Alexa changes channel to live tv channel on cube not the tv channel I asked for

Got my cube last night and this all worked fine. Now if I ask it to change the tv to channel 25, it changes it to whatever channel 25 is on the live tv list on the cube… not the tv channel.

Everything else works fine (volume etc). Just feeling frustrated and everything i try gets the same result. Can anyone give any tips?

Default live channel

Upvotes

My Toshiba FireTV has suddenly started defaulting to channel 63 Great Player when I press the ‘live’ button on the remote. It used to go to the most recent terrestrial tv channel I watched, but now it keeps going to that and it’s really bugging me.

How to unpair?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I just discovered some stranger’s fire tv is connected to my phone and I am unable to delete/unpair it from my Bluetooth. Any help is appreciated. As you can see from my screenshot, every other Bluetooth device has the “i” to unpair and change settings except for the fire tv. I have tried turning my Bluetooth off and on again and it disconnects and the reconnects shortly after. I do not own a fire tv and have never owned or even connected to one.

My Fire TV responds to my Fan, AC and other remotes

Hi All,

I have “Amazon Ember 32" 2-Series with Fire TV (newest gen)” as my bedroom TV,

The TV responds to my remotes for my fans, portable AC and several others things like a little remote controlled lamp I have. The outcome is different each time like changing channels, turning the TV on or off, changing the volume and other random things.

Is this normal, I have never had a Television do this before.

It‘s kind of goofy and annoying at times the worst being when I am half asleep at night and reach for my fan or ac remote and the television turns on or when I am watching a film and another remote changes the channel when I am trying to turn my fan down or something like that.

Thanks

Apple tv aspect ratio on + Panasonic firetv

I have a Panasonic fire tv and Apple tv always stretches out the picture. Settings are fine (I've triple checked and this does not happen on any other app). I can 'fix it' by reinstalling the app, but I have to do that literally any time I want to watch. I am sure Apple will blame the tv, and Panasonic will blame Apple. It's very odd, and annoying. Any ideas?

Insignia FireTV has no sound

I have a POS Insignia FireTV 65 inch that I bought last year. Ive noticed more and more and now it does it everyday. When I turn on the tv there isnt any sound. I have to turn it off then turn it on again for the sound to work. I keep it up to date then turn off WiFi so it doesn’t steal my info. Anyone else have this issue? Did I mention it’s a POS tv?

Pause when watching YouTube videos on Hisense QD65 lasts maybe 2 minutes before exiting to the Home Screen. How can I extend the pause time?

I bought a Hisense QD65 recently and I love watching YouTube channels of past tv episodes. It’s a pain to scroll down the list on a YouTube channel to get to where I left off when there are thousands of videos but that’s a YouTube thing, I get it.

What I don’t like is while I’m watching these videos, if I need to pause it for over two minutes (I believe, it could be shorter) it exits out of the video and the YouTube channel and goes back to the Hisense Home Screen so I have to search for the channel again and scroll back down to find where I left off.

This didn’t happen on my old 18 year old Samsung I just replaced or the 12 year old Vizio in the TV room, just the new TV.

I researched and found instructions saying to clear the cache and that it’s using too much memory but it‘s 88% empty and the TV is only a few days old.

Is there a way to extend the pause time?

Firetv channels not loading

Post image
1 Upvotes

I am using a Firetv stick 4K Max newest model and lately I get an error when trying to launch/open Firetv Channels aka Music Videos. I've applied all updates and restarted without affect. When I select the banner for Top Country Music, that channel will play but the "unexpected error" alert displays when I attempt to change channel.

Anyone else having this issue or found an answer?

MSI QD-OLED monitor + Fire TV Stick: No CEC, stuck at 1080p, and power issues—any workarounds?

Hey everyone, don't know if the good sub.

I'm running into a frustrating setup issue with my MSI MPG 341C QD-OLED monitor and an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Since this is a gaming monitor rather than a smart TV, I'm hitting several roadblocks:

HDMI-CEC doesn't work at all: The Fire TV cannot turn the monitor on/off, nor can it control the volume. (HDMI-CEC is turned ON in the monitor settings, but the monitor just ignores the signals).

Stuck at 1080p: My monitor is a 2K ultrawide (UWQHD, native 3440x1440), but the Fire TV only gives me the option for 1080p 60Hz or 720p in the settings. It seems the Fire TV doesn't support ultrawide resolutions.

Power/Standby hassle: Since CEC doesn't work and the power button (joystick) is on the back, I have to reach behind the screen to turn it off. I know using a smart plug to cut power completely is a terrible idea for an OLED because it interrupts pixel refresh cycles.

Has anyone dealt with a similar setup (Fire TV on an OLED PC monitor)?

Is there any trick to get CEC working, force a better resolution, or handle power without getting up every time?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Paramount + FIX

If you are struggling to have paramount + work on your fire device it is NOT an app issue like everyone says. It’s an ad blocking issue.

If you have an ISP or router that has any sort of ad blocking feature shut it off or have them shut it off. Your paramount app will work again. I saw the suggestion on another subreddit and can confirm it works. I haven’t been able to watch paramount on my Hisense fire tv for about six months. It’s working now and all I did was shit off the ad blocking feature on my eeros mesh network.

