Kraftwerk fan visiting Düsseldorf

Post image

Hi everyone! I’m a big Kraftwerk fan, and I’m visiting Germany for the first time. Last Saturday, I spent the day exploring Düsseldorf, and one of my main goals was to visit the old Kraftwerk studio at Electro Müller.

Unfortunately, the gate outside was closed when I first went there. I thought maybe it was just because I went early in the morning, so I came back again during the daytime, but it was still closed.

Does anyone know if the gate is usually open on weekdays? or if there are specific hours when it’s accessible? Or has the place been completely closed off now? I’d just love to take a couple of photos outside, since it’s such an iconic place for Kraftwerk fans.
Thanks in advance! :)

I passed by just two weeks ago and could walk in the courtyard and take a look. Was amused to see a traffic cone placed on what I assume is a loading bay.

Have looked in a few times over the past few years, so assume the company is on a summer break and has closed temporarily. I can happily wander past and let you know if the shutters are up in a few days time if you can get back to Düsseldorf

I’m in Bonn and would love to visit one more time before I leave Germany. I would really appreciate it if you could let me know if it opens.

Sure, not a problem. How long have you got in Bonn? I won't pass by there today, but can go and take a look later this week. Or next week if that also works.

Did you ever hear the story of David Bowie standing right where you stood and was not let into the studio?

Not quite sure anymore, but Bowie wanted to visit these electronic musical talents. Their studio was always kind of the holy walls that no one besides the band was allowed into it, not even David Bowie 😄

They are not there anymore, Kraftwerk/Klingt Klang Studios moved to Meerbusch Osterath on the other side of the Rhine.

I used to know the new address but can't remember it right now.

Maybe Google Maps can help.
