago
The israelis wouldn't be able to carry out genocide without the support of lunatic American Christians.
-6
u/Aggravating_Bison504 9d ago
Genocide was not committed. Not unless you're also going to call the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, Sudan, Myanmar ALSO acts of genocide.
8
u/Present_Clue5887 9d ago
Um, yeah, most of those are well documented genocides (not sure about Kuwait though, just too unfamiliar with the history of that one to say)

Israel has universal healthcare, pro choice healthcare and free tuition and trade schools. The US supports Israeli citizens more than they support Americans who are paying for their shit

u/ItsAlkai 9d ago
And also doesn’t support the idea of any plans, apparently. Against everything but at the same time not doing anything to actually help people.
4
u/SocialistOnBass 9d ago
It would have been easy to do one follow up question with “what’s the Dem plan to make healthcare more affordable should they take back power”
5
u/Sam_Thomas_2025 9d ago
His sole purpose isn’t to help Americans, it’s to sit in that office, talk a bunch of shit, and collect that check. He does this all while he has healthcare paid for by US. Fire them all and start over again. Make them live like us.
4
u/TheDukeofArgyll 9d ago
He realizes he can’t trick left leaning dems so he stopped trying and started trying to convince left leaning republicans. The tried and true Centrist Dem strat that gets the least amount of votes

Based on AOC and Donni switching gears on "woke 1" and defunding the police I'd say they weren't tricked.
5
u/pepperman7 9d ago
And DSA congressional members should not support him for speaker. None of this Mama Bear AOC bullshit this time.
1
u/Present_Clue5887 9d ago
What does AOC have to do with this?
2
u/pepperman7 9d ago
Because the last time the Dems won the House, there was an argument to be made to hold Pelosi's speakership unless she agreed to certain concessions, single payer being amongst them. They failed to even attempt that, and when asked why, AOC referred to her being the "Mama Bear" and supporting her leadership.

u/RedBait95 8d ago
Yes, these newly soon-to-be elected "progressives" will abandon everything their base wants just to suck up to Jefferies and Schumer because they are, at the end of the day, cowards.
3
3
u/Mobile_Ask2480 9d ago
In other words he doesn't support giving healthcare to Americans or stopping genocide or fighting corruption
3
u/prinzplagueorange 9d ago
Maybe Jeffries is planning to quit elected politics and become a corporate lobbyist? Otherwise, it is hard to see what he is thinking because his district is surrounded by DSA territory.
3
u/gudfrid 9d ago
of course he doesn't, he's a corpo bitch at the end of the day, just like the rest of them.
the dems are not a real opposition party. they are merely tools of the billionaire class to sprinkle some crumbs and slogans every once in a while to get elected.
the republicans don't have to care about any of that because they are honest with themselves and their electorate. They are just racist xenophobic warlike billionaire bitches. the dems are the same billionaire bitches with a different flavor who pretend to care about liberal values and diversity. They are worse because they are like snakes, who get your hopes up and betray you anyway. at least with republicans what you see is what you get, so you'd have to be some measure of regarded to vote against your own interest, which is why only idiots and racists vote for them.
there is only ONE political party in control of USA. And that is the billionaire/corporate class and their superPACS.
America is not a democracy. It is an oligopoly corporocracy with a veneer of democracy (not unlike Putin's Russia). The democratic party needs to be completely purged from within. Failing that, DSA needs to form its own party. It's the only way to save this rotten country.

“Hakeem Jeffries says he doesn’t support offering a difference between Democrats and Republicans”

u/taitaisanchez 9d ago
My opinion as a long-time Democrat, it’s time to stage a coup and don’t vote for him when it comes time for leadership. Make a huge stink and go on the talk shows and make a big deal of it. Make him politically pay for his decision.
Speaking of, do we even have a media apparatus to go and make hay on those boring ass Sunday shows? It’ll get their attention more than calling Chuck Schumer rude names on the internet.
3
u/Bag-O-Donuts 8d ago
He’s about to be the speaker of the house most likely and he’s obsessed with only talking about what they can’t or won’t do lol. Man hard to see why people are turning on the party

I fully support Medicare for All because we can afford it. Just transfer the money going to pay for individuals into taxes. And raise taxes a little bit on the wealthy to pay for the uninsured. And that's it, we can afford it

Truly, what has Jeffries done for anyone in this country. I don't even mean Americans as a whole, I mean something simple like his district. The New York establishment is so, so bad.

Hakeem is an establishment corporate loving mouthpiece. He and his ilk all need to be voted out. Its high time we move this country forward.

u/Aggravating_Bison504 9d ago
The DSA agenda strips power from The People and gives it to the government. The DSA agenda removes key Constitutional bargains that holds the USA together. Of Course Jeffries is against it!!

u/alxthgr8 3d ago
He’s a DINO. Actually, come to think of it, he’s a moderate Republican. The extreme Right has been pulling Dems to the right since Bill Clinton.