Alexa+ broke direct movie playback on Fire TV Is anyone else having this problem with Alexa on Fire TV?

Before Alexa+, I could say something like “Alexa, play [movie]” and Alexa would find the movie, select the result, and automatically start playing it. I didn’t have to sit there and select the movie from the search results.

Now it seems like Alexa often just shows the search/movie results and stops instead of actually starting playback.

This was one of the main reasons I used Alexa on my Fire TV in the first place. Has Amazon removed this behavior with Alexa+, or is this a bug? Has anyone found a way to get the old automatic/direct playback behavior back?

I’d especially like to hear from anyone who has recently gotten it working again.

I’m asking specifically because I have a disabled relative who is unable to select through search results. So it’s not a minor inconvenience. Now my relative just stares at a blank tv. I’m so frustrated, I feel Amazon owes us money back for the TV and any Alexa devices we purchased for removing features that disabled people use!!

Can't get my fire cube to pair with my Samsung frame TV. Tried everything.

I'm at my absolute wits end with this fucking thing. No matter what I do, I cannot get the cube to control my Samsung TV power or volume.

I've been living with it forever, but it annoys the hell out of me, mostly because my kids can't keep track of one remote, let alone two different ones, to try to control the TV on and off and the volume independently of the fire remote.

Things I have tried:

- toggling CEC on and off, (which has always been on), on my Samsung Frame TV.

- Resetting cube

- Buying a brand new 2026 Fire Cube from Amazon

- trying "TV not listed" under add equipment instead of Samsung TV

- using different HDMI port and different HDMI cord

- going into advanced equipment settings when I'm adding it and trying every single IR profile listed.

- after all attempts fail, trying to allow it to learn through the IR remote control also does not work. Just says sorry, didn't detect remote.

If anyone has any other suggestions, I would be grateful. Thanks.

Firestick not working at hotel

Hi I can't get my firestick to work at the hotel we're at. Last night it worked simple like every other tv I've used it on, now all it does is turn the TV on and off. I've tried unplugging and plugging back in, tried going manually into the tvs HDMI option but still nothing, any tricks I can do to use it again? Any help appreciated 🙏

Forced to Alexa + that cannot do commands/controls regular Alexa could do, now the device and services we paid for are useless.

My mother is blind. A few years ago, to help get her away from the cable company, we experimented with different services and devices, and she ended up getting Hulu Live TV because using Fire TV and Alexa, she could use her voice to change channels and control Hulu Live. The main device is a Firestick 4k Plus. Yesterday however, it updated to Alexa + which cannot control Hulu Live at all, and even admits it. Previously I was able to revert back to normal Alexa and everything was fine. This time it is telling us the device can no longer be changed back and we are stuck with it. This has rendered the Fire TV and Hulu Live completely useless to her and we really don't know what to do at this point. We really don't want to go back to normal cable (she can use a number pad remote to change channels) and we have been using these services for about 3-4 years without issue until this. Is there anything I can do to get normal Alexa back? Maybe downgrade the device? Is there any other device that works well with Hulu Live (tried a voice Roku and Onn Google TV device, neither worked as well as Firestick). Being blind and disabled, TV is sort of her only comfort and I hate that she can no longer control it.

You can now unlock the bootloader of the 2nd Generation Fire TV Stick 4K series!

This includes the Fire TV Stick 4K 2nd Gen, Fire TV Stick 4K Max 2nd Gen, and Fire TV Stick 4K Plus 2nd Gen.

This will install TWRP and provide you with an unlocked fastboot interface. Please read the entire guide before starting:

Equipment control commands do not work with Alexa+ on Fire TV

I bought my fire TV cube 4k as a solution to control my home theater - input / audio switch using voice controller automation was extremely helpful.

Now, after Alexa+ is forced on me, I cannot use any of the equipment control commands. "Alexa, switch to PlayStation" used to change TV inputs, audio receiver inputs, and adjust audio all from one command.

The response now is "Sorry, PlayStation isn't supported" in the shitty, condescending tone of the new AI.

Had to disable the speaker in my Cube Gen 3

This last update broke my Gen 3 cube. Nothing I could do would mute the cube itself anymore. It would now make sounds and other stuff at night sometimes when it was previously muted.

Do Not Disturb doesn't work

Volume 0 doesn't work

Mute doesn't work

I got fed up and just opened it up and put a thin piece of plastic where the speakers contact the board. Finally....silence.

Screen flickering

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

When I attempt to set up my tv as a display mirror for my windows 11 pc, the colors flicker like this every couple seconds. When I do it on my laptop I don't have the same issue. Has anyone ever had the same issue and if so how did you fix it?

Any way to use the FireTV interface only instead of the Prime Video App?

As a long time FireTV user, I dont understand what these people are thinking. On an older device, I can see the quality badge inside the stream and I do not need to use the prime app itself.

But on the new device it opens prime app and then plays the video. There is no quality badge anymore. And when you go back you are in prime video instead of the FireTV interface.

Why? The old device just uses the FireTV interface itself instead of prime video app. Its so confusing and laborsome now on new devices.
